I think the ending where Isaac is 'Missing' is actually Isaac's imagination after he has locked himself in the chest; he is imagining that after escaping from the real world, his mom would miss him like she did his sister, and thus go out and look for him. I think this is plausible, as in the ending mom is not holding her knife and as a result I believe she does not wish to harm Isaac. Also, she is out on a hill, so I believe she is looking for him. Just an idea, I'd like to hear what any Isaac veterans think :)
Are you sure? i think the last ending is one of the few "real ones". I think his mother became psicologically unstable after she divorced, and she often had anger outburtst, however she loves him because she's his mother. Now that Isaac is hidden inside of his toy chest, she realizes she's desperate without him and she is seen searching for him.

What If I Told You Something......That Blue Baby Is Actually Him Imagining What He Will Look Like After Suffocating...............
In one of the loading cutscenes is shows Isaac suffocating in the chest
It is up for debate.
However the way I see it is that the whole game is simply Isaac's imagination.
The vignettes (Small cut scenes) between floors show he was bullied.
The 14th ending also show how his parents might have split (Hence making Mom violent.) This might be indicated by how she takes his toys and clothes and ect.
Bullying and Mom aside, these reasons caused him to think he was evil and corrupted so he read the bible as reassurance. The characters are all biblical, so Isaac simply dreamed of how he's show his mother and the bullies how great he was. The 'game' was meant so make him a hero, like most games kids imagine up.
However Isaac looked at himself in the mirror and knew, no kind of good person would dream of such things.
He suffocated himself inside his chest (Guppy most likely died in the chest like this, giving him the idea)
People say your life flashes before your eyes as you die (Ending 14) and Isaac did. This is why blue baby is a secret. Isaac died in the chest and blue baby is him. The dead body of isaac, blue from the lack of air and sunken and swollen because of being dead for seemingly a while. Hence why Mother is looking for him.

Still,if Blue Baby(Isaac)was the one in the chest then the ending(ending 16)could be Azazel as well its like a life cycle 1 with Azazel and another with Blue Baby making the story incomplete.
Yea. I kinda never put much thought into Azazel being part of the story. After all you do see him (supposedly) in one of the photos in ending 14 ^~^

The story is rather sparse on azazel.
And although I'd love that, I very much doubt it. From what has been released thus far, I think Any add-ons or games won't really be there to explain. Many film/game devs like the idea of leaving the plot up for debate ^-^

My personal theory is that all the game is based on stuff that never really happened. His mother had become violent (Personally I think she divorced, and she begun drinking and taking drugs :see Mom's coin purse ), and she has violent fits against his son. Then Isaac reads the bible and thinks he's corrupted, and gets in the box, because he thinks is better for him to die. In the box, maybe because of the lack of air, he falls asleep and he dreams about a world where he can be the hero -This would explain all the items and enemies related to religion, and there are many references to bullying, sadness, anger, too, all of them reflections of what happened in his life - When he dies, he can always restart (something like Inception xD ). This dreaming world is proven by the fact that between floors Isaac is seen sleeping, dreaming about bad things that happened in his life.
I think the first endings don't really matter that much with the storyline; ending 10 shows when the REAL Isaac meets the imaginary one, as the real one is dead, but his will is still concious ,then the imaginary one recognises his real body and is shocked by discovering that he's dead.
Isaac, after realising that he's dead, decides to put an end to all this, killing what remains of his life: his mind, trapped in an endless dream; he gets in the box metaphorically, with all his alter-egos following him, and he's finally free. In the final ending, after the photos showing how Isaac's family was slowly destroyed, we can see how Isaac's mother is desperate (I think) and she's searching for Isaac, but he's in the chest with his already dead cat Guppy. just about to die.
About the Torn Photo item, I think it demonstrates how she divorced with his husband, who probably took Maggy with him; Isaac's mom became violent and Isaac was left alone.

I thought Ending 15 and 16 were separate? I dunno, I didn't complete the game, and I guessed that you can choose from either 15 or 16.

Ending 15 has nothing to do with ending 16. Though I haven't finished the game completely, but I think the endings 14 and 15 are related:
Ending 14: You get this after going through the cathedral, then to the chest, defeating blue baby, you have to take the polaroid to get it (same stuff as vanilla isaac)
Ending 15: You get this after going through Sheol, then to the dark room (which is ridicolously hard), defeating the lamb, you have to take the negative to get it.
After deafeating mom you can choose either to take the polaroid or the negative.
Ending 16 however, is obtainable after defeating Mega Satan, which i currently dont know how to unlock (getting 2 parts of a key or getting dad's key open the golden door to Mega Satan, which is located in both maps, the chest and the dark room)

Each ending has some hidden context, the glue and the needle ending have Issac take drugs, the coat hanger ending insinuates that Issac’s Mum got an abortion, and the noose ending is pretty self-explanatory. However, the next few endings are pretty unique. The ending with the corpse is likely Issac’s fear of his death personified, the ending where he becomes an angel is him actually dying, and the ending where his mum pulls him into the box most likely means that Issac actually didn’t escape, and is still stuck in an abusive relationship. The last few are my own head canon. The ending where he switches between all his seperate personas is him having a breakdown as he realises that he has DIDS, the ending where he throws up is him seeing the corpse of his cat, Guppy, in the box, and the ending with the flesh monster is him being haunted by the fact that his mum will never see him as being as good as his sister. The other endings are all just Easter eggs and open ended endings.

I feel as if the story is potentially meant to be based off of stuff that never really happens. Like, I dunno, maybe there are none of these abominations in the basement but it's instead internal conflict or Isaac coming to terms with something. Say after they divorce and the father leaves, the mother becomes more irritable, potentially takes up drinking, and has violent fits against her son. What maybe the story means can take one of two turns in my mind from there, either being that Isaac accidentally dies in the chest while trying to escape her, or somewhat more probably, he kills himself out of good nature, believing that there is something wrong with him that makes his mother so troubled. I get that there are more than likely huge ass gaps in whatever the hell I just said, but maybe someone has an idea or any evidence to make this less unlikely?

Its implied that Isaac is Blue baby, who died in the chest due to starvation, lack of oxygen, whatever killed him first. In fact, there should be a cutscene that shows Isaac being stuck in a chest hyperventilating. Still, you could also be right. Its left up for you to decide.

I personally believe a slight variation on Game Theory's explanation. Due to a great deal of both abuse and faith in his upbringing, Isaac sees himself as evil, unclean, sinful. The basement and below are his fantasy realm that serves as both his escape from and punishment for his sins, where he is able to actually fight them, and he escapes there by hiding in his toy chest. After drawing this story and ending it with God smiling upon him and leaving him victorious, his mother opens the door, knife in hand, likely to call him to dinner. He panics, and hides in his chest with Guppy to escape once more. There he retreats into his mind, once again delving into dark depths, fighting against his filth. But by ending ten he has realized that something is wrong. Now he has stayed in the box too long, now he is having trouble breathing, now death is a very real possibility if he continues to hide. Now he encounters Blue Baby and, being unable to comprehend or accept, he is frozen, and spirals deeper into his make-believe realm. He thrashes, but is directionless, and can do nothing to save himself. In the Eden ending he rises from the chest made anew, made strong, reborn. In ending 15 he has gone from his home, left without a trace, to find a life of less pain and suffering. But in the Eden ending there is a small frame of time that is in mystery. He is struggling, a boy, he ascends, reborn, but in between he is still, and something happens. Ending 16, the final puzzle piece. As death, the incomprehensible terror, begins to truly take hold, sap his strength, and prevent him from moving, the dungeon of his mind finally completes its task. As he slays angels to enter the glittering holy door he begins to accept his sin, embody it, allow it to become a part of him, rather than a grotesque enemy. Killing angels was him accepting that he had sin, coming to terms with the fact that he was indeed sinful, and once he did that he was able to progress. The final boss of the game is him defeating Mega Satan, his Satan, the great demon that he fears is in him, that his sin feeds. By defeating it he is able to accept his sin as just another part of him, rather than blame himself for it. When he is finally able to do this, he is able to conquer it. He returns from his mind, no longer paralyzed by fear or blame or guilt, and with his last bit of energy he throws open the lid of the box and emerges as Eden.

The story: Isaac is corrupted by evil, who is Azazel, the fallen angel killed his sister and made the dad guilty. Isaac Mom then thought it was better for the dad to get out and never come back.
Then God talked to Isaac Mom and she finally understood that her son was corrupted and tried to kill him like God asked so he could be free. But Isaac locked himself in the chest with his cat, he thought God would help him, and it wasn't the case.
He tried to fight against Satan so he could be free of evil but it made it even stronger since Azazel isn't a demon but a fallen angel.
Finally, Isaac died in the chest and Azazel could finally break from his chains to rule over humanity.
Also, the Lamb was actually the only hope for Isaac to be free of Azazel if he delivered himself to his mom, but it didn't happened, ending 15 show it in a symbolic way, like a failed attempt in the story of Ibrahim and his son.
If that's true, then why is Azazel fighting Satan as well? My theory is that Azazel originally possessed Isaac under his father Satan's orders because Isaac has as of yet underdeveloped magical abilities that would allow Satan to open the gates of Hell and unleash the Apocalypse on Earth if he could harness them. But, Azazel's demonic heart became moved by Isaac's innocence and he has since turned from his father to protect Isaac. Unfortunately, God has taken notice of Azazel's possession of Isaac and thinks he's still on Satan's side, which is why He orders Isaac's mother to kill him. But, killing him would damn Isaac's soul to Hell, where Satan could influence him into a child of evil and reincarnate him to serve his plans. By the time God realizes that Azazel is actually trying to protect Isaac, he is so close to death from suffocation in the chest that Azazel has to take complete control to keep him alive.
Actually, the game is actually FAKE. The "game" takes place inside Isaac mind. While I don't know anything about the dad- this is was happens-- Isaac creates this story, and after reading the bible, he decides he is too corrupted by Sin. He goes to the chest to suffocate himself, and right before, he flips past all the characters he created. (Also, since he read the bible, it makes since that Judas and Azreal and characters) He goes into the chest. We then see him in the chest, with his dead cat (probably) with him in the chest. If guppy is dead, we can see that he shared a similar fate to Isaac, which is suffocating in the chest. In the chest, he played this game once more, but as Azreal. Isaac, in real life, flickers to Azreal smiling creepily. This is because Isaac, having read the bible, thinks he is corrupt by sin, and fears Azreal -or sin itself- taking over his body. And then, we see Isaac has gone missing, with his mother desperately looking for Isaac. His mother did not want to kill him. In reality, Isaac was bullied and neglected. This is shown by dreams in the game. This game was made for him to be a hero.

This would explain everything that happens in the game. This would also explain why the blue baby was the final boss of the game : In the end, isaac suffocates and his skin turns blue. After this final inner fight, isaac dies.

Isaac had a sister called Magadline. Isaacs mom seemed to love Magdalin more than Isaac so he wishes for her to die
But then Magdalin died but he regrets everything and feels guilty since he wished for it.
Magadlins death divorced Isaacs mom and dad from each other leaving just Isaac and his mom left
Guppy who also was an important part of Isaacs life had also died... seeming as guppy was his best friend
that gotta suck
but changing Isaac to Magdalin was harder than Isaacs mom thought since she thought making Isaac into Magdalin
Would maybe get Isaacs dad back
As you can se in some other cutscenes Isaac sees himself as a demon for everything that has happened to his friends
and family... he thinks that its his fault...
When you defeat ''It lives'' you can choose to go to down meaning that Isaac accepts for being a demon and defeats
everything in his way
choosing to go up makes Isaac choose to kill his devil self and his dead self to try and stop himself
in ending 13 u can se he pictures... but i dont think the game is just showing pictures... i think Isaac is throwing
them into his chest to try and forget everything
and in ending 14 he flees with could be a sequal to ennding 13 since he wants to forget everything
But as you can se when Isaac fleed his mother sees how important Isaac was to her life and regrets everything
putting up posters to try and get her son back since she acully loves him and she also relises that he is the
last thing she has left
She didnt really try to kill him since it was just Isaacs drawings but the cutscenes are real... he kills himself
since he wants to save his mom from pain having him
Thats atleast what Isaac though... even tho Isaacs mom doesnt treat her son well doesnt mean she does not love him
its just that its too much regret in Isaacs mom making it harder to think about other things... she just want Magdaline back
since thats the way she thinks to get Isaacs dad back...

I find it sad when people say Isaac would have been saved if his mother were an atheist. Religion is not a bad thing, just people who go off the deep end with it are. All the religious symbols here actually made for a great story though.
+LiLMoonTai Well it is about how religion can effect children, especially ones like Isaac. His life would still be pretty sucky if his mother wasn't a zealot, but his religious guilt plays a strong part in his death/rebirth/escape.

You know, Mom's voice was a lot more evil sounding in the original, but in this game's Mom voice sounds a little more angry, and slightly younger and less demonic.

somebody's gotta explain theses endings to me because i don't understand any of them apart from the first

derp pug isaac is stuck in his perception of his mom hating him and wanting to kill him...
in almost all the endings he finds a way to end his life or to change it in such a way he dowsnt remember the old one (the syringe )
in the ending qith the photographs he remembers his dad leaving him
in the ending where he cycles through his characters he gets "stuck in his dreamworld"
in the final ending he sees he has become the demon and finally smiles, probably overcoming his fear of his mom
(i am not sure if the endings are correct but its just my oerception of the story when i played through the game.. i have not seen any theories about it or anything)
