  • I haven’t used corby rivets ever before in knife making. I don’t have any what to do lists but if that existed I could now strike corby out of that list! Sure I will use them most propably in the future more. 😃

Nicely done Osmo! Corbys are great for that style of knife.

Steady hands! I use Corby bolts for these and kitchen knives, I did make some Loveless bolts for a filleting knife though, turned the nuts round using a drill and a file…

Nice work and interesting to see those blades as well - was not aware of these. My approach differs in a few ways: I first glue the liners to the wood with epoxy before doing anything else. Then take one scale and drill the holes through the blade as template (drillpress if available, side with liner resting on the table). Put the thicker part of the corby rivet (or lanyard tube) through the blade into the hole before drilling the next. When done remove rivets and put them in from the (correct) outside of the scale and through the blade except for one. Drill through outside and blade into the other scale (inside to blade). This will give you a perfect fit and no visible gap between wood and rivet, even if the scale material is not 100% parallel or you do not drill at exactly 90 degrees. The countersink bit has the correct depth stop if you just lay the scale on a hard surface. 🙋🏻‍♀️Anna

A little sloppy as far as I'm concerned.
