EPIC Steelhead & TROUT Fishing The DEEPEST CANYON In North AMERICA!

- Today we're excited to bring you part 2 of our Idaho Steelhead Fishing Trip! In this episode we venture into Idaho's Hells Canyon with Hells Canyon Adventures. To say the trout and steelhead fishing was epic would be an understatement! You literally couldn't make a cast without catching a fish! The trout were biting, the steelhead were biting! Hells Canyon is a 10 mile wide canyon located in parts of WA, OR, and Idaho. Hells Canyon is North America's deepest river gorge at 7,993 feet which is even deeper than the better known Grand Canyon. Its amazing these steelhead travel all the way back to this canyon and we were blessed enough to encounter them. We're mostly float fishing with jigs and bait, but we do also land a couple steelhead back trolling bait. This is part 2 of this 3 part series, be sure to check out the other episodes below.

I got a couble question you might have the answers to how does Idaho have steelhead if it's not a coastal state? I'm guessing stocking. And how is there steelhead hatcheries if a steelhead is a sea run rain bow trout. I've even googled it and didn't get clear answers. Thanks
@@lukebonagurio4503 I am no expert by any means but have been fishing in Idaho for a 5th trip in a month. They do make it to the ocean. There is like a 600 mile run to where we fish. But there is hatcheries there. They dump them in and those come back after time. I think it's the Columbia that makes it connect? Like I said no expert but they do go and return from ocean. We are on the Clearwater if that gives you a look at a map and follow potential waterway connections
@@inebre8967 how do the hatch a steel head and not a rainbow trout confuses the hell out of me.
@@lukebonagurio4503 they are a rainbow. We catch some of them too. Think once they get to size they are considered steelhead at that point. We can't keep rainbow under the fishing regulations. But once they are at least like 21"? They are steelhead. And may have something to do with they went to the salt? Be nice if someone who knew for sure chimed in here cause I don't know positively the answers

I used to care keep sheep creek after I got out of the navy for 3 years! I love that canyon and it will always be in my hart! I’ve dove on sunken boats and was a deckhand on fishing boats, love the show👊🇺🇸

Finished welding cracks, hand sanding, buffing to a mirror finish on the Red Dot#5 (Duckworth)boat made that frequently goes up and down this beast! Also added bunks to make it easy for loading in that current. Was a true pleasure to see that kind of work on a boat. She's a red one if you happen to see it.😉

Looking forward to watching you all land some gigantic sturgeon next week! Landed a 9 footer in Hells Canyon years ago... they are plentiful in that canyon!
Steelhead are genetically the same as rainbow trout. The offspring of both can be either anadromous (steelhead) or resident (rainbow) trout. It explains why removal of Elwha dams resulted in explosion of steelhead. The river upstream of the dams had a large healthy population of wild rainbows
I am wondering whether the run on the middle branch of the nooksack river explodes with the removal of the Bellingham diversion dam

Wow. Jordan by far this is the best fishing trip that I so want to do. The fishing there by far is the best. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’m restricted from travel do to my job at the hospital I would book a trip there as soon as possible. It has been so hard to get away but with so much going on I have to do. Thanks for sharing your trip. I wish I could get out of town.
