@24:35 Took me a long time to figure this out myself: During retreat, units cannot enter hexes that would cost them 3 movement points (manual p. 27). Usually, a forest hex costs infantry unit only 2 MPs. But in snow, forest costs 1 MP extra. Thus, neither infantry nor mobile units can retreat into/through snow forest hexes.
Welcome back! :-D It looked a bit doubtful at times, but you pulled it off yet again. Incredible victory! The _cornered_ thingy is sometimes confusing. Probably advanced math applied there. 😵 Btw., thanks for your thoughts at the end.
@@CDataCD I believe it's because infantry units get only 2 movement points to spend while retreating. Forest hex in snow requires 3 MP if there isn't a road.
;) Some things are just better left unmentioned. I don't think it's the hardest, that was the Wacht am Rhein standalone scenario (from the German perspective).
@@NightPhoenixnp This seems way more frustrating than the others...just because it lets you get so far into it and still miss a single move that screws everything up.
What if, you tried and stood still all along front line, given the most-best specialist steps to your better mobile units, and tried to take on one objectif at a time?
Man, this scenario. I tried to be clever and lure them into a pocket up around Krasnogorsk, but once they punched through I couldn't close it off, they have so many tanks up there. You've just got to hold every inch of ground and hope they run out of steps first. edit: how the fuck
It's not that bad - but they take punishment real fast. Their best use is encircling - but they can still pack a punch against unprotected german infantry.
Great to see you taking another crack at this DLC!

That seems to be the case indeed. Thanks.
good to see you back
Good game! All goals are met. I'm looking forward to the next mission.

Cornered happens when a unit is attacked and caused to retreat but has no hexes to retreat to, all its remaining steps get suppressed as a result.
@@MrBiggergun Thanks, mate! But do you know why for example at 24:32 NP's unit didn't retreat to the hex behind it but was cornered instead?

@@MrBiggergun Sounds reasonable. Thanks again!
Welcome back man. Now then…. Forward! Ura!!!
Well played, i certainly dont have the patience to spend an hour on each scenario
He's back folks!
Impressive considering you only took a third of the casualties compared to how it went historically
Great job, congratulations!! (Guessing what the muted expletive at 1:13:35 was XD)
Do you think this was the hardest mission so far in all the DLCs?
lol @muted expletive - NP is always the gentleman. :-D

I mean milking breakthroughs in total entrechment, see how all that goes... Would that be feasible, in campaign long run?
Maybe, but you need more than 5 turns for such a tactic. That's the dealbreaker here, to get everything in 5 turns you have to be aggressive yourself.
@@NightPhoenixnp I see thank you.
No Mapwipe? Is this even Night Phoenix anymore? ;D
;) There is always next time....

It's complicated. =P
How many attempts?
I needed like 6, on easy.
@@luismdgr I had 6 or 7 on this one too i think, it was a tough one.
@@NightPhoenixnp You played in a harder difficulty, that has more merit, I´ve been following you for a while, you´re very good at this game
Gefeliciteerd!
The Soviet tanks units seem to be too weak to have any use.

This mission makes me so angry
It's the hardest (and most luck based) mission of the DLC imho. Good luck, you'll need it.
@@NightPhoenixnp I did it before, I have to be able to do it again
