Correction...the Quraan was NOT "written" by Muhammad. Muslims believe it was revealed by God, in parts over 23 years and memorized by him and his companions (btw, today the youngest i have heard of having memorized the Quraan is a 3 year old). After the prophets deaths, when many of the companions that had memorized the Quraan died in battle....(in a nutshell) it was only then compiled into a book form to preserve it.

@@disleydcotta312 So that if all the written copies of the Qur'an were gone the Qur’an would still live in the hearts of the people who memorized it and then could teach it to others.

Not written by Mohammed, but revealed through revelation to Mohammed by angel Gabriel, which was later compiled. Thank you.

      1. In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.
      2. Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.
      2. God, there is no god but He, the Living, the Eternal. To Him belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth. He is the Sublime, the Magnificent. Originator of the heavens and the earth. He made for you mates from among yourselves, and pairs of animals, by means of which He multiplies you. There is nothing like Him. He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
      3. He sent down to you the Book with the Truth, confirming what came before it; and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.
      4. Aforetime, as guidance for mankind; and He sent down the Criterion. Those who have rejected God’s signs will have a severe punishment. God is Mighty, Able to take revenge.
      5. Nothing is hidden from God, on earth or in the heaven.
      6. It is He who forms you in the wombs as He wills. There is no god except He, the Almighty, the Wise.
      16. And mention in the Scripture Mary, when she withdrew from her people to an eastern location.
      17. She screened herself away from them, and We sent to her Our spirit, and He appeared to her as an immaculate human.
      18. She said, “I take refuge from you in the Most Merciful, should you be righteous.”
      19. He said, “I am only the messenger of your Lord, to give you the gift of a pure son.”
      20. She said, “How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, and I was never unchaste?”
      21. He said, “Thus said your Lord, `It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign for humanity, and a mercy from Us. It is a matter already decided.'“
      22. So she carried him, and secluded herself with him in a remote place.
      23. The labor-pains came upon her, by the trunk of a palm-tree. She said, “I wish I had died before this, and been completely forgotten.”
      24. Whereupon he called her from beneath her: “Do not worry; your Lord has placed a stream beneath you.
      25. And shake the trunk of the palm-tree towards you, and it will drop ripe dates by you.”
      26. “So eat, and drink, and be consoled. And if you see any human, say, ‘I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious, so I will not speak to any human today.'“
      27. Then she came to her people, carrying him. They said, “O Mary, you have done something terrible.
      28. O sister of Aaron, your father was not an evil man, and your mother was not a whore.”
      29. So she pointed to him. They said, “How can we speak to an infant in the crib?”
      30. He said, “I am the servant of God. He has given me the Scripture, and made me a prophet.
      31. And has made me blessed wherever I may be; and has enjoined on me prayer and charity, so long as I live.
      32. And kind to my mother, and He did not make me a disobedient rebel.
      33. So Peace is upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the Day I get resurrected alive.”
      34. That is Jesus son of Mary-the Word of truth about which they doubt.
      35. It is not for God to have a child-glory be to Him. To have anything done, He says to it, “Be,” and it becomes.
      36. “God is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.”
      37. But the various factions differed among themselves. So woe to those who disbelieve from the scene of a tremendous Day.
      38. Listen to them and watch for them the Day they come to Us. But the wrongdoers today are completely lost.
      39. And warn them of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded. Yet they are heedless, and they do not believe.
      40. It is We who will inherit the earth and everyone on it, and to Us they will be returned.
      41. And mention in the Scripture Abraham. He was a man of truth, a prophet.
      42. He said to his father, “O my father, why do you worship what can neither hear, nor see, nor benefit you in any way?
      43. O my father, there has come to me knowledge that never came to you. So follow me, and I will guide you along a straight way.
      44. O my father, do not worship the devil. The devil is disobedient to the Most Gracious.
      45. O my father, I fear that a punishment from the Most Gracious will afflict you, and you become an ally of the devil.”
      46. He said, “Are you renouncing my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will stone you. So leave me alone for a while.”
      47. He said, “Peace be upon you. I will ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been Kind to me.
      48. And I will withdraw from you, and from what you pray to instead of God. And I will pray to my Lord, and I hope I will not be disappointed in my prayer to my Lord.”
      49. When he withdrew from them, and from what they worship besides God, We granted him Isaac and Jacob. And each We made a prophet.
      50. And We gave them freely of Our mercy, and gave them a noble reputation of truth.
      51. And mention in the Scripture Moses. He was dedicated. He was a messenger and a prophet.
      52. And We called him from the right side of the Mount, and brought him near in communion.
      53. And We granted him, out of Our mercy, his brother Aaron, a prophet.
      54. And mention in the Scripture Ishmael. He was true to his promise, and was a messenger, a prophet.
      55. And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and charity, and he was pleasing to his Lord.
      56. And mention in the Scripture Enoch. He was a man of truth, a prophet.
      57. And We raised him to a high position.
      58. These are some of the prophets God has blessed, from the descendants of Adam, and from those We carried with Noah, and from the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and from those We guided and selected. Whenever the revelations of the Most Gracious are recited to them, they would fall down, prostrating and weeping.
      59. But they were succeeded by generations who lost the prayers and followed their appetites. They will meet perdition.
      60. Except for those who repent, and believe, and act righteously. These will enter Paradise, and will not be wronged in the least.
      61. The Gardens of Eden, promised by the Most Merciful to His servants in the Unseen. His promise will certainly come true.
      62. They will hear no nonsense therein, but only peace. And they will have their provision therein, morning and evening.
      63. Such is Paradise which We will give as inheritance to those of Our servants who are devout.
      64. “We do not descend except by the command of your Lord. His is what is before us, and what is behind us, and what is between them. Your Lord is never forgetful.”
      65. Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them. So worship Him, and persevere in His service. Do you know of anyone equal to Him?
      66. And the human being says, “When I am dead, will I be brought back alive?”
      67. Does the human being not remember that We created him before, when he was nothing?
      68. By your Lord, We will round them up, and the devils, then We will bring them around Hell, on their knees.
      69. Then, out of every sect, We will snatch those most defiant to the Most Merciful.
      70. We are fully aware of those most deserving to scorch in it.
      71. There is not one of you but will go down to it. This has been an unavoidable decree of your Lord.
      72. Then We will rescue those who were devout, and leave the wrongdoers in it, on their knees.
      73. When Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, “Which of the two parties is better in position, and superior in influence?”
      74. How many a generation have We destroyed before them, who surpassed them in riches and splendor?
      75. Say, “Whoever is in error, the Most Merciful will lead him on.” Until, when they see what they were promised-either the punishment, or the Hour. Then they will know who was in worse position and weaker in forces.
      76. God increases in guidance those who accept guidance. And the things that endure-the righteous deeds-have the best reward with your Lord, and the best outcome.

While initially there was a political split, some people used it as an opportunity to create a religious split to preache misguidance and today they are known an Shia. Sunnism is true Islam.

It started as political division, but evolved into theological division, Shias are many sects, but the main sects (twelvers and Ismailis) all give the Imam too much power and authority, according to them the Imam has omniscience like Allah, has certain level of power and control over the universe, and is infallible, meaning he can't make mistakes, which also means that the imam is a new source of revelation and jurisprudence. Also they say you can pray and ask your needs to the Imam intead of Allah.
This is basically Shirk. Those Shia who know quite well what they are doing are not muslims they are Kuffar.
The Sunnah are the only true Islam.

8:44 You have to know that we cannot be Muslim if we do not believe into olders revealed Books, perhaps there are others (Allah knows the best) but those mentioned in the Qur'an are: Zabour of Daoud (psalms of David), Tawrat of Moussa (Thorat of Moses), injil of Issa (The Gospel of Jesus) and finaly Qur'an of Muhammad (peace be upon all of prophets).
BUT, we claim that the writings (the hundred books that compose the bible) we currently have do not correspond to the original book, when you see "Gospel of Jesus(peace be upon him)" in the Qur'an, it's not refering to the actual Bible but to the original Book which is lost. For the bible, we don't even have the copy of the copy of the copy of the copy of the original. In addition, the proofs of falsification and errors are no longer need to be demonstrated. Yes, there are in it some true essences but the Qur'an is there to disentangle the true from the false. The Qur'an is also named as "Al-Furqan", the "discernment" between truth and falsehood.

False assertations on the Bible if those did not exist in their true copy how did he refer to them? If they stopped existing why wasn't it revealed to him before he made his recommendations.

@@abdulali8738 I admire your dedication and I did read thru what you wrote but christians will not share false information. Unfortunately Isa and Jesus are not the same. Isa in the Quran is not Jesus Christ of the Bible. The message of Isa and the family of Isa is not the same with Jesus Christ. Jesus the Christ was not a brother to Aaron. He was not born of Miriam neither was he born in the East near a Palm tree. Jesus who christians worship was the son of Mary by the Holy Ghost born in betlehem in a Manger Luke 2v1-20. He had James, Joses, Simon, and Judas as brothers not Aaron Matthew 13v52-56 . He said we should honour Him the same way we honour God because He and God are equal. 2 He says if any comes and teaches something different from what he taught such a person is not from God John 16v7-15. What did Jesus teach: 1.That he and God are one therefore He is God John 10v30-33 and those who worship him will be hated by the world because they do not know God nor Jesus John 15v18-27 2. That Jesus is the beginning and the end. 3. That he Jesus has the power to forgive sins and all humans are his children John10v 6-11 4. Jesus has power to send people to hell or heaven 5. That he Jesus was the God who appeared to Moses and the other prophets. 6. Jesus has power over life and death 7.Jesus is the Messiah who teaches us all things John 4v 8. We should pray in the name of Jesus John 15v16, John 16v26. 9. Jesus came out of God and is God John 16v27. 10. Jesus is the light of the world John 9v3-5. There are many more in Matthew, in the writings of Moses, Isaiah the prophet and many more Jesus is God and he is not Isa your imams need to stop lying to you about christian teachings.

52  We never sent a messenger before you, or a prophet, but when he desired, Satan interfered in his wishes. But Allah nullifies what Satan interjects, then Allah affirms His revelations. Allah is Knowing and Wise.
53  To make Satan’s suggestions a trial for those whose hearts are diseased, and those whose hearts are hardened. The wrongdoers are in deep discord.

54  So that those gifted with knowledge would know that it is the truth from your Lord, and thus believe in it, and so that their hearts soften to it. Allah guides those who believe to a straight path.

55  Those who disbelieve will remain in doubt about it-until the Hour takes them by surprise, or there comes upon them the suffering of a desolate day.
56  The authority on that Day will be Allah’s. He will judge between them. Those who believe and do good works will be in the Gardens of Delight.
      ﴿٥٧﴾ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا فَأُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ

Very nice and interesting take. I just want to say the reason why we didn't start surah 9 with Bismillah is because it is revealed that way. Everything in the Quran is Allah words revealed to prophet Muhammad through Angel Gabriel, thus everything that is written follow how it is revealed.
Another thing I want to add is the Quran isn't compiled in chronological order, it is compiled in the way Allah order us to compile it to. But why didn't Allah revealed it in the way it is compiled? it's because every verse came down in accordance to the situation that our prophet Muhammad going through at his moment in his live. That's why sometimes when we wants to understand a verse in the Quran, it is important to look at the background when the verse is revealed.
Last thing, Allah told us if there's any dispute/disagreement between the believer, we should refer it back to Allah and his Messenger. At the time of the prophet, you can go to prophet and ask him about things, and this is what became hadist today. That's why there's a chain of narration in hadist so if the chain is strong it is guaranteed that it really came from the prophet and his companions.

Surah 9 is surah 9, if it is a continuation of 8 then number of surah becomes 113. Although the surah 9 has no Bismillah, there are still 114 Bismillah through out the Quran. The fact that we left it as it is, is just another proof that Quran is still pristinely intact. No one tries to "correct" it, that would be wrong anyway.

  • @slimbahroun737

    WRONGGGG !!!!
"HADITHS" in Arabic means literally "TELLINGS" from the verb "haddatha" which means"to tell"...
All the Hadiths are related to the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (PEACE BE UPON HIM AND ON ALL THE PROPHETS WITH HIM) which represent the practical part of Islam : how to pray and how many times in the day, how to act in life ...etc.
So, it has nothing to do with the explanation of the Quran which has its own books to comment or explain it...
Finally, you have to know that jurisprudence in Islam is based on two major pillars : Quran and Sunna (The Hadiths of the Prophet)...

Some insights and trivia worth considering. The Quranic expression bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm, which means; "in the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful", as you mentioned in your video, is how all Suras in the Qur'an start, with the exception of one. It is in fact the very first expression one reads when opening the Qur'an.
The Bible actually starts with the same prefixed preposition "bi", with the same meaning as the Arabic equivalent. Genesis 1:1 reads, in transliteration, bə·rê·šîṯ ’ĕ·lō·hîm bā·rā, with bə and bi being the same word, and they're pronounced the same. Genesis 1:1 says; "in the beginning Elohim created..". The root of the Hebrew rê·šîṯ literally means "[the] head", which expresses the start of something, in this case, or the first, the beginning: as the head is at the top, and therefor precedes whatever's below it. Similar usages are found in other linguistic families, as well. The English "ahead" also includes the meaning of a literal "head", but pertains to time, sequence, duration, etc. The "head of an organization" is the leader; i.e. the first and foremost, the most important. The Dutch "hoofdzakelijk" includes the word for "head", but the word here really means first, main, primary. "Genesis" is called "Bereshit" by Jews. The Qur'an and the Bible both start with the letter "ba".
The Quranic expression isn't the first occurance (of said expression), historically, according to the Qur'an itself. The Qur'an mentions that when Prophet Sulayman(as) wrote a letter to the Queen of Sheba, he(as) started his letter with the expression bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīm, which means that while this is part of the Qur'an; the same saying was also used in the past by other prophets of God.
The names mentioned therein are also Biblical.
For example, in Psalm 116:5 we find:
    ḥan-nūn YHWH wə-ṣad-dîq wê-lō-hê-nū mə-ra-ḥêm
Gracious is YHWH, and righteous, and our God is merciful.
Here, ra-ḥêm is the equivalent of raḥīm in the Qur'an.
    Deuteronomy 4:31
    kî ’êl ra·ḥūm YHWH ’ĕ-lō-he-ḵā
for God [is] merciful [and merciful is] YHWH your God
    Exodus 34:6
And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed: Lord, Lord, benevolent God, Who is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness and truth.
    ’êl ra-ḥūm wə-ḥan-nūn
    God [is] merciful and compassionate
The famous Jewish exegete Rashi commented on this, saying: "This is God's Attribute of Compassion."
    Exodus 33:19
    wə-ri-ḥam-tî ’eṯ-’ă-šer ’ă-ra-ḥêm
..and I will have compassion when I wish to have compassion
This is actually a very important theological article of faith. Muslims agree. Allah forgives whoever He wills, and He is not obliged to punish sinners. I mention this because Christians often say that God "must" punish the sinners, otherwise it's unjust (not to do so). We disagree with this, as it doesn't befit God that it's incumbent upon Him to punish sinners. He punishes whoever He wills, and He forgives whoever He wills. After all, the attributes of Wrath and Mercy pertain to His punishment and forgiveness. Our good deeds do not obligate God to reward us (for them), nor is He obliged to punish sinful actions. There are no criteria that God must meet in order to forgive a sinful creature. He is free and He does with creation whatever He wills. As the Bible states: God is compassionate whenever He wills it, and His will is absolute. He forgives out of Mercy. It's His favor. Forgiveness is a gift, and a gift, by definition, is free.
    Isaiah 60:10
    ḇir-ṣō-w-nî ri-ḥam-tîḵ
..according to My favor I have had mercy on you
The Jews use the "Thirteen Attributes" to pray to God, and these are names of God, which includes ra-ḥêm; The Merciful. The Qur'an is using the same terminology. You call upon God by using the names that He Himself revealed to the prophets, and so when you read the beginning of every chapter in the Qur'an, you are in fact calling upon the Merciful God by using this attribute of His. In His name, you then read whatever has been revealed to prophet Muhammad(saw). May Allah guide the sincere seeker.

1:03 Small correction, prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not know how to read or write. Moreover, the stories of the prophets of old that are in the Qur'an were not known by Muhammad (PBUH) prior to becoming a prophet. We as Muslims believe that the Qur'an is the literal word of God Almighty, which was recited by the angel Gabriel to the prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In fact, the Qur'an has many sections where it speaks directly to prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which shows that it was not written by him.

Your video unexpectedly popped up on my Home Screen and for some reason I decided to watch it as I had a bit of extra time, and I am glad I did.
I like your objectivity and neutrality as I feel the only way you can truly learn is if we try to look at things from the perspective of the other faith group and I don’t think you necessarily need to change your beliefs to do that.
As a matter of fact, seeing you being objective yet still firm in your Christian beliefs not only makes me respect you more but actually leads me to conclude that you are a good Christian.
And I am not saying that to flatter you or be nice to you or anything like that, I am genuinely being sincere with you because over the past decade I have personally observed evangelical Christian apologists in particular on TH-cam and on the internet who confuse issues, falsely manipulate the narrative and fraudulently spread falsified information about Islam and Muslims, and if I am going to be honest with you it left a really bad impression with me, and had I not grown up with Christian friends I could have easily been lead to believe that spreading misconceptions was acceptable within the Christian ethical standards.
But I thank God for people like you and like Pastor Bob Roberts Jr who do the opposite and say “I don’t need to distort the beliefs of other faiths because the Christian thing to do is represent other faiths objectively because I am firm in my beliefs and truth matters and I can disagree with others while correctly representing what they believe“
I also went through the posts and found out that your video have started a conversation, which I personally think is brilliant because people tend to learns much more if the conversation is a dialogue instead of a monologue.
I did read posts that were correcting some minor misunderstandings that you expressed about the Muslim position like the author of the Quran, the differences between Quran and Hadith, the view of the corruption of the Bible which I think is a big topic that people cannot address superficially or casually in a comment section of a TH-cam video!!!! And although I do agree with many of those corrections, I don’t think it is a reason for me to not be impressed with your attempt to stay objective and neutral.
So ….thank you …. You earned my respect

P.S. Just in case you were interested in learning more in depth about topics such as what you referred to as “the corruption of the Bible”, or Hadith and Quran, or the Sunni - Shia split…etc as well as the commonality and differences among the Abrahamic faiths (Judaism / Christianity / Islam) while you were also interested in high quality academic standards then a good place to start is a comparative religion TH-cam channel that I can recommend called “Blogging Theology”.
Paul Williams, the channel author presents material that specializes in Abrahamic religions comparative study and presents short videos sighting passages from books written by renowned Theologians, scholars and academics on those subjects. But he doesn’t only do that because he interviews a lot of them as well and usually ends up asking them the sort of questions I personally would have in mind. (And that’s one of the reasons I like his channel)
I am recommending it because it introduces the viewers to the works of renowned scholars that ,if people find engaging, would then have the option to buy the books and read them for themselves and also look up more lectures on the topic. But even for a person who is not into conducting a thorough research, it’s highly engaging and educational.
      Two disclaimer though:
      1. Paul Williams is a convert to Islam
      2. The academics and scholars hail from institutions such as Yale, Harvard, Cambridge university, Oxford university…etc so it is not always faith based and can be on the critical and analytical side sometimes, but equally it is also balanced with a religious perspective as Rabbis, Deacons and Imams are also on the list of interviewees.
I know I typed an essay, but I can’t tell you how refreshing your objectivity was in my opinion
It was Good to bump into your video

@Asu Ngullie Prophet Mohammed never said that, and please don’t try to teach me wrong things about the Quran because I know the Quran much better than you do because I have literally memorized it (in our tradition we call that being a Hafith).
Why do you people manipulate thing? We have literally responded to those false claims with evidence ad nauseam!!!
Religious truth is not about verbal trickery or scamming people of other faiths with redacted evidence and false claims like what I have seen people like you do
I literally just watched a debate yesterday between Ijaz Ahmad and Dr Michael Brown, where Dr Brown was literally just making general faith based empty claims and repeating inaccurate statements that have been discredited by western secular scholars while brother Ijaz was making targeted statements while sightings evidence for each of the statements he made
Why can’t you people be objective and academically accurate?
      One genuine piece of advice:
I genuinely care less about what you believe on a personal level and I can very easily respect you while disagreeing with what you believe, but please don’t be shallow and at least put in some genuine effort to try to understand those claims you posted above before publicly addressing people of other faiths, or otherwise, use those encounters with people of other faiths as a learning opportunities to deepen your understanding.
I have no interest in engaging with trolls
I will pray for your guidance
May the Creator of the heavens and earth always guide all of us to the truth
      Salam, Peace ✌️ ☮️

Muslims believe that there was a Gospel of Jesus written in Aramaic (or Hebrew) and it was literally the message of God delivered through Jesus. Muslims also believe that the modern Gospels in Greek and other languages are only interpretations of the original Book and were also corrupted by different people. Interestingly, most Christian scholars also believe that their Gospels have multiple authors throughout history and they were not written by Jesus or his disciples. More interestingly, different Christian denominations have different versions of the Bible. Even the numbers of books and chapters are completely different. Muslims think that the Gospel of Thomas found last century is the most authentic and close to the original one.

The Qur'an is the main and prime source of Islamic teachings. The legal status of the Qur'an is higher than the hadith because the hadith is the implementation of the teachings of the Qur'an.
Therefore the Qur'an interprets itself. The Qur'an cannot be interpreted by hadith, but it is the Qur'an that interprets hadith.

      1. In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

A little correction about what you said at around the 9-minute mark. You said that Mohammed (saw) commended the bible but that modern-day Muslims have decided that the bible is now corrupted because it contradicts the Quran, to clarify firstly the Quran was not written by Muhammed it is the literal word of Allah and in surah two Allah has said Himself that the people of the book have changed what was revealed to them. Meaning that parts of the original Torah and the original bible were rewritten by the Jews and Christians. That's why we believe that they have been corrupted, not because we decided that they were, but because Allah has told us so in the Quran.

No the Quran is from God to the prophet Mohamed. It was memorized by thousands the prophet companions but it was transcribed by the companions in one book which continues to this day. No one has the authority to change anything in the Quran it is preserved in it's original language. It has been memorized fully by people from the time of the prophet to now and to the end of the world. Presently there is an estimated 200 million person who memorized the Quran fully by heart not just certain chapters. So even if you try to burn all the copies of the Quran it is memorized in the heart of people.

Prophet Mohamed is not the author of
The Quran……it was simply revealed to him through
    The Angel Gabriel.
It is the only religious book that has not been tempered with and from the time of the Prophet life itself hence other 150m Muslims have memorized it cover to cover, Allah promised the this book will always be preserved.
Muslims do not accept any type of contamination adding or deleting text.
Pick it up and read for yourself you will find yourself immersed with what you will find, it will touch you emotionally and intellectually.

    Is Surah Maryam about Mary?
'Mary, daughter of Imran') is revered in Islam. The Qur'an refers to her seventy times and explicitly identifies her as the greatest woman to have ever lived.
In the Quran, her story is related in three Meccan surahs (19, 21, 23) and four Medinan surahs (3, 4, 5, 66). The nineteenth Surah, Maryam, is named after her.

When I read the Quran years ago today in a translated version, one funny thing I noted is that it alludes to stories in the old testament without telling them, I think it was the story of Joseph who went to Egypt. This means that the Quran depends on the old testament, so the correct canon would need to include the old testament as well.

Old Testament is the Torah haven’t you seen it in the Quran also Injil is mentioned in the Quran now both are corrupted its no more the real message given to those prophets

I suggest you to read more. In the Quran, the story of Joseph (a.s) always refers the ruler of the land with the title King. While the story of Moses (a.s) refers the ruler as Pharaoh. But in the bible, there are no distinction. Both the story of Joseph (a.s) and Moses (a.s) refer the ruler as Pharaoh.
If the Quran depends on the story on the old testament, it would use the term Pharaoh on both prophets' story. Guess which book is correct according to historian?
Moreover the Bible mention that Moses' Pharaoh body got lost, while in the Quran, it said the body will be preserved for the people after him. Take another guess on which book is correct about the preservation of the Pharaoh's body.

Your #2 is way off. The Quran is the word of Allah. Hadith are not. Hadith are what the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The books of Hadith are compilations of sayings of the Prophet. Some Hadith are fabricated. The way you know this is if they contradict the Quran they are false. You also made a huge mistake in #1 when you said Muhammad wrote the Quran. The Quran was the direct revelation of Allah to him.

Thank you for better helping me understand how Muslims view the Quran and the Hadiths. As a Christian, I recognize I may not agree on the Quran being direct revelation from Allah. However, my goal is to better understand other religions so that I can better understand how other people see the world. I think it's not by agreeing on everything, but at least by having a better understanding of other beliefs that we can grow stronger communities albeit not perfect. So, I appreciate your input and will keep that in mind for the future.

I'm glad you're covering the Quran. Another interesting fact about the Quran is its order. It's not in a chronological or thematic order, but rather from longest verses to shortest. It would be interesting to know why it's done this way. The books of the Old and New Testament already existed in Muhammed's day, so if they had been corrupted, He would have said so. Another interesting fact is that Muhammed used the term "Muslim" for anyone believing and following Allah, and Allah is just the Arabic word for God in English. So Muhammed refers to Jesus and Moses as "Muslims", and I would think that any sincere true Christian or Jew could also be called Muslims. The problem we have in the West is the centuries old rivalry and propaganda against Muslims. In the movies Muslims wear black and the Christians wear white, not so subtle. During most of our history people were illiterate and the only information they received in the Christian world was from the local priest.
The Shia/Sunni divide is centered on who should succeed the Prophet Muhammed after his death. The Shia believe that Muhammed verbally stated that His son-in-law Ali should succeed Him. The Sunni believe that Abu Bakr, Muhammed's father-in-law and senior follower of Muhammed, should be the first Caliph of Islam.
My guess is that many Muslims expected that the Bible should be just an older version of the Quran, but if you consider that the teachings from God are like a medicine for the spiritual ills of the time, then you wouldn't expect the medicine to be exactly the same from age to age. It would make sense that a doctor would diagnose your illness and prescribe the appropriate medicine and treatment, and this would be a good analogy in religion also. Spiritual medicine should be tailored to the needs at the time of the Prophet, not the needs of bygone eras.

Peace to you. The order of the Quran is not arbitrary; it is the order in which the Prophet (s.a.w) recited it at least once during Ramadan before his death. Those who compiled it after his death simply followed that as the order of recitation. And although it conforms roughly to longest chapters (Surahs) to shortest, that is not quite so. This is especially true when you are reciting in Arabic, with proper pronunciation (which is the most important aspect of reading the Quran, called Tajweed), then you find that the assumed order of longest Chapter to shortest is merely apparent. The first Chapter is Faatiha, and it is only 7 verses. The second is Baqara -- and that is the longest. But the third Chapter Imran (the ancestral family of Jesus Christ) is shorter than the next four Chapters after it, even though it has more verses in it (200) than all the four except the 7th (Ar'Raf, which has 206 verses).
Then again the shortest Chapter of the entire Quran is not the last -- but about 7 places before the last. And when you approach the middle of the book, you find that this assumed descending order does not apply at all. The chapters are just random in relative length. There is, however, a commonality of themes or something else in the way the chapters are arranged. You may find, for example, that many Chapters with similar opening verses are "grouped" together. You will also find that the order of chapters conforms to certain delineation of recitation sections which is known to those familiar with the Quran, but easily escapes those that merely read the translations.
The Quran cannot really be translated. It is a combination of words, breath and emotions. Reading in Arabic is the only time you can capture most of these attributes. The English translation will give you the words -- but the breath is lost. And losing the breath is perhaps 99% of the Quran, if not more. The book is meant to be recited -- not "read."
Regarding the corruption or adulteration of the biblical scriptures, of course not only is this addressed in the Quran but -- as you intuited -- the Prophet (s.a.w) also spoke of it. This is not open to debate.
One false assumption we make is that because the biblical scriptures ante-date the Quran, therefore the muslims of the time would've seen or read them. This is fallacy. In those days, books were very rare, and scriptural books were especially guarded. You could not simply "buy" one or even be caught reading the scriptures if you were not of a priestly order or some other person privileged with access.

@@deolax1 Thank you for your explanation. It's true that books, actually scrolls in those days, were rare and expensive. On top of that most people were illiterate. About 90 % of the the people of the Roman Empire 2,000 years ago were illiterate. So the stories of Jesus in the early days were shared orally. It's too bad that non-Arabic speaking people are shut out from the beauty of the Quran.

The ninth surah does not begin “In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful” because of its anecdotal claim in terms of the sequence of events, the story of our master Solomon, peace be upon him, so that “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful” is mentioned as the seal of his message to the ends of the earth, and he is the first person to use it and it came after him in the Qur’an. With this, we understand that if it were not present at all in the surah, the book would have become 114 and 113 ^In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful^ and the book comes out of its balance for the number 19. Surah Maryam peace be upon her order 19. A nice note: There are people who are looking for “Solomon’s Seal” and it does not exist in the original, but all that is in the matter is that it is “Solomon’s Seal” and it is {{In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful}} and you see it on the door of every Surah, and it is used to initiate any matter, Our master Noah and the prayer of the ark for example [In the name of God its course and in the name of God its anchorage], show me the reflection of this on you

Correction: the mercy in Islam is repentance (which must be sincere and won't do the said sin ever again) is open as long as you're alive, Versus the mercy in Christian which is 'Love' and that as long as you believe in Jesus you'll enter paradise 'without question'. From there hell is out of the table like literally like it's no longer in the dictionary, Whatever sin you're doing or will do like what Hitler did and what Putin is doing right now as long as you didn't bomb the main churches the pontifex won't even interfere since he can't mention what's the consequence of christian killing others. Since hell is out of the question what's punishment you'll receive in heaven? In conclusion, "easy money" as long as you're not against the "authority" of the Church. I used authority not teaching since they will change their standing based on their interest like their stand on the LGBT right now.

You read it pure, undistorted and unchanged, *and Allah has told you that the people of the scripture (Jews and Christians) changed their scripture and distorted it, and wrote the scripture with their own hands and said, 'It is from Allah,' to sell it for a little gain.* Does not the knowledge which has come to you prevent you from asking them about anything? Words came down or delivered to Prophet Muhammad in batches and in no sequence. Only by instruction to Muhammad by Angle Gabriel the words were arranged. A verbal revelation and not in order (of revelation time) then formed a unique & beautiful/eloquent pattern with heavy messages in them.

Just to elaborate on an earlier post - a reply to someone here, the Shia Sunni dispute is THEOLOGICAL, the Sunnis have made it political. Yes, hahadith are important too but a little problematic at times. *The theological basis of Shia -Sunni difference is undisputed, and here is the evidence* :
Abu Bakr usurped the caliphate despite the event of Ghadir al-Khumm. Also, being ignorant of the Quran - he was illiterate so didn't read the Quran - had little idea of what 's in it.
*The Quranic verse of Aayat-ul-Ghadeer, also mentioned in various Prophetic aahaadeeth - all from SUNNI sources- makes clear who the Prophet's successor should be* !
*Aayat-ul-Ghadeer as worded in the compilation of Abdullah ibn Mas'uud, one of the first three Quran compilers - the other two being, Imam Ali and Ubayy ibn Ka'b. Here are Jalaaluddin as-Suyuuti and ash-Shaukani. two well-known Sunni scholars quoting ibn Mas'uud in their respective exegeses (tafaasiir)* :
*Imam Ali was mentioned in the Quran as mawlaa al-mo'mineen in one of the earliest Quran compilations*
يا ايها الرسول بلغ ما انزل اليك من ربك ان عليا مولى المؤمنين وان لم تفعل فما بلغت رسالته والله يعصمك من النلس
    Surah al-Maa'idah, 67
" *O'Prophet* ! *Convey what has been revealed to you from your Lord that Ali is the mawlaa (master / leader) of the believers and if you do not then you have conveyed God's message* , a God will protect you from the people (who mean harm)."

The ad hoc Quran committee of Uthman removed his name from the verse. Hardly any wonder that peopele keep saying that Imam Ali's name is not in the Quran. If it was removed obviously it won't be there!
Aayat-ul-Ghadiir was revealed in favour of Imam Ali as the two above sources say and as the 'asbaab-un-nozuul' below says:

Furthermore, the following declaration leaves no doubt who the Prophet(s) wanted as hiis successor:
"إن هذا أخي وصيّي وخليفتي فيكم فاسمعوا له وأطيعوه."
" *This is my brother, executor and successor (khaliifah). Listen to him and obey him* " [1,2,3,3]

Both Abu Bakr and Umar went against the Prophet's wish at Saqeefah and usurped the khilaafah. Furthermore, the usurpation the orchard of Fadak by Abu Bakr was on the basis of an invented hadeeth that no one else had ever heard and which flatly contradicts the Quran, a point Lady Fatimah, the Prophet's daughter made clear to Abu bakr.
*As a result of the debacle at Saqeefah and its violent aftermath, when on the orders of Abu Bakr, Umar led the attack on Lady Fatimah's house, she became angry with them both and stopped speaking to them until she died a few months later. Even Bukhari mentions that she was very angry with them* !.
*Fatima (s.a) was angry with Abubakr in Sahih-al-bukhari*
    th-cam.com/video/g_nPyn_oiEI/w-d-xo.html
*Above all, you need to ask who was Lady Fatimah's Imam after the Prophet's death. It could not be Abu Bakr, because she REJECTED him and stopped speaking to him & Umar till the day she died* .
*Who was the Imam of Sayyeda Fatema bint Mohammed (s)* ?- Kamal Haydari [ENG SUBS]
    th-cam.com/video/FkvMxYsmHUc/w-d-xo.html
*All of this bears serious thinking on the part of Muslims who fail to see the issues involved because they do not read our history, most of which has come down to us from SUNNI scholars* !

The 9th Sura or chapter, Tawbah, does not say to go out kill the disbelievers. Those verses have context. What to do when Muslims are persecuted, killed and driven out of their homes. In fact, Prophet Muhammad (p) had to flee 2/300 miles north of Makkah to avoid further persecution after having tolerated 13 years of persecution. So, the war verses have that context and more. Besides, Islam only has defensive war, and no holy war. There is a huge restriction on conduct of warfare. That is why, for example, as a religious state Iran has said repeatedly why it can’t have the atomic bomb. It’s strange that we condemn Iran for its religiosity, but don’t believe it when it says it’s religion does not allow it obtain WMD.

I’m glad you took the time to read the Quran. But some of the information you talked about was incorrect.
This is just my opinion for the viewers; It’s better to learn about Islam from a Muslim. Just like it would be better to learn about Christianity from a Christian.

Muslims don't claim the Bible and Torah is corrupted. You should read the Quran again to find that Allah ta'ala said that in the Quran.

Sarah nine does not have “In the Name of Allah the Merciful” because this phrase is PART of the chapter and it’s not in Sura 9 on purpose because it’s NOT part of the surah sine the surah itself starts by Allah distancing himself from the bad doers and that in itself in “Not the Mercy of God”. It’s not there is not because surah 9 is a continuation of surah 8. Where are you getting your information?

I started memorizing the Quran four years ago. I am 65 years old now and have memorised 14 chapters. Memorising it has helped me understand at a deeper level what I am attempting to memorise. I am always discovering treasures in the words and seeing how the verses link together and make sense. I had read the Quran several times but memorising is studying it at a deeper level. I am very happy as at this time of life I have time to do this. I just hope I had started when I was younger.

There certainly has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book. 16: through which Allah guides those who seek His pleasure to the ways of peace, brings them out of darkness and into light by His will, and guides them to the straight path.”

hadeeths are man written with a degree of human error and the prophet stated people will fabricate hadeeths after him so the way to judge a hadeeth is to weigh it next to the quran first and if contradicts with the quran its to be ignored

Its great of you to be open minded to learn things for yourself despite rumors about it, and even more admirable to admit that you had misconceptions about it , I respect you for that. It is written that in al bakraa verse 75 and Al nesaa verse 46 that previous holy books were corrupted, not that muslims decided for themselves : ) excuse me if thats not what you meant and I misunderstood you. You can argue that Quran is also corrupted since it was written probably ~23 years after prophet Mohammed PBUH died, but difference is that people memorised it letter by letter and anyone who memorise All of quran to this day gets a certificate of chain of reciter added before his name that reaches back to the prophet, and in the time of writing of Quran, they probably cross-checked memorisers of Quran before writing it down.

If you study the Qur'an, don't be half-hearted.. you should meet the imam at the mosque asking for an explanation of what is contained in the Qur'an..it's not good to learn the quran based on your understanding alone. because you don't have the basics of islam.. learn from the expert imam in the mosque..I come from the most Islamic countries in the world. and we live safely and peacefully side by side with other religious minorities..and respect each other.because in the al qoran it is explained..your religion For you and my religion for me. So there has never been a racist against religion.. even though they are a minority..We live with respect for each other. That's actually Islam which was exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad. Islam is a religion of peace..
