- Canadian comedian Norm Macdonald performs early versions of his material that was developed into Netflix specials "Hitler's Dog, Gossip & Trickery", released in 2017, and "Nothing Special", released posthumously in 2022.
Recorded July 8th, 2011 at at The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on a greasy bacon double cheeseburger flip phone.

It is easy to overlook how technical the craft of stand-up is. Norm was a natural talent, somehow he was born to tell jokes.
His nuance and timing are/were something to behold.
Makes you feel comfortable knowing some people are just chosen to do things. Love Norm so much despite his vices and flaws. He really led a reflective life till the end ❤
His jokes have no punchlines; it's more like a rolling commentary from his imagination. He's just natural funny that's why his comedy is really one of a kind. Coupled with courage and persistence, his spirit will always be alive in our hearts. Rip
@@s1ckch1ck I get what you are saying, but I think it was more a case of converting the set ups to almost punch lines of their own, followed by an actual punch line, although sometimes it took a long time to get to the punchline. Whatever it is, it was a brand of humor few could pull off, but Norm regularly did.

He played dumb but graduated high school at 14.

I have been watching a whole lot of Norm clips recently. I only started to understand his comedy style right before he passed. Previously I grew up not even liking him in the 1990s and then just, like, forgot he existed in the 2000s as I was paying attention to other comedians and entertainers. Then one day I started seeing his Conan clips recommended to me because I always liked Conan. And so I watched, and then it just, “clicked”! It was like, all of a sudden, I sorta kinda understood Norm’s style now. Well, enough to laugh anyways. So I have been watching him more and more lately! And am glad that, my brain finally progressed enough to be able to “get” at least some of his jokes.🎉🎉

Kind of the same here although I always thought he was hilarious on SNL I really didnt bother keeping track of him at all after that. Only just the last couple of weeks catching up and now I feel bad that I missed all the great stuff he put out over the past nearly two decades.

I'm from the UK and I love Norm but that ole chunk of coal never toured the UK (I think) so I decided to book a trip just to see him. A week later he passed. It broke my heart as much as any break up.

Norms style of humour takes a bit of getting used to, some might cry foul and say he pushes things too far, I disagree. Norm had zero badness in him, his world was wacky and you know it`s only words, he doesn`t mean any of it.
