- A 41-year-old chartered accountant from Pune became the first confirmed casualty of a Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) outbreak in the city, which has seen 111 cases in under three weeks. The patient, who initially experienced diarrhea on January 9, was later diagnosed with GBS after developing severe weakness and paralysis. Despite treatment, his condition worsened, leading to his death on January 24. The outbreak has led to the dispatch of a high-level team from the Centre to assist Pune's response. GBS is a rare neurological disorder where the immune system attacks the peripheral nerves, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis, often triggered by a viral or bacterial infection. Symptoms, which can progress rapidly, include tingling, weakness, and paralysis, sometimes affecting breathing and swallowing. Preventative measures include drinking boiled water, washing food thoroughly, avoiding undercooked food, and practicing good hygiene, especially hand washing.

I have affected with GBS in 2020 , I took treatment in Allopathic as well as in mix of Ayurveda and siddha in my personal experience Virihat vatchintamani Ras and Brahmi Ghritham works in very fastest way you can get rid from numbness and muscle atrophy very quickly.
May be due to high level of environmental pollution and ecosystem failure
