Brushless will allow higher current before frying and will work longer. If you put brushed one through same, youll kill the motor and it wont be worth fixing. Apart from my Makita orbital sander and their 14.4/18V and AC Fan, all their tools are brushless both from LXT and XGT. I dont even think Makita make brushed XGT tools.
I asked the same thing to dean over a year ago and ended up buying a brushless grinder. The amount of abuse I put it through made it worth it, I mostly use it to cut tiles and concrete, a brushed machine simply wouldnt have the power and would drain my batteries too fast.
Brushless is better in some ways, for example if you live in a 3 world country you can’t get brushes from amazon or ebay, so brushless removes you that worry

Remember that they are non-standard ones along with the driver, so you wont be able to use normal 1/4 bits or adapters. That set is their System 6 (6mm), standard 1/4 bits are 6.15mm.
Is it really a DGA 452 model or a BGA 452 model? I have such a grinder and you can see the inscription BGA 452 18V on it. Is it a different model or the same?
Are the new makita 18v tool just as repairable as the older tools? Have Milwaukee kit am wanting to change over to makita is it worth it? Or are they similar with the newer tools?
I think we owe a big thank you for all the info you shared. I am deciding which cordless tool brand to choose. Milwaukee M18 vs makita 18V vs makita 40V. From the info you have shared i will avoid milwaukee, i am mostly leaning toward to makita 40V. Is it as reliable and as repair friendly as the 18V makita line? I have the best exprerience with corded makita tools, but some say that it is not as it used to be reliability vise. Anyone have any experience with 18 against 40V makita tools? Tanks for all replies and info. :)
In a Hikoki 36v cordless grinder, is it possible to change the bearing in the head? The gear has a circlip retaining it, can the gear be pressed back on/off without damaging it? I replaced the bearing on the shaft but now the head is noisy.
Its possibly Wiha 00623 set. Be aware that Wiha use non-standard bits for some of their set or torque driver. This set use 6mm bits, while standard 1/4 is around 6.15mm. For torque drivers they use even 4mm bits.

Agree 100% using model numbers (Makita with the world and US #) is a great development.

What exactly was the issue with the grinder other than it needing some maintenance?
Common problem whit them brusshes overheated and stuck in holder( and caps melted) so you change holder , brusshes and caps(some cleaning also)

That is a good way to clean them, and so little grease in the right place.
