My dad has an old 2003 Tahoe LT. I've loved that thing since I was a kid. Almost 200k miles and running strong as ever. NO major failures EVER, and she just got a new set of tires for being so nice to us :)
Just picked up a 2005 tahoe LT with 110,000 miles for $4500. Clean truck no dents no leaks. Took it on a road trip to Baja I'm in love with this truck.
I own a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe LT, New Body Style and the Engine is amazing, it is still original and has 430,000 kilometres / 267,190 miles on it and it is still going. Great car. Also, lol It's taken out two deer on the highway but, it kept on going.
I own a 2002 z71 tahoe with 176,000 miles and I've only changed the waterpump and thermostat on it since I've had it and it was abt 100 bucks so overall it's been an amazing truck great for offroad and just looks great!
I have owned my dark green 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe since I bought it brand new in 2004. It's by far the most reliable and best vehicle I have ever owned. I wish they still made them this way. The 2007-2014 are junk and the 2015+ are too expensive for a platform we don't know enough about.
I have the new bloody style avalanche has way more in it this one I have the 5.3 320 horse power and it rides like a dream and it has 258,198 mile and runs great and shifts great
I have a 2006 Suburban LT 2wd, and honestly with the stabilitrak locking rear diff it does awesome on slick and snowey roads. I just rolled over 118k this week. I love it, my last truck was a 06 Sierra 1500, good truck but had the High Output all aluminum 5.3 with my upgrades it made 325 hp instead of stock 310, I wish you could get the SUVs with the VHO 5.3 but it was only a option in the 1500 ext cab 4x4 trucks. My Suburban has the flex fuel and only makes 295. Regular 5.3 Motors only make 285hp same as 4.8 but still have the same Torque figures.

I've owned 4 Chevy trucks ranging from 97-98, a 97 Tahoe and an 03 Trailblazer. I test drove one of these Tahoes for the very first time today and was not disappointed at all. Definitely next on my list.
You know the number one reason vehicles have problems? It is owner/operator neglect. My 04 LT autoride with 180k is fine and reliable the only issue I have had is the driver seat base control. If you properly maintain and drive your Tahoe it will last a long time. Same with my friend's 2003 Tahoe Z71. What did you replace that was over $5000 if you don't mind me asking?
I have a 2003 z71 Tahoe at 180k the trans is done and needs a new rear main seal. It’s been great as the family truckster I’m not ready to drop big money to fix it so it sits in my garage. Miss it. Any suggestions on low cost fixes?
These are a very nice truck at a reasonable price if you find a clean example. They're in many ways superior to the later generation 2007 models and very cheap to own and maintain compared to other similar vehicles. If you live in the rust belt you need to be vigilant and invest in some oil undercoat.
Removing the seats depends on the person I was 15 and could remove the seat without any problems but I work out alot too so be in shape and it will pay off!!
Jamie Young considering mini Vans are front wheel drive, that is the only way your are going to get "van like" third row seating. Since the Tahoe has a rear wheel drive setup, the rear axle, transmission and drive shaft are running back the entire length of the vehicle which ultimately reduces interior space. The third row was added as an option but the main point of this vehicle is capable off road and on road driving, towing and somewhat hauling. The added third row is just to appeal to those who tend to carry more people from time to time.
Failed to mention the negatives. Every vehicle has them. Expensive piece of crap. Comes to mind. But hey just my opinion, owned my 03 Z71 for two years. And I've put over 5000.00 in repairs. Mine has just 125,610 miles. Yes it is for sale! Anybody interested????5500.00

i like 1999 body in my opinion i like the square body
Nathan Parker and Bose are a entirely differnt truck. They have a 5.7l v8 and not as many features when fully loaded
seats are heavy but you can move it by yourself and the brakes are good i dont think they feel soft or weak
These trucks were built to last. Chevys all the way. Only downfall is fuel economy.

this type of car is actually nice!
2019 why I am here

Just to let you know, they are prone to blowing brake lines. Twice it happened and twice I lucked out..won't be a third time.
You can upgrade the breaking package.
super nice truck
When GM use to be reliable! Now they’re garbage.
So does a second gen Tahoe make a good first car for someone?
I got one for my first car and I love it.
My first car and I love it
Got one for mine and its awesome
Yes
Wrong expedition picture that was 2007 , not 2000-2006 ,..
same with the sequoia(2008)
ikr
I need a 2006 Tahoe Motor Tensioner, full white or black
Removing the seats depends on the person I was 15 and could remove the seat without any problems but I work out alot too so be in shape and it will pay off!!

Newer Chevy is junk

I have an '02 with 310K on it so I think you're just unlucky.
the worst dashboard ever. it feels hard and sounds like its made from trash can when you knock on it
This generation sucks, the ones before and after rock, but at least all are built to last!
