So beautiful, that aironautics museum. I happen to live in the centre of marketgarden country, hell's highway, a bridge too far. It's very nice to see that Georgia museum, which is focused both on America, where many of the boys came from, as well as on the world war 2 equipment. Whereas museums in the Netherlands locally usually focus on the German occupation, the war and liberation itself. Also liked that wedding dress made out of parachute material, and can confirm people did actually craft those as well as curtains and many other things from the parachutes, as there was hardly any material available during the war.
A neighbour of us, a airoplane mechanic, is part of a voluntary group that regularly assists in searching and recovering planes that were shot down and still are found in local rivers and swamps.
This all just to say that we, as a foreign immediate post-war generation, still remember and are actually confronted with the history of Marketgarden.
Thanks and appreciation to all the Americans and Canadians (and Poles) that helped in freeing Belgium and the Netherlands before being halted at Arnhem bridge.
And thanks to you Jacob for all the other details you showed us while travelling through Georgia.

In 2003 the Junior League of Albany had a fundraising campaign to build the Turtle Grove Play Park at River Front Park. They sold the turtle statues to businesses that then had them painted and put on display around town.

I remember your video on Habitat for Humanity and this serves to show how valuable your presentations are....similar to Dan Bell’s Dead Mall Series, you are documenting many sites that will probably disappear down the road, sort of speak. These videos become archive treasures over time and so your adventures are more important than those who spend their days wallowing around at Disneyland....

The tiger emblem is for the flying tigers, an American volunteer air corps group that fought the Japanese in China in the early 1940's until it was incorporated into the US air corps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

American Pickers would probably be a bluegrass band tribute. I lived in a small country town in Michigan that had a music store called Pick It, U S A, n musicians would hang out in there and "pick" bluegrass music all the time amidst selling the instruments that you use s "pick" to play, guitars, mandolin, dobroe, fiddle, banjo, steel guitar, zither, lap organs. Hence the moniker picking.

Wyatt Earp's friend Doc Holliday was born in a small town just north of Griffin Ga. The sign Doc's Dentistry is very close to where Doc Holliday had his dental office. He spent his younger years between the Griffin area and Valdosta Ga. Once he graduated from dental school he moved back to Griffin to practice.

Didn't have a chance to comment yesterday but amazingly I've also traveled to many of the places in this video. The reason for the Cowboy Dentist in the window in Griffin, GA is because that's the home town of Doc Holliday. The POW Museum is a must visit for you one day when it reopens. If you've never been to the outside portion of the location, the actual location of Andersonville Stockade and the National Cemetary, it's a chilling place to visit and learn how many men died from disease and exposure living basically outdoors in a huge field. The Andersonville Village "Drummer Boy" museum is also interesting but as you've seen it has a definite pro-CSA slant in some places. Americus also has a haunted hotel, The Winston, which I've stayed at while I was there. And I could have had a great time identifying the planes, unit patches and art, and nose art in the Aviation museum. At the airport in Albany there's also a small display about how British pilots came to the US to Albany to use that field as a training location before going back to England to battle the German blitz.

I know cows have sorta been ridden throughout human history. I do remember a semi recent story about someone riding a cow and jumping them like a show horse as it was rescued and raised at a stable that specialized in teaching show jumping. It doesn’t jump as high as the show horses as its not built for that, but it loves to do it as it thinks its a horse sort of.
