cutscene supers are one thing, but this game having some cutscene supers where the opponent actually tries to fight back or even gets to participate a little (like in Jamie's) is SO fucking cool
Same, I also love the shot of his face at the end where it almost looks like he realized he went too far. This game is great at little character moments like that
@@Flurriestone I personally don't like that Jamie's super resets to neutral before he beats the tar out of you. At least with Luke the failed attempt to fight back happens during an overwhelming beatdown.
Lily’s supers gets way better for me when you realize she’s trying to do T-Hawk’s original super in SF4, where he bounces them off the ground and slams them down in the air, but she fails at it.
I love how JP's critical art is basically a better version of Kolin's SF5 super. Like, they both imprison the enemy in a tower of crystal or ice, and somehow JP's feels more brutal It really goes to show that presentation and better sound design could change how impactful an attack can be.
It's not just the sound though, JP's CA camera work is miles better and he doesn't just trap you in ice, he slams you on the ground and impales your body right after, then impales your limbs to hold you up and finishes you off by exploding your body with more spikes. Kolin just summons ice spikes to trap you and the ice breaks at the end, wildly different I'd say.
It's the fact that they are putting out great cinematic supers from the start, only makes you wonder what the later DLC character's supers are gonna look like.
21:46 my mans rolled his r that's crazy also i love how every single time ken says "koitsu de saigoda" in a super combo, it gets translated differently for the english version in ssf4 it was "one more for good measure" in sf5 it was "now for the finale" and now here it's the visceral "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP"
Honda's sumo pillows throwing after the super is a reference to what happens in sumo tournaments (or used to, I am not sure if it still does) whenever the public particularly loved a fight. Pretty cool to see it there!
I don't think a lot of these 10s are actually 10s. Jamie's a 10? REALLY? In MK that would be a 3 or 4, but here it gets mentioned WITH MK and called a TEN? The problem is that Max seems to be scaling these numbers SUPER high, meaning that anything halfway decent gets a 7 at the bottom, so everything halfway good is going to be 8-10, so the ratings really don't mean anything. People need to remember that a 5 means average, not bad. All the 7s and 8s should have been 4-6, and then everything would scale much more realistically.
And just to say, that's not me taking anything from the game itself. I think a lot of these are AWESOME. But the ratings are skewed way too high and it takes something out of the REALLY great supers.
@@RabidDogma despite the fact that I generally agree with Max, perhaps you are probably right, scaling is to high, but the trick is that the assessment is based on a specific game, not comparing with others, MK is MK, and this has never happened in SF, but I also don’t think that there are 10 everywhere, it’s just hype, the game just came out, it’s sf and there is bias and this is normal, in other games such scores were considered differently.
Ngl the level 3 supers/CA's all look amazing, my personal top 5 favorites are: 1. JP (mostly for his menacing laugh) 2. Zangief (also a literal death if it was MK fatality) 3. Luke (reminds me of Cassie Cage brutality but in SF6 and because I'm not bias) 4. Jaime (the ending is basically a MK fatality) 5. Manon (it has that Skullomania super from EX but with ballet)
I noticed on marisa’s critical super, after she punched and twisted your face, she leaves a heart impression on your face, so she quite literally gave you a taste of her love.
The quality of these supers is so great that 10 of the characters were given 10s for either their level 3 and or critical art! By far the best supers and cinematics in Street Fighter history by a globe! I don't think there was a single level 3 or critical art that got below an 8! Good job Capcom!
I love the little details in JP's Level 3. Like how he casually sidesteps a spike as the energy explodes out of the opponent or how he wipes off the tip of his cane in the CA. Really suits his polite yet extremely callous personality.
It feels like a holiday when Max rates the supers of a fighting game. Also we all know who super is an instant 11/10 when they have their classic costume on.
I love how in the CA they just go full Kung Fu B-movie with the grainy look and the sepia-tones in the background and the classic "yooooooooooohhhhhh" when he does the throat rip.
And the classic the end screen in mandarin, Jamie (for now, Akuma absolutely will have this) is the only one with a unique K.O screen. Bloody took Capcom long enough to have a Drunken Boxer.
25:28 thats both fitting to his character and an effective sendoff, yes i agree entirely with this addition should be there. the whole "gets hit so hard it had to play 2 more times"
These are always really fun simple videos to watch! Now we wait for the rate the super for Tatsunoko vs Capcom and Street Fighter x Tekken, I'm surprised they haven't been done yet
Not gonna lie the Marisa on Lily violence at the 6:20 mark was hilarious. Everything about it was funny. the way Lily posed with a smile before the first hit, the way she landed butt-up after the second one, it was all funny to me.
Amazing thing to note, is how long the camera lingers on the _opponent_ during Ryu's Shoryuken-Supers. Like, you see EXACTLY how high they flew, and from where they fall.
I’ve never been heavy into fighting games but got into the FGC around 2018 EVO as just a spectator. I appreciate how much Max understands the respect done towards so many characters in this and the attention to detail.
Honestly, JP's lvl 3 and CA are enough for me to put him next in line of characters I want to learn after I get my bearings and relearn Juri/Ken since I haven't played since vanilla SF4 lolol
Dude, everything about this old fart goes so hard. The theme, his godlike supers, JP is ridiculously flashy for a Bison replacement. I don’t even mind the fact he’s a zoner, he’s that badass.
NGL, I've been wondering about how that would look for a while, and given some get extra hits for Mega evolution, a few get multiple versions which could also be rated for their upgrades.
more cutscene = better with Max always. I often appreciate ones that are shorter and to the point so you don't have to put down your controller while waiting for it to finish.
True but that’s from a gameplay standpoint. Of course it’s gonna get old after awhile. But he’s rating them off of visual flair. That would be dumb if he rated them badly because it’s too long, and would distract him from the game 😂. The criteria is literally based off how they LOOK! That’s why he rates install supers low, because they don’t LOOK cool. It has nothing to do with gameplay.
Marisa's Level 1 super actually has a third version you should check out. If you get hit by a low during her charge up she punches with a huge uppercut instead of a haymaker.
Ken’s biggest one is probably one of my favorite supers in all of fighting games. It’s not the flashiest, it doesn’t have the most beats, or the most camera angles, but the impact, the sound design, the rhythm of each hit, the voice line at the end, the fact it’s a pretty much perfect evolution of his old supers, the fact it clearly shows how much Ken has changed, it’s pitch perfect 🤌Easily my favorite in the game.
A little detail in Manon's critical art, the song she is singing is a french lullaby "Il était un petit navire". But the lullaby is about a sailor about to be eaten by his starving shipmates, lullabies are fun.
I recently learned this but the reason why e. Honda has those square things being thrown is because its a sort of tradition where if a sumo wrestler gets a big win they throw the pillow seats they have. Im not sure about specifics so sorry if i get stuff wrong.
I just now noticed it but during JP's Lvl 3 Critical Art, he actually cleans his cane and throws the cleaning cloth over his shoulder and you can see it flutter behind him as the Psycho Power spikes explode. I also feel that Cammy's Lvl 3 is better as the Non-Critical Art than as one...I'd swap the animations for them personally so that her CA animation is the standard and her standard Lvl 3 is the CA.
My favorite thing about JP's level 3 is something he *doesn't* do. His level 3 is the only time in his entire moveset that he will ever touch his opponent with his hands. Not even in his throws. He will literally never get his hands dirty unless he's backed into a corner and has no other options.
@@kevingriffith6011 True, he's a bit of a clean freak as one of his likes is "Cleaning" and one of his dislikes is getting his cloths dirty. I didn't notice that till you pointed out that he doesn't use his hands to physically touch them except in his Level 3.

cutscene supers are one thing, but this game having some cutscene supers where the opponent actually tries to fight back or even gets to participate a little (like in Jamie's) is SO fucking cool
Honestly my favorite part is the very end where he has to stop and take a breath because if he doesn't he might actually kill somebody.
Lily’s supers gets way better for me when you realize she’s trying to do T-Hawk’s original super in SF4, where he bounces them off the ground and slams them down in the air, but she fails at it.
24:52 same reaction HAHAHA Zangief is the best, always having a blast
JP's critical is basically a Guilty Gear Instant Kill
Slayer: If I may...
@@Ramsey276one May: I if slayer
@@fool8304 JP: Oh? A One Piece cosplay- WHAT JUST…!?!
XD
The last part of JP super is quite similar to Kolin's in SF 5, it's just not too many people remember hers.
I love how JP's critical art is basically a better version of Kolin's SF5 super.
Like, they both imprison the enemy in a tower of crystal or ice, and somehow JP's feels more brutal
It really goes to show that presentation and better sound design could change how impactful an attack can be.
Kolin’s CA would be great if the last hit weren’t so flaccid.
It's the laugh. The laugh sells it.
Probably because he FLOOR DUNKS YOU before the crystal burial....
The way Gief clothesline's you to Hell at the start of his big supers is immaculate.
It's the fact that they are putting out great cinematic supers from the start, only makes you wonder what the later DLC character's supers are gonna look like.
21:46
my mans rolled his r that's crazy
also i love how every single time ken says "koitsu de saigoda" in a super combo, it gets translated differently for the english version
in ssf4 it was "one more for good measure"
in sf5 it was "now for the finale"
and now here it's the visceral "SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP"
Damn everyone in this game has so much energy and Charisma
@TytheGuy We found internet, he has the tattoo on his arm
I like how he introduces Jamie CA flat out as the 'mortal kombat fatality'
Honda's sumo pillows throwing after the super is a reference to what happens in sumo tournaments (or used to, I am not sure if it still does) whenever the public particularly loved a fight. Pretty cool to see it there!
This goes hard. Always love this series.
"You get a 10/10, you get a 10/10, you get a 10/10, you get a 10/10, you get a 10/10, you get a 10/10, you get a 10/10" - Max
You know it’s a really good game when there’s a lot of 10 supers
Or Max really likes Street Fighter thus will like the supers more than a casual fan, a lot of these are absolutely not 10 or 9 out of 10s
@@RabidDogma despite the fact that I generally agree with Max, perhaps you are probably right, scaling is to high, but the trick is that the assessment is based on a specific game, not comparing with others, MK is MK, and this has never happened in SF, but I also don’t think that there are 10 everywhere, it’s just hype, the game just came out, it’s sf and there is bias and this is normal, in other games such scores were considered differently.
he's being generous, like the new protagoinst guy, at best it's a 7
I'm very fond of the stock explosion sound that plays when Zangief lariats you in his level 3
3:02:
"That's a 10 outta 10."
"Of COURSE I'd win!"
XD That's just hilarious, idk what else to say.
Really appreciate how smoothly Luke’s lvl 3 catches from juggles, animation-wise
Ngl the level 3 supers/CA's all look amazing, my personal top 5 favorites are:
1. JP (mostly for his menacing laugh)
2. Zangief (also a literal death if it was MK fatality)
3. Luke (reminds me of Cassie Cage brutality but in SF6 and because I'm not bias)
4. Jaime (the ending is basically a MK fatality)
5. Manon (it has that Skullomania super from EX but with ballet)
24:36
Zangief: Time to get serious!
* misses *
Zangief: ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!! These Supers are legitimately good! At least most of them…
Man, CAPCOM nailed it with this game! STREET FIGHTER IS BACK!!
Finally characters have a lot of supers and ultimates
They made him so fucking cool that it makes me forget how annoying he is sometimes
They gave this man so much Style and Drip in damn near everything, that I don’t even mind the lame reveal that he was Lord Bison’s accountant.
It feels like a holiday when Max rates the supers of a fighting game. Also we all know who super is an instant 11/10 when they have their classic costume on.
I can think of two pretty good reasons why that might be.
Ugh, you boys need to get a room. And I severely doubt Manon will be any therapeutic for either of you.
Oh I just love all the round end animations. They all just exhibit so much character and understanding of the cast.
They went all in with the CAs!! I might prefer Cammy’s regular level 3 more though ;)
Ah I see Max agrees lol.
Guys guys we can all agree that her classic costume makes them better.
@@roxtechs idk I think the classic costume looks kinda goofy.
@@roxtechs nah the new costume is way better
Dee jay hair was in the way 😂😂
@@roxtechs nah, you‘re only saying that because you’re horny. Her classic costume looks absolutely ridiculous, ESPECIALLY during her lvl. 3/CA
The Zangief flipping taunt post finish is actually a pro wrestling warm up exercise, to loosen up the neck and shoulders before training and matches
Jamie has some of my favorite moves overall so his super is going to be high up for me no matter what
Same same
I love how in the CA they just go full Kung Fu B-movie with the grainy look and the sepia-tones in the background and the classic "yooooooooooohhhhhh" when he does the throat rip.
Luke’s super as he yells “YOURE GOING TO MEMPHIS” is fucking hilarious
Gief just randomly doing Mike Tyson’s neck workout is hilarious
For real?
I know that as a wrestling thing, but A BOXER?
Not gonna lie the Marisa on Lily violence at the 6:20 mark was hilarious. Everything about it was funny. the way Lily posed with a smile before the first hit, the way she landed butt-up after the second one, it was all funny to me.
Okay... The Zangief back bends on his head thing was even funnier.
Idk dude that level one from Marisa got me pretty good. The sheer size difference is hysterically funny, that’s definitely a mortal kombat fatality😂
Marisa is my favorite purely because shes so brutal, and the "beat the fuck outta ya" factor in everything she does.
Juggernaut will flatten you.
0:44 I love that Luke’s Level 2 is just his CA from SF5
Amazing thing to note, is how long the camera lingers on the _opponent_ during Ryu's Shoryuken-Supers. Like, you see EXACTLY how high they flew, and from where they fall.
I’ve never been heavy into fighting games but got into the FGC around 2018 EVO as just a spectator. I appreciate how much Max understands the respect done towards so many characters in this and the attention to detail.
8:25 I’m sorry but Lily falling on on Marisa made me snort laugh. 10/10
The devs really put their hearts into this game and it shows. Also Manon’s CA is incredible.
With 22 characters instead of 18 I’d agree. I don’t like the drip fed dlc either.
Chun-Li's thighs save lives.
She can wrap them around my neck any day!
9:34, Max's reaction to JP's celebration is just hilarious. 😂
It is very badass pose to be fair.
@Brother Nox true 😆
@@rampant1apartLiterally everything about this man goes so hard to be fair.
You can tell Jp is holding back. He has the potential to be a devastating force of nature 😱
Kimberly's Level 2 super has some real maximum spider vibes
JP's Level 3 Super Has some Dr. Doom Level 3 vibes to me as well
Cinematic. The way a level 3 Super should be.
Really like how Ryu’s Denjin charge affects his first 2 supers, then his Critical Art gives him the same lightning effects for his lvl 3. It’s neat.
Honestly, JP's lvl 3 and CA are enough for me to put him next in line of characters I want to learn after I get my bearings and relearn Juri/Ken since I haven't played since vanilla SF4 lolol
Juri/Ken were my mains in super sf4 too and I love how much fun they are to play again
Wait till you see his perfect win animation and his outro.
They are both godlike as well.
Dude, everything about this old fart goes so hard. The theme, his godlike supers, JP is ridiculously flashy for a Bison replacement. I don’t even mind the fact he’s a zoner, he’s that badass.
@@lennydickson8845 Need more badass old man like JP in fighting games.
Will probably never happen, but I’d love to see him do a Rate the Super for Pokkén Tournament
NGL, I've been wondering about how that would look for a while, and given some get extra hits for Mega evolution, a few get multiple versions which could also be rated for their upgrades.
@@Saxdude26 aren’t megas always included since you have to press the button twice and the first press turns you mega?
Yessss, that game has shockingly good supers

(10 seconds later)
Max: I am hella biased
Jamie: “it’s time to train”
Also Jamie: *rips your throat out*
definatelty without a doubt the cleanest anims we've had in sf terms
18:03 IM FUCKING DYING BRO IMAGINE SEEING THAT IRL☠️
21:51 Ken downwards punch reminds me of Evil Ryu’s ultra combo in sf4 and Asura Wrath.
more cutscene = better
with Max always.
Raging demon is going to be a visual masterpiece. SFV made it even better and 6 will just be the icing on the cake.
After playing it all day this is exactly what I needed. World tour is surprisingly rich with content.
Yeah, the CAs and Level 3s are all really good. Gotta hand it to the artists and animators who worked on this game. They really killed it.
What I like about Luke's Level 2 is it's his SFV CA but like, they fixed the angle/camerawork like Max remarked on back in RTS SFV edition. :D
i like how lukes level 2 is basically his old CA just reworked into a much better looking super
A little detail in Manon's critical art, the song she is singing is a french lullaby "Il était un petit navire". But the lullaby is about a sailor about to be eaten by his starving shipmates, lullabies are fun.
Nah Max, 20:32 Guile's CA has him doing one more flash kick in comparison to the Level 3
Oh that's sick, I never noticed that about his CA
My favorite thing about JP's level 3 is something he *doesn't* do. His level 3 is the only time in his entire moveset that he will ever touch his opponent with his hands. Not even in his throws. He will literally never get his hands dirty unless he's backed into a corner and has no other options.
@@kevingriffith6011 True, he's a bit of a clean freak as one of his likes is "Cleaning" and one of his dislikes is getting his cloths dirty. I didn't notice that till you pointed out that he doesn't use his hands to physically touch them except in his Level 3.
17:12 spectators throwing the cushions from their benches/bleachers is a thing in sumo. Really nice touch
I can’t wait to see what Akuma’s raging demon will look like I’m hoping it will look like a fatality like how JP’s critical art is but I’m hoping they bring back the idea of showing glimpses but not everything to you while he does the raging demon like in SF5
Jesus they went fully into the foot stuff with Juri. Like I know she's evil horny in this game but seriously, REALLY GOING FOR IT AREN'T YOU DEVS?
They know how to sell the game, they know their audience.
FFS, Maron is battling Juri on the amount of "Why so much foot imagery" scale.
@@Sassaparilla There has to be a different audience. Everyone who plays Street Fighter can't be THIS horny. Like spiritually I need that to be true
@@Sassaparilla Yeah, I noticed that. Like in Manon's Lv.3 super startup pose, her foot is prominent but a bit out-of-focus from the depth of field.
Juri's feet are always very in-focus and often a major focal point of the shot. They intentionally fit two different kink aesthetics.
Manon's take on the foot thing is more _"graceful, and low-key but not actually"_ and Juri's is more _"unabashed fetish content"._ Either way, I'm here for it!
@@Multifixated Street Fighter tends to blend into the Darkstalker fandom. I'm sorry.
I really love the level 3 supers in Street Fighter 6. All of them look amazing but none of them feel like they go on for too long.
I can't believe they actually put a proper Deadly Rave into a modern fighting game.
I think i like Marisa's Lv3 more than the CA. That shot of her standing over you, and her kissing her fist really does it.
