Love the kitty in the Ryft!
If you think the fan on the Copperhead is bad, wait until the Micro X and the outrunner sing you the song of their people.

Haven't got a Ryft, don't really want a Ryft, really enjoying this series though, and your other content.
Lots of well thought out detail, considerations and ruminations with occasional hilarious tangents.
You're like the Dan Carlin of rc.

I just finished a ryft kit and really appreciate all your info on the vehicle.

I came to see Ryft content. I am not disappointed. I'm watching more content because you are funny, as in comedic. You sound like Loui C.K the comedian and somehow speak similarly too. He's one of my favorite comedians and I'm an RC addict. This channel just seems like an obvious choice. Lol. Please keep it up.

Awesome video.....I'm running a castle 1415 2400kv with the mamba x on a 13 tooth pinion. Love it , it crawls and is faster than any other crawler I have. All diffs are locked and you will lose a little steering. Mamba x fan only comes on when it reaches the temperature you set it at . Great job. 👍

The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward just locking the front. It's still "stable enough" at speed, and I feel like the vertical performance would improve quite a bit.

PowerHD TR4 is a decent micro servo and is 7.4v capable.

Ohh the Copperhead fan does seem pretty obnoxious. I suppose it probably is necessary for the Ryft. I left the fan in the box of my Copperhead but it just lives in my TRX4 now with a Holmes Puller Pro. Not really moving fast for long enough to worry about temperatures. Your driver and co-driver are just delightful, I'm really glad you got the lexan tweaked a little for them to fit

I have the same system Copperhead 10 1412 3200kv in my Wendigo which is highly modified to be worth a damn and it does have good drag brake and overall it's been great for me. I have been vary rough on it and it's still going there are some run videos up on my channel if you want to have a look. Love the content as always and good luck with your future endeavors.

Savox makes several mini servos that are direct replacements for Traxxas 1/16 cars. I’m assuming your shift servo is the same as what’s found in the LaTrax cars. I’ll vouch for the mini Savox, not that it takes much to best a Traxxas servo but they do tolerate the abuse delivered by my 8yr old son.

Great video content as always You are my go to while wrenching on my own rigs. Wondering if you could help me out? What type of screws are the best at not rounding out and becoming a huge point of frustration while I’m sitting at my bench!!!! Having to dig and grind weak screws out is so tiring. I’m so sick of screws just giving up and turning a quick easy project into a long mess. If there is a brand or material that you’ve found works the best I would appreciate it Thanks

Just chiming in that the right wrenches and technique go a long way.

As mentioned, good wrenches go a long way. But on the other hand, the fasteners included with many RTRs really aren't great. As I go through so, so, SO many nuts and bolts, I generally stick to Grade 10.9 and 12.9 black oxide steel from McMaster Carr. Most M2.0/.2.5/3.0 button heads are $8-10 per pack of 100, which I realize is sorta nuts if someone only owns 1-2 rigs-- but If you should decide build up something from parts/scratch, you will go through far more screws than one would imagine.
Another more economical option is to head over to Jenny's RC and buy one of the whole take-off bags of screws from a TRX-4. Aside from their affinity for M3x20, Traxxas uses pretty much all the same size/length screws as everyone else, and they're of decent quality. Not as good as what you'll get from McMaster, but Jenny's will get you every screw from a TRX-4 for like 7 bucks.

Everytime I build a kit, I just bite the bullet and get a Team KNK stainless steel screw kit for it. Makes life much easier when I have to work on the rig.

Thank you so much !!! And yes I use MIP wrenches and go slow I know at least that much but thanks again. I will take that advice

I just built this and havent even run it yet . I cant wait to run it. would you use the silicone ear plugs in the Diffs?

    • @CrawlerCanyon

I went to spools all the way around. If you're going to go near rocks, just go spools. It's better on flat ground too, IMO. The gears (and diffs) in the Ryft are too small to be properly functional. I was running the included-in-kit locker insert in the center, and these in the axles: amzn.to/41vuzAi
