Love the drone footage Dan , really gives you a different perspective of the river! Nice to see you at it again, and nice hookups and solid trout landed ! Yea , the river really can get crowded real quick, so I tend to get out as soon as daylight! Saw a bunch of caddis coming off on Sunday with occasional risers , but stuck with nymphing and was rewarded with solid action! Good luck with the upcoming season and get some big ones 👍
Yo Dan! Nice to see you back on the water and doing some filming. Some big hefty rainbows, must be eating good. Nice looking fly selection you got there. Wish you the best, hopefully meet up this year sometime. Tight Lines brother! 👍🏻
So glad you finally got out and connected with a bunch of nice thick bows and a wild brownie too! I need to pick up some of those River Soldiers and some others. Looking forward to seeing more and more of your awesome videoes coming up. Love the addition of the drone footage. Adds alot of professionalism and artistic qualities to your vids! Take care , talk later and as always, tightlines!
@@DownstreamDownrange how can anybody not like your vids. They are not only very informative with the types of flies you’re using and which ones are working your video quality is superior! How about the zoom in on your furry friend gnawing in a branch? That was truly cool footage! Always a nice variety of things in your vids.
@@DownstreamDownrange You we’re very smart in doing that. I stumbled upon a big beaver lodge on a remote section on the Battenkill. Was fishing just upstream of it. When this huge monster beaver with huge orange nasty looking teeth came out of the large and swam right at me. I backed out of the water and grabbed a stout branch as a club. It waddled up on the shore and was coming after me baring it’s teeth and growling. Haha. I had to move upstream quite far for it to calm down. Lol. Nice looking deep run I had to vacate. I was pissed but scared.
Great footage. I hope to get up there within two weeks. I'm slowly getting to know this river better, but I did mostly dries last year. the 18" brown I got on a sulphur spinner blew me away on how hard he pulled. Survivor strain? (TM). No big rainbows yet though. Hey if I buy those stonefly nymphs and they fail to catch 23" fish on *every single cast*, can I return them if they're not chewed up too bad? I am amazed you didn't still freeze your ass off. That river is COLD. That insanely deep pool 2/3 the way through was creepy as hell. I finally got my folstaff to not explode. (duct tape) . Did you ever read the story about the Barkhamstead LightHouse?
Hahaha stonefly nymphs are full money back policy! 25 inch trout minimum! 😅😅😅. Water down river was almost 60! I’ll have to get into some larger isolated fish on fry this year ! Never heard of the light house
@@DownstreamDownrange Oh so you fished the lower river? I've only fished down there around Unionville . Tons of easy 12" stock rainbows but a few really nice brookies which I think they do stock also (?) Here you gotta read this . Hope YT allows this link:
Hey, I’m just getting into fly fishing and I live in the high peaks ADK region. I watched your videos on fishing the west branch ausable and that’s where I plan to head when I get setup. Was wondering if you shed some insight on what fly would be the most successful there in the spring/summer time? Thanks!
@@J00176 yah the WBT stonefly is pretty much the king at this point. It hammers fish in the Ausable, battenkill, catskill rivers, everywhere!!! My top recommendation for wb Ausable would be the WBT stone, orange crush in a size 16, caddis jig in the caddis green color, and the DHSH. Those would be my top!
Hello! I really would like to have this pair a bit longer term to give you some truly good feedback! But…. I had their lower end entry waders a few years back and they held up great for the price. These fee outstanding so far. My thoughts are that simms and orvis have lost a bit of quality. Simms freestones did extremely poor for me. Didn’t last at all. I highly recommend redington!
Y’all can find basic bugs and river soldiers here! Got the rust off, hunt for big trout week continues!
