The history of Worcester, Massachusetts, is long and rich. The city was first settled by the English in 1673, but was abandoned during King Philip's War in 1675. It was resettled in 1713 and incorporated as a town in 1722. Worcester grew rapidly in the 19th century, due to its location on the Blackstone Canal and its proximity to major transportation routes. The city became a major center for manufacturing, producing machinery, textiles, and wire.
Worcester was also a major center for the abolitionist movement in the 19th century. In 1837, the city was the site of the first national convention of the American Anti-Slavery Society. Worcester was also home to many prominent abolitionists, including William Lloyd Garrison, Wendell Phillips, and Frederick Douglass.
Worcester continued to grow in the 20th century. The city became a major center for education, with the founding of Clark University in 1887 and Assumption College in 1904. Worcester also became a major center for healthcare, with the founding of the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1962.
Today, Worcester is a vibrant city with a population of over 180,000 people. The city is home to a diverse economy, with major employers in the manufacturing, education, healthcare, and technology sectors. Worcester is also a major cultural center, with a variety of museums, theaters, and performing arts venues.- Source - Google Bard

great video! I'm not much for getting a paper, or watching the news, at all. I'm also a train nut. I knew a guy, who had bought the train station, but not the one that didn't do anything with it. I had no idea it was sold, and renovations were being done to it. I lived in Worcester since '74, , I'm 60 now, shhhh. when i saw the towers go up, i was beside myself. for me,,,, it was a total surprise, and so glad it's done, and looks fantastic. Wheni walked inside ,,, i had no expectations of the stain glass ceiling at all, and that curved stair,, just amazing. I'm glad it's not Detroit lol.

Your description fails to mention Worcester's two best colleges: Holy Cross and WPI (both older than Clark) and the fact that there are 10 colleges in the city. Also, neither William Lloyd Garrison, Wendell Phillips, nor Frederick Douglas ever lived in Worcester and none of them were born there.
