The gall of Bob to feign innocence. He is tied directly to Ray by the car accident years earlier and even spoke to people about wanting revenge. He’s a sociopath who is guilty as sin.
You could argue that people who choose to endanger the lives of others by drinking and driving are sociopaths. Call an Uber. Everyone knows it’s dangerous. Ray did not care about others on the road and then hurt them more by not paying his debts to those he caused massive physical, emotional and financial lifelong disaster to.
"Ray Wright was convicted of felony DUI and ordered to pay more than $275,000 to the victims. Placer County District Attorney Investigator Ashley Englefield said, "he had occasionally made payments on that debt, but not very much."" He didn't deserve his fate, but you can't say that Ray was a saint when he wouldn't even pay restitution to the victims he horribly impaired
He did not deserve to be murdered bc he failed to pay his victims of the accident! He should have secured a loan. I wonder if he would have still been murdered if he'd actually managed to pay full restitution?
Maybe he didn’t have much? Not being accountable isn’t necessarily the reason or doesn’t mean in general he wasn’t, especially in the eyes of his family. If he was this loved there’s a reason, not a saint but not a bad man. Also it didn’t look like he’s business was doing all that well or that he was swimming in money considering where he was working
What’s with the replies? The OP didn’t say he deserved death. The OP said that people described Ray as being accountable and he was not. Plain and simple. That isn’t the same thing as saying he deserved to die. Y’all need to work on reading comprehension.
How do you know? Did he turn to meth after the accident to deal with the accident? He got a divorce as well. You have to think that was 6 years in-between both incidents.
@@SidewaysInTraffic well the cops said he was a known meth dealer with several arrest records so that kind of sealed the deal for me. Clearly he was a loose canon, most people mixed up in meth usually are.
Ray had no right to decide his prison sentence was enough. He should have paid as the law required; there's no reason to think the psycho drug dealer would have come after him then.
All good people sin and make mistakes. Only Jesus is perfect. A world without drugs, alcohol, hate and bitterness would be such a better place to live. This is just sad all around. Btw the murderers deserve life in prison what they did is not excusable.

Wow, one of the best new episodes! So many ironies. One of the weirdest coincidences is that Bob Manor's girlfriend "just happened" to be living in a trailer only 30 feet from Ray Wright's workshop where he noticed Ray from her window! What are the odds? Wow!!
I'm so glad they still convicted them with a no body case, that van was a treasure trove of damning evidence. I hope his daughter's and the rest of his family has been able to get peace throughout this horrific situation 😊
I had a friend who had his airplane hangered at the airport in Rio Linda. This is not a town that I would ever want to drive through alone. That was 35 years ago and it was the slums, but the rent was cheap. Too bad Ray didn't have his shop in Rocklin where he lived. 😥
I personally wonder if this was intentional. He was doing cash business and avoiding W2s that would've garnished wages if the restitution was court-ordered.
I saw a case with a guy that lost his legs. The woman only got 4 yrs in prison. Another woman kill3d a pregnant woman and got 14 yrs. Yeah, it’s crazy. I can see why some people may choose vengence.
That couldve been me. 9 years ago, my church git scammed out if money by a contractor. I knew where the guy lived and couldve easily taken revenge. For what? To be locked for someone i didnt even like? Miss my daughter's wedding and granddaughters birth? No thx. God will avenge, not me
Ray wasn’t completely innocent. You can’t just DUI and ruin other people’s lives, regardless if they are drug dealers or not, then say sorry and continue to live your own good life. I understand the revenge, although it’s cruel and not every DUI victim can do it.
Imagine being ordered to pay a known drug dealer restitution as a result of your felony crime and then stiffing them by rarely paying. Ray made a series of bad choices and he and those who loved him paid the price. He didn't deserve his fate, but I'm mind boggled. WHO stiffs drug dealers and expects there not to be unjust consequences? My heart goes out to his family.
No, it's who stiffs the victims of YOUR actions that cause them a life time of pain. Doesn't matter drug dealer or not, pay your victims due to your bad choices.

However, I have also come to understand the life changing effects my decision that night has had on that man and his family. I remember reading an ancient book about the dangers of too much alcohol, too much lust and , well basically everything at the root of this tragic tale...hmf...how prophetic.

This guy was a drug dealer or head of a drug gang seeking revenge! I understand being so upset that you want to make sure the person that caused your serious injuries pays - but it doesn't give you the right to take someone's life!

Well Bob wasn't torturously murdered...so your statement doesn't even compare. Big difference!
Bob sold drugs and destroyed families and lives.
Just imagine the chances of all the chain of events coming together, Unreal.
Not excusing anyone's involvement in what happened to Ray. Ray did play his own part in what happened to him by choices he made.
c'mon say it! HE HAD IT CUMIN LOL
yep horrible person had it coming, he just hurt the wrong man, and people saying he didn't have money he had a home and a truck
"Ray Wright was convicted of felony DUI and ordered to pay more than $275,000 to the victims. Placer County District Attorney Investigator Ashley Englefield said, "he had occasionally made payments on that debt, but not very much.""
He didn't deserve his fate, but you can't say that Ray was a saint when he wouldn't even pay restitution to the victims he horribly impaired
where on earth would he have gotten 275 thousand dollars though? Be realistic.
Literally nobody ever said he was "a saint". This entire episode is all ABOUT his bad decisions. Not sure what ur point was here.
Hard to pay money you simply don’t have.
@@SkullswithdronesinsideHe should've figured out since he thought he was so smart for drinking and driving.
DNA on the soda cup???
Did they do DNA then?
Accountable.. he didn't pay the people that he hurt back. That's not accountable
I thought that too
that by no means deserves death! What planet are you from?
What’s with the replies? The OP didn’t say he deserved death. The OP said that people described Ray as being accountable and he was not. Plain and simple. That isn’t the same thing as saying he deserved to die. Y’all need to work on reading comprehension.
Of all the people to hit in a car, it had to be a psychopathic meth dealer. Poor Ray man 😔
That one incident changed so many peoples lives.
Don't drink and drive and you'll stay out of trouble. It's that simple.
@@SidewaysInTrafficlol well I mean what are you saying? he should have hit an innocent person?
Don’t drink & drive & pay your debts. Hate how they made ray seem to be a good person. Good people don’t put others in harms way.
Came here to say that as well
The real truth in life is that people are complex, not just good and bad, it seems like he was more good but made some bad decisions.

All good people sin and make mistakes. Only Jesus is perfect. A world without drugs, alcohol, hate and bitterness would be such a better place to live. This is just sad all around. Btw the murderers deserve life in prison what they did is not excusable.

Im glad i dont have drama in my life like this. Any drama i have is being so exhausted from work and health related issues. Its tough enough buying a home, paying the bills, keeping good credit. No alcohol or drug issues. Surviving cancer surgery, keeping my wife happy.
I do my best to stay away from conflict and toxic people. I guess im at peace, just wish i felt better.
Keeping your wife happy? You aren't responsible for her happiness; my friend. I hope she is taking good care of you, and I hope you are in better health.
Sounds much like my life. But you're not responsible for someone's happiness. You can contribute for happy moments with her but not to make her happy.

trailers can be moved
Thank you 48hours for putting this full episode on
Wow this is like a plot to a movie! The way it all fit together. How horribly sad! Thankful Bob didn't try to go after his daughters or wife.
this bloke had standards. lol
DUI severely punished
Ray Wright was only sentenced to 18 months in prison for the initial DUI crash that almost killed 2 people...only in f****** California.
I'm so glad they still convicted them with a no body case, that van was a treasure trove of damning evidence. I hope his daughter's and the rest of his family has been able to get peace throughout this horrific situation 😊
Ray should have paid his restitution.
I think Bobby lost it when he saw Ray had a shop! Bobby probably said that shyt should me mine!!
And a house too. 48 Hours never said how much he paid. My guess it was very, very little.
Interesting, he said, "I never chopped up Ray Wright." I wonder why he would think he was chopped up.

He committed a crime, a felony, which did terrible damage. But we don't have the death penalty for that crime.
Well the drug dealer guy ruined his own life further by trying to be vigilant & dragged another guy into his own beef.
That one daughter’s vocal fry made this almost unwatchable

However, I have also come to understand the life changing effects my decision that night has had on that man and his family.
