- JP Morgan's new 270 Park Avenue Tower in New York is a marvel of engineering. It's a mega project undertaken by a bank like no other. What makes this mega project so special and what is the insane engineering behind this mega skyscraper

Is this the coolest base structure of any skyscraper in New York?
Will there be an observatory?
Coolest base structure? No, not really.
probably
I thought this building was supposed to be 70 stories + mechanical floors. If they wanted to make this building a good looking building, they should have made it at least 6 to 12 stories taller at the top section (a more natural aesthetic roof height/ pinnacle height). Anyway, I hope this company goes bankrupt. The last thing they need to be doing is to be building a new headquarters. It's the worst bank in human history.

Glad to see Art Deco being revitalized
I am more exited about the fact Art Deco is back. New York new buildings from 1950s to the 2000s had no soul. But in the 2010s and 2020s we are finally getting nice building again.
THIS is why Manhattan will always reign supreme. I spent a lot of time in the former 270 Park. It needed a makeover. WOW.
Manhattan is finished. 60% vacant, rats, and crime. No thanks.
This building, when complete, will be beautiful. Such a beautiful design, great engineering and energy efficiency.
I have been charged so much by JP MORGAN CHASE, I feel like they should let me have an office.
….so have I, but I COMPLAINED, and charges were reversed. 🤷🏼♂️
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’d rather my modern building’s base be a bit wider than the building itself lol
Gorgeous building.. Really adds the proper bulk to the skyline and uses the correct style
How much vacant unused , office space is there in NY? The rest of the country is loaded with it.
It has the beauty of a container.
Your perception of beauty in buildings is not very advanced. This is not a criticism of you. It is just a comment about you posting to the world that you do not have an architectural appreciation clue. But then, it appears that you may be from Orlando. If so, I suppose that would explain a lot.
Looks to me like that base concentrates the load, rather than distribute the weight evenly.
It does kinda look like that.
Really? You think this building was designed and built without confirming the loads were distributed properly
@@mannyfestoINS I said it looks that way. I did not say I did the calculations and it was built wrong.
No one is a fan of JP but they have the money to build this astonishing new NYC landmark. I really like it. Happy to be back in 2025 and visit the site.
Why would you use metric numbers to describe a building in NYC ?
Maybe, because he analyzed, where most viewers come from
Imagine a video where you say imagine or picture this a thousand times!
Gosh. That is unimaginable. It is hard to picture that.
I love this building but I wish the Union Carbide building was preserved. This should have been built in a different location
this
Where would you have had it built?
look at all the beautiful buildings NYC has destroyed for bigger, better, more modern in the last 150 years or so. For me it's sad but the dollar makes all the decisions.
They probably said the same things about the World Trade Center buildings. Watch out.
Don't let Benjamin netanyahu's best friend Larry Silverstein get the lease on that building.....
Only 60 stories? Does it have 20 foot ceilings on each floor?
There’s 70 floors
No but some floors are way bigger than others with much higher ceilings. You can see it in the floors that don’t have glass yet
What a great Building, great Design, hand clap to all men and woman who made this project happen
Absolutely a beautiful building. My disappointment is that the renderings continually showed it in a golden tone, which I don't see in the actual/finished product. Very disappointing.
I think thats called sunlight
One solution would be to paint the damn thing purple.
As if Gotham needs another empty corporate building
Engineering projects like this is a marvel to me. Wishing ALL well on this endeavor 🎉
Finally! Exactly what NYC needs right at this very moment to solve its building crisis. Just build another goddamn skyscraper...all electric, too! What could possibly go wrong?
Very interesting 😊
Exoskeleton, familiar design. Incredibly strong.
I remember 2 buildings that had the same design.
Building this thing with a 40% glut of empty office space, post COVID, in NY is mind-boggling. Companies will flock to this as it is the newest and best, but this thing won't fill to their expectations.
Probably true. But at least JP Morgan Chase will have a more obvious reason to make it very, very expensive to do business with them.
60 for over 400 meters 😮
Those are some really tall stories for sure
Looks beautiful but I doubt the eco-friendly part.
It's more Leftist/ Globalist Propaganda Brainwashing hype. You can't build anything now or get a loan or investment with the ESG Scam if you don't Propaganda hype the project as being "Sustainable Deevlopment"/ "Environmentally Responsible". Rarely does any project (even if it's LEED Certified) actually meet these standards or goals.
Lovelly, but waiting for 860m building in NY some day.
Impressive! :)
I am a new subscriber and enjoy your channel. I also like the Union Jack, with Bulldog, above your right shoulder. Keep up the good work.
Being taller than 400 meters, i expected it having way more stories than 60.
And im assuming the design is safe from people that want to do harm on a massive scale.. just looks like it has several massive weak points. Anyone else thinking it too?
Well, yeah. I would think a whole lot of people are thinking about that.
"Imagine: [vague description of any highrise in the world in the past 40 years]"
Voice of A I ?
It’s 270 Park Avenue…
And???
It would be nice if you told us how many stories it was instead of metres no one understands metres
Educated people from England do. I don't.
That’s why I was charged a fee to move my money from my savings 😂😂😂
Looks like the Citigroup HQ at the base.
Will there be sleeping accommodations for bums? What about toilets?
I’m sure a piece of aluminum can knock it down.😂😂😂😂😂
Much easier understood if you gave the dimensions in feet instead id meters. The US is not on the metric system if you did not realize that.
No skyscraper or gigantic building is eco-friendly or sustainable. Period.
Will there be an observatory?
What do you really think? It is possible they have thought of that.
I thought they had a vacancy issue in Manhattan for office space. Correct me if Im wrong.
Love you. Why are cars still built as if the motor is still in the front except with a flat plate instead of the radiator? Maybe Canoe had a better shape.
It's a beautiful design. But.... ther isn't anything "sustainable" about it
.. buttt.. GREEN!
Whatever you say bro
Every major project today is branded as “sustainable”. People are dumb so branding is all they usually have to do. Then the idiots will argue with you about how wonderfully sustainable it is. The other idiots will argue that sustainable housing is just evidence of the woke mind virus and we should pollute to hearts content since it’s what god wants.
We need to invest in education and make it harder to spread stupidity.
@@Commander-leo Nah brah! naaaahhh!!!

Eco concious? Is the building air conditioned? If yes then it cannot be an eco concious building
It does not have air conditioning. But, the windows open about 4 inches. Plus, every other office space has floor fans installed. That's how they make it "Eco concious. I think.

No AC in humid AF New York? I don’t believe it. AC is a given to any new building east of the Mississippi. Once we of earth learn to safely harness our stars power cheaply, clean energy will be ubiquitous.
It’s in the Congestion Pricing Zone.
Will it stand up to jet fuel errrr thermite errrr controlled demolition disguised as planes crashing into buildings ?
I like to see beautiful architecture - and this one IS beautiful - but why are buildings this tall still needed in a city where many employees prefer to work remotely and many others are fleeing the high cost of living and general lawlessness (thanks to Alvin Bragg and L. James) at all levels? I am one of those who got out, and regret I didn’t do it sooner!
At the rate that NYC is imploding my best guess is it will be a near empty building even after a year of being completed.. One only has to look at how fast hedge funds are leaving.. how many retail shops and restaurants are closing and leaving.. And most importantly what commercial realestate of this type are sitting vacant. 3 billion to build an ediface to hubris
"a marvel of sustainable desgin" , what a load of crap....
Well, " a marvel of sustainable design" is load of crap only because no one really understands what the hell that means. Maybe it's brilliant. But no one knows for sure.

Right! As long as fossil fuels (coal) keep producing electricity, everything will be OK.
@@roberthenry9319 Reinforced Concrete has a lifespan of 50-100 years. Just this enough to know its not sustainable

The UC building it replaced was a classic. No question people were bribed to allow for this travesty.
The new building itself is gorgeous.. just wish it did not have to be built in place of a classic of mid-century modern example.
There are a slew of buildings in NYC that resemble that Union carbide building.
@@_Breakdown That’s not a good reason to knock or down. There’s a slew of buildings that resemble any number of beautiful pre-wars on Riverside Drive or Park Avenue. I still would not want them gone.
@@MisterSplendy it’s not the Chrysler building or the Statue of Liberty dude. It’s a square box. There’s plenty of them that look virtually identical. Building technology improves. The video shows how the union carbide building had to knock down its predecessor, and that one the predecessor before it. Should we just have left it as a 16th century hut or teepee? Maybe put back all the out houses that preceded your pre-war buildings
@@_Breakdown uh huh.
@@MisterSplendy Good idea. Keep all those boxy (many outside of New York would say butt ugly) buildings forever.
How could you do an entire video without mentioning the lighted top sections? What do they house? Dampeners? HVAC? Water? Anything but lighting? What is the lighting--does it change? Is it a venue for lighting designers since it has major skyline visibility? Is the building mixed use residential as well as offices?
What’s with meters?
The building is 70 stories
Fast forward 20 years when they will suddenly discover that occupying expensive downtown offices is no longer economically "sustainable" because everybody is working from home or from satellite offices.
Stop with the damn meters. We use feet and miles. Americans rejected that nonsense decades ago. At least give us both
move in date for employees was communicated to us as august 2025

Respectfully... this design leaves me with a lack of imagination.
The Union Carbide was more elegant. No one has good taste anymore.
Trivia: how many people died in the world's biggest man made disaster? (hint: its not Chernobyl)
Ans: 20,000 dead, half a million injured. Its called Bhopal (in central India) Gas tragedy in 1984. Responsible company - Union Carbide Corporation, USA. The charges against the Chairman were dismissed despite proven negligence. If you are old enough and didnt know this, it is because America is a greatest nation
Correct indeed 😡. Exxon Valdez in Alaska - not so many deaths but a huge environmental disaster still hurting the area and little accountability 😡
you failed to note that this put Union Carbide out of business.. Bankrupted both financially and moraly
@@stevepailet8258 America is morally corrupt. I dont need to mention that separately. The company still exists btw
@@saturo_nipon dont know of any place that is morally not corrupt
@@saturo_nipon Like most bankrupt companies it was just sold off to another company. The chemical plants did not go away ownership just changed hands.. In this case it was absorbed as a full entity owned by Dow Chemical
Finally. The migrants have a place to live.
60 stories, are you sure about that? 423 metres or approx 1,300 feet is much taller than 60 floors
The lower level is 80 feet and then the crown they were talking about.
The John Hancock building in Chicago was innovative in using this structural configuration. This is just a copy. Do a bit of research please.
Actually, this differs somewhat bc John Hancock has X-shaped braces on the exterior (which is much stronger)
It’s a pretty building, and it’s not going to save NYC.
Is it supposed to?
@@roberthenry9319 If it’s not going to affect incoming property taxes to the city, jobs, increase tourism, improve skyline, etc. then why bother building it? You don’t know a lot about downtown high rise real estate ventures do you?
No matter how many new technologies or "green" methods you use, demolishing a huge building still in good shape, just to replace it by a bigger one is far from being sustainable.
I don't see much beauty, it looks like every other modern skyscraper around the world INMHO.
How many migrants can it hold?

Iam from Brooklyn. I don't like tall buildings at all. Even if I could afford it, which I can't. I would never live in a tall building
Ever thought of moving away from Brooklyn to some place more sane?

Not in the competition of making tall skyscrapers.
I hope it becoming new landmark in New York

I’m not impressed. It needs a starship launch pad and landing tower on top. Or at least a heliport or it isn’t a vision of the future.

for some history: Union Carbide also caused issues in India that lead to the BHOPAL chemical accident where they neglected maintenance.. over 500,000 people exposed to toxic MIC gases and Union Carbide evaded accountability for well over 30 years
