For what it's worth, I think starting with SF..4? Capcom decided to do away with ages so they wouldn't be beholden to any visual or timeline requirements. This is why we don't have official ages for any of the new cast, Lily for example.
But when you have ancient dudes like Oro, Gen, Gouken, Akuma and Goutetsu tearing ass through people, it wouldn't surprise me if things like physical excellence / ki mastery make age little more than a superficial number in this universe.

What I appreciate about this new theme for Zangief is that whereas his classic theme that was remix for SF4 and SF5, it gave that babyface tone for his character and while his personality is mostly the same in SF6, this time, his new theme gives that “oh snap this wrestler will break you in half and is dangerous” vibe. As a wrestling fan, I gotta appreciate how much more wrestling moves Zangief has this time
I think his theme became more heroic with every new installment. SFV may have the best rendition but this one is quite good.

@@nmr7203 They don't need to remix or sample old songs. SFA3 and the entire SF3 series have original themes. And they sound way better than any character theme in SF6.
@exaIgnus - Don't hang on nostalgia that hard. Most of SFA3's OST isn't as good as SF6. I just got finished listening to both of them, including the original OST version of SFA3.

I definitely respect SF6's choice to give everyone fresh new themes. It just makes this game feel even more new and exciting
Obviously, the only one who didn't get a new theme was Luke. His SFV theme just got remixed, which tells us that he was always meant to be an SF6 character.
Hard disagree. A theme is exactly that. Its THEIRS. It defines THEM.
Giving someone a NEW theme degrades the concept and remix concepts of all previous songs.
You can always make music different and still sound the same at its core.
SF4 had the best music we ever had in the franchise across the board. Wont ever have a games aoundtrack as on point as that ever again.

That's because they are full of personality. Capcom did great hiring different composers for SFV to really choose the good ones for SFVI.
The one I had been waiting for. I love how they included the Russian samovar guitar in there. And that build up at about 3:26 followed by the speed up. I can’t wait until it the whole album is released on iTunes so I can finally make this my ringtone.

I'm glad they abandoned the initial caricature characterization of him (well, partially at least). It was so cringy.
I dunno what issues SF developers have with Zangief, his character practically writes himself - a national hero who seeks to inspire others and through his legacy bring people together. No wrestling or muscle obsession necessary.
I'm probs never going to own a console I can play this on other than going to friends houses so I'm just living vicariously through these banging soundtrack updates !

I think it was very smart of Capcom to turn Zangief’s previous, almost comforting theme to reflect who Zangief is in person into a reflection of who he is in the ring, as a heel, as a wrestler who will break you in two if you dare face him. It really makes Zangief seem even more dangerous than he already is when fighting him in this game if this track comes on
Exactly, this theme tells you that when you're fighting Zangief, you're fighting a guy who's all business in the ring who will fold you like an accordion and plant you into the canvas like a tree, which totally contrasts with what Zangief is like outside the ring, a wholesome friendly giant who wants to see the best in you and see you at your best especially with your training.
He pretty much acts like most IRL wrestling heels where they're total bastards in the ring but outside they're as friendly as a kitten.

And they did it for the game where him walking forward is the least scary, since he's less of a grappler now
I was so looking forward to this theme from his trailer. Did not disappoint
Hard hitting, the cultural influence is so apparent in all of these themes it's amazing
I think what I enjoy most about these is hearing the different phases of the songs. 1:05 I would guess is the round 1 low health.... And man that sounds so dang good for fighting for your life/closing a round. I love it!
