i had my front wheel brake changed to 4pods GT4 calipers. wonderful at braking. DC5 are great at straight but taking sharp corners need to brake early.
Yes a Type R. This is a power to weight series though, so more closely matched than in road spec. You can see DC5 perspective here: th-cam.com/video/LzaKzk2Wu9o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6drh79aeKQSbg_Ok
Thanks, the only real modification to the engine to make sure it lasts a 45 minute race is a baffled sump (a must if you track a Celica), all other mods are performance based. I change up around 7800rpm
Are you running stock rotor size and the single piston in the front? I have a 2001 that I track and I'm running BluestuffNDX pads in the front (stock brakes) and there is nooooo way that I'm stopping faster than a clio.
I'm running a Toyota Avensis front brake conversation. It's still a single piston calliper but bigger than the original and the disc/rotor is 295mm from memory vs 255mm standard. Pads are Carbotech (not cheap but impressive bite). I have reached the limit of this set up, I need to upgrade to 4 pots when budget allows or someone sponsors me
@@donovan_racing Should I go with the Avensis conversion now and then later go for a big brake kit or just stop going so fast for a few months and then splurge on a nice BBK set in the front?
@@HanKamiBeats Never stop going fast! The Avensis conversion is great value for money and allows me to out-brake some pretty decent machinery, but it's never going to be better than 4 pots
@@postmortemarg I had never heard of that, rather the one that explodes the cams is 2zz, 1zz bullet proof more torque...more revs as you say is the same as saying less torque....
damn Celica so underrated
Excellent driving; well done.

Nice driving. Was that blue DC5 a Type R?

Do the Avensis brakes straight swap?
Yes, the callipers and then the discs/pads are a direct swap
Very nicely done! What did you have to do to the 2ZZ to make it last the race distance? How high are you revving the engine?

@@donovan_racing Wow impressive that you don't need aftermarket oil pump gear too
Enjoyed that 👍🏻
My man! 🔥

I've done the avensis brake upgrade and their 👍👍 really enjoyed watching this video❤🎉
You wouldn't happen to know of a us spec Toyota that shares the same brake setup as the Avensis front brakes?
Afraid not. Worth posting on the Celica facebook group or forum as I bet someone will have an answer
I did some research, And in case this might help others. Apparently they are the same calipers used on the 93-99 celicas@@donovan_racing
Is it the 2zz or 1zz motor?
2zz
@@donovan_racing nice, glad to see 2zz love. Is that the rotrex build from seven motorsports or n/a?
@@jwhittmusic It's an n/a which means staying on lift is crucial to pace!
The 1ZZ would blow up lol, the 2ZZ was made for revving very high

why dont you remove the airbag?
lol haha what is wrong with this clio driver :) he destroyed fun and cars of almost everyone
Estos motores de Toyota no son muy rápidos
