He better not be letting slowik make him keep Pierce because he "still has hope".. that'd be some old Texans shit..hopefully he means hes seen enough of pierce meaning hes seen enough to get rid of him
Dude, we just drafted him lol. Y'all acting like he on Year 5. He can be 3rd string. Brooks takes Beck's spot and Jordan goes to practice squad while he gains weight.
I like the idea of keeping Akers as RB 2. Brooks at 2. I definitely don’t see Mixon playing every game, Akers still has something to prove. Having 2 young guys behind them is nice!
Seth you read D wrong, He meant that he has peaked and he has seen enough without trying to explained the details before he's traded. Read in between lines Seth
I think Dameon is a major blind spot to this staff. Demeco last season said 2 things, the guys will earn their spots, and he said in regards to the running game, the backs needed to do a better job of making the first defender miss. Now Dameon has a horrible preseason, following a bad ‘23 season where he was benched for Singletary and lost his starting job, he has lost the back up job to Cam Akers. He has flashed in practice, but game day production is where it matters most. Now when Dameon has failed to break tackles and make the first guy miss, the explanations change to having to block it better. The blocking was poor last year, it has been poor all preseason, and honestly even with cohesion and a consistent starting 5, I don’t think we should expect anything more than a marginal improvement over last season. This line generates little push upfront, these guys look to me like they don’t enjoy the physicality aspect of blocking. I don’t know if it is just an old school mentality, a mental switch, but none of these guys play with a mean streak. Lineman should salivate when pulling at the potential to pancake coming around the end, they should take immense pleasure in putting a defender on his back, they should feel insulted when they don’t drive their man off the line for a good yard. Seth do you notice this as well, or is it just me?
Without a doupt Pierce is not even second string material. He must have naked picture of Ryans to still be held out as if he's the go to guy. Akers should be the starter with that (something outta nothing) skill set. Case should be the second string due to his experience, Boyle as 3rd because this kid is surgical in ball placement. As to Mills. This dude is as robotic as a tonka toy and mobile as a cactus and at best a pedestrian QB.
I agree with what you’re saying about how the Texans should keep Case Keenum with what he brings to the team. Case has the experience & has helped C.J. last year transition into the NFL & he does so much to help C.J. In game. He has also helped teams win in big important games. It’s just weird how they put Davis Mills as QB2 based on 1 quarter in two preseason games & practices & say that it’s a competition. If it was Bills Case would be QB2 but that is neither here nor there. I figured base on how they started Case in 2022 that they would catapult Case in front of Mills but I guess that would make too much sense. I like Mills but at 5-19-1 and Case at 30-36 I would roll with Case as a certified QB2 but here we go with the Texans backup roller coaster ride. At this point if the Texans keep three QB’s & Case is on the team then that continued chemistry with C.J. & the offensive system should reap big rewards for success within the Texans.
Totally disagree Case is not the answer at 2 or 3 at quarterback. He is at best an emergency quarterback at this stage of his career.Has no arm strength left and struggles at anything over twenty yards.
Case Keenum is real deal and nothing has been handed to him. The naysayers been saying Case don’t have arm strength since he came in the league & he has been doing it at a high level without a cannon for an arm. It’s about coming into a game and being able to work an offense at a high level and give the team a shot at winning the game. That is what he has did throughout his entire NFL career. 2017 Vikings helped lead the team to a championship game so do your research. Before Case signed with the Texans he was two years QB2 with Browns and after that the Bills went after him to sign as QB2. It’s not his fault the Texans do weird things with QB2 but Case is a team player and was ok with doing his part helping to mentor C.J. in his rookie year and if needed he could start. In 2023 with the game on the line with playoff implications they started Case. For not starting a game in two years and helping the team come back from behind that is impressive. You would think that would get him the QB2 spot but Davis Mills at 5-19-1 who supposedly looked so good in 1 quarter of two games and in practice gets handed QB2. I like Mills but I just think the Texans plays with that QB roster spot. So are they going to guarantee Mills plays if C.J. where to come out? They should because he is the QB2 but that is not guaranteed and I don’t think that is fair to someone who is listed as QB2. I think no matter the QB order they work together and whoever is on the field let’s support that QB and work to get the win.
@@semperfi-nk2kt We know Case's resume. He's been in the league for over a decade at this point. The problem is he's 36 years old and clearly struggled even when he was starting. I would not be shocked if he retired at the end of this season. His value comes more from his mental grasp of the game and how he can teach CJ and Mills as a veteran mentor. I'd think the reason they wanted Mills to be QB2 was because of his youth and his superior physical traits, which make him a better backup for the long term.
I believe they intend to try to trade Pierce. That's why he didn't play in the last pre-season game. As much as I like Dameon it's clear that he doesn't fit the offensive scheme. I wish him luck.
Seth, I figured by now you would have "DeMeco speak" down well enough to read between the lines of his answers to everyone's questions....😉 For example...... "I've seen enough of Dameon in practice and everything.....so I've had a good look at Dameon"........DeMeco speak for "Dameon hasn't met my expectations as RB2 so we've decided to get a closer look at our other options"........I think he found it today in Akers.and Brooks and of course Mixon as the starter....He expressed that confidence level in his somewhat more extended RB remarks a little bit later in the presser. Dameon looked like a whipped puppy on the sidelines...I believe he realizes he missed his multiple chances for a spot on our roster....I expect he is going to be trade bait for possibly another sevicable safety option or a possible veteran swing tackle or even maybe a mid round draft pick next year? He is a good option for somebody's roster....Just not for the Texans. Case "DeMeco speak"?......."We have a lot of discussions to make"......Like maybe getting Case to retire gracefully and discuss how much it will cost to bring Case onto the coaching staff "As the week goes on".....Case would work well as a mentor with Slowik , CJ and Mills to bring along Boyle as a reliable #3 QB.....He actually earned that right today with his play.....and if that happens, we still get to keep Case's valuable experience on the team. Receivers?.....I think we keep Diggs, Nico, Mighty Mouse, Metchie, Hutch and Simms.......I feel Diggs will be the only OG we keep in the room and if he works out like expected we could always try to extend him later in the season for another year.or so as Metchie and Hutch develop......Woods might also be good to keep on the practice squad as insurance?? The next 3 days are going to be very hard on some very good people....DeMeco included......But when it is all said and done....the TEXANS are going to be a very dangerous team to recon with in 2024!!!! KEEPING THE FAITH!!! GO TEXANS!!!! 🤠
I like the Mighty Mouse referral. If you remember, the old run and shoot offense was started by tiger Ellison and made famous by coach Darrell “mouse” Davis. He was called “mouse” for constantly getting tiny speedy receivers for his run & shoot offense. Coach Jack Pardee ran the run & shoot for the Oilers from around 1990-1995.
@@mr.objective6936 If you remember.....Pardee ran that "Run-and-Shoot" offense with the Gamblers here in Houston with Jim Kelly and another "Mighty Mouse" Doug Flutie.....back before he used it with the Oilers too. That offense was dynamic!!!!

All I know is Akers and Brooks better be on this roster 😤🤘🏾
100% right.
Pierce has lost it. He needs another team. Akers should be on this team. He earned it.
Man what a impressive come back for Akers and what a pick up by Nick
I think we've all seen enough ...
Perfectly said......after all these games he has not produced. I say let a new rookie have his position,,,

💯 agree 💯
I’m not worried plain and simple.
Brooks & Ankers will be on the roster behind Mixon. Now Jawhar Jordan may be on special teams. As a returner. I cant see them keeping Pierce or Woods.
They're keeping pierce, trust Demeco. Don't worry about it so much.

Pierce is mid at best. Akers has the dog in him
Akers looking like he needs to be playing on Sundays this year.
I absolutely think a trade is in the works for D.P.
Yeah, this seemed obvious with the exclusion. He’s either locked into RB2 or a trade’s in the works. Maybe a 5th or 6th round pick 🤷♂️
Trust the coach, he knows all the inside stuff, and he doesn't give up on guys, and who knows he may have his best year ever.
Ivy League homie dropping the "Euclidean geometry" reference... gotta love it!!
Pierce will be traded, they already have an offer in place. They didn’t want him getting injured because of this.
