People and kids do better and parents tend to be happier with that sort of tradition. You’re not entirely wrong. But the traditional aspect isn’t always the best roles. Especially people tend to weaponize “traditional” roles. Besides, if the father is better with the kid he should be the watch him, especially if the mother can make more. We shouldn’t really focus on gender roles, instead on the person’s ability to succeed. For example: My mother was a shit parent, so she worked while my father took care of us. Since he was the better parent. If you like gender roles, you do you. But to make it seem it’s the better choice is rather goofy. It’s like me telling you that being a single parent is better. Just because I believe so.

My mom also was a horrific parent and she’d rather be alone in her room then spend five minutes with me and immediately starts fights with me as an excuse to go to her room. Obviously I meant ideal, not when dads a beater or mom is a devouring mother with an emotional incest relationship with her son. What I mean is, whatever the defined roles are, relationships worked better when everyone knows what is expected. Can you exceed at a job if your boss’ hands you a list of expectations and it’s blank and you have no idea at all what is expected, how to do a good job or to excel at your job? Even if the roles are reversed and mom works while dad stays home, what I’m saying is both parties need to have a full understanding the expectations of the other going into a marriage
