this background comes from the batman comic 'the killing joke' written by Allan Moore (Watchmen) and the art done by Brian Bolland (Judge Dredd), damn good comic.
Personally, I don't think he even remembers how it really happened. Whoever/whatever he used to be went down with him in the chemicals. But the genius remained, and he uses it to concoct all these elaborate stories to, in his own words, "keep things interesting."
yeah, it was to be expected they would use the killing joke story, after all, they used oracle, wich means they had to at least reference it, i wonder if jason todd at least existed on this continuity, or, if like in almost any other universe, they just go with the "tim drake is the second robin" thing
Did you see the fighting force Penguin put together? He had a monopoly on weapons, several lethal enforcers, a shark, and Solomon Grundy! He could've given Joker a serious run for his money had he not been taken down so early on.
Okay, Joker didn't COMPLETELY lie in that origin story, he did have the red hood on, Batman did fight him and he did fall into a drum of chemicals....so Joker technically told a 1/4 truth
So The Arkham series went with the Killing Joke version of his origin, did they now! If you ask me, it's the most believable take on it I've ever heard!
Funny thing is, as far as anyone knows, Joker may have very well told the truth here in respect to his origin. He was at one time believed to have been the Red Hood, and it's known fact that chemicals did alter his body at some point.
Well, Joker and Penguin where pretty equal. They both had Titan thugs, weapons from Strange, the two armless goons and while Penguin had Solomon Grundy, Joker had Clayface...it would have been interesting!
@Lowlightnight True but then hardly any of Batman's villains are sane, I mean you should see just how crazy Hugo Strange really is..... Ironic really considering he is as mad and pathologically flawed as all the others he interviews. Id say the closest one of these villains comes to sanity, is probably the Penguin and his Napoleon Complex. Oh and Freeze, he's possibly the most sane. Ra's a ghul is something else entirely, he's either same or not depending on your poitn of view.
The Joker really isn't that insane ,he just believes that the world is just one huge joke. That life and everything in it is a joke as well ,and that it doesn't matter what you do or to whom all that matters is that you get a laugh out of it. The reason he hates Batman so much is that Batman stands as a icon that the world can be a better place ,while Joker simply believes Batman is an idiot who is making the Joke that is life that much more stupid by tricking people into believing things can ever get better. One can not be as smart as the Joker and be insane, he is badly disturbed (likely due to the chemicals missing with his head), and lost his ethics a long time ago, and suffers from multiple personality disorder (like two face minus the coin and add a lot more personalities than 2). Also since he doesn't care about life he will not regret any of his past actions when he does die and will likely laugh about it. If the Joker were insane he would be easy to take down ,but since he is not he is far more dangerous. IMO
What does Joker mean when he says "Reality's way of yanking me another wedgie"? English is my second language, so there's new expressions I don't know every now and then.
+Gustavo Horn He just means reality's way of making life harder for him. His pregnant wife died and now he has to help Falcone's men get into the Chemical Plant in a red fish bowl suit or they're going to kill him.
Of all interviews, Joker is the only person holding an upper hand against Hugo Strange, I love their interaction.
"When the villians want to scare each other..they tell Joker stories"-the trickster.
Based on the legendary book "The Killing Joke"
He is so smart, the absolute intellectual equal to Batman. The perfect villian: you never know what he's on about.
As I can see from these interviews, Strange outsmarted everyone he spoke to in the end, EXCEPT The Joker!

Favorite apart of arkham city Mr.J
what would have been epic is patient interview videos watching what they do while this is going on would be awesome
I don't know what's better, these interviews or the secret radios in Cod zombies.
He has a beautiful story :)
Where do you find everyone's patient interview tapes?
Better idea than trying to force the Joker another way when you're only Hugo Strange
Personally, I don't think he even remembers how it really happened. Whoever/whatever he used to be went down with him in the chemicals. But the genius remained, and he uses it to concoct all these elaborate stories to, in his own words, "keep things interesting."
haha! sweet they implemented the story from "the killing joke" comic

actually the one with him falling in a chemical tank and him losing his wife was considered the true origin of his past
Did you see the fighting force Penguin put together? He had a monopoly on weapons, several lethal enforcers, a shark, and Solomon Grundy! He could've given Joker a serious run for his money had he not been taken down so early on.

Actually, Jason Todd IS In this universe.
Arkham Knight even has a Red Hood DLC Story involving him.
Okay, Joker didn't COMPLETELY lie in that origin story, he did have the red hood on, Batman did fight him and he did fall into a drum of chemicals....so Joker technically told a 1/4 truth

Joker's first wife scares me when she smiles..

@Malachayas Most definitely

The Killing Joke's most likely to be true, but isn't necessarily true. He even straight-up admits that in the comic.

Abraham King Thanks!!!
Haha I think The Joker is the only person who can outsmart Hugo Strange besides Batman
How do u get these tapes
LOL Strange is no match for Joker XD
Another lie, he's got millions of them.
If this story was real i wonder what happen to that Falcone_garlic eater henchmen Oo...oral surgery? ^^
