Knowing that I bought a gently used 23’ GX460 with 19k on the clock and a V8 for just $43k a couple months ago makes me smile & quite happy. What an actual joke!
That’s a good fricken price for a 2023. The one I looked at was a 2023 with 3k miles and they wanted $60k. Which…is basically what they were new. How’s it drive as slow speeds? Turning, etc in parking lots? It felt really heavy to me.
@BrianNC81 tahoe is American car it is going to be cheaper because it's domestic car unlike Toyota car which is import car. Plus state and federal taxes on non-domestic cars will increase the price. As a result Toyota will have to increase the price.
The new Passport seems like a more compelling deal. I get that it’s a unibody platform but most people aren’t going to take it off roading but to Cosco
That Passport is going to sell very well. I would have considered it if it was available when I bought a new car a few months ago. The big downsides of it to me are the lack of a two-speed transfer case and the push button shifter. But the relatively low price might have been enough to make me overlook those things. Maybe.
Well, passport is good enough for light off road, no body is gonna go super crazy hardcore off road, who cares about body on frame? At most, passport is 55K unlike 68K for a 4 cylinder hybrid 4 runner.
@@tyronewilson7890Yes, in fact we just picked up a 2025 Black Edition for $56k OTD. Built quality is better than the new stuff Toyota has been pumping out.

If people would refuse to pay it, the price would come down. But you know there are the people who can afford it and want to flaunt that they can afford it, so they will pay whatever, and the markup on top of that. We all waited eagerly for the new full size Bronco and saw the ridiculous markups. My local Ford dealer wanted $10,000 markup for "market adjustment". Now their lot is flooded with unsold vehicles, including rows of full size Broncos.
Honestly, I could afford to walk in today and write a check for a top trim TRD Pro or Trailhunter. However, I think the pricing on the top trims is absolutely asinine by Toyota. I still am in the market to upgrade from my current gen SR5, but I probably will go SR5 again or even a middle of the road TRD Off-road just because I can’t justify paying that much for a 4Runner.
It's a free market system, they will only charge what people are willing to pay. Don't like the price, move on! I wish more people followed this instead of getting upset about it.
Horrendous pricing all around, and the worst part is these first few model years are going to have all sorts of issues. Just the like the Tacoma. Just like the Tundra.
Overpriced plastic on frame with a weak turbo 4 cylinder engine that’s waiting will grenade on you, and the weak Tacoma transmission. Toyota has lowered the standards, very sad to see.
you know its goin to be expensive when toyota kept us in suspense for the pricing of these thigns. $12,000 difference is just crazy and mpg still sucks
The pricing is LOL. Good thing too as the last thing I needed was to finance at 6% a large SUV like this thats got tiny range and not the most nimble thing around town. If the price was like the last gen I'd probably have sprung for it - this is an insane increase
I’d buy the new Honda Passport coming out next year. AWD is all I need and it has a V6 plus it cost under 56k for a fully loaded one. Toyota is nuts, WTF is paying these crazy prices 😂 I’ve paid off my house and 2 vehicles and still wouldn’t pay these crazy prices !
In context of the Toyota lineup, the pricing makes sense. They're placing it between the Tacoma and Land Cruiser. Trail Hunter and TRD Pro will sell mostly above MSRP. Toyota will limit production to keep demand up. Lower trims will eventually be advertised with discounts, but actually sell close to MSRP as the starting price will be inflated with add-ons.
So that means adding around $5k to each of those prices before the dealer adds their market adjustment cost. Who thought that a Toyota would be priced the same as the Land Cruiser equivalent.
Toyota saying, “F*ck the middle class!” Entry level 6th Gen Toyota 4Runner SR5 2WD $42,220!!! The non-hybrid TRD Off-road is $50,640!!! $68,350 starting price for the TRD Pro and the Trailhunter!!! 😂😂😂.
Seriously. Get the base SR5 4x2 or 4x4 and build it up to your specifications over time. You’ll end up with a lot more custom and unique 4Runner than the lemmings that pay a $5k dealer markup for the Pro or Trailhunter.
I can see low-mile 5th gen models becoming very desirable when 4Runner fans realize Toyota put Lexus prices on what used to be a relatively affordable, wonderfully reliable vehicle. I just can't wrap my head around a $70k sticker on even a loaded 4Runner!
The day of the “mark up” is over there hasn’t been mark ups in almost two years. We are at the peak of a horrible market crash too. I am seeing massive discounts up to 20k of some brand and models
