- Presenting: the Mikes Models Talyllyn ex Corris coach WITH ENDON VALLEY CUSTOM DECALS to boot! This has been in the works for a while, as they needed my kit to scale their decals to fit, but what an amazing result, and will look perfect on the Talyllyn layout!

You've made a beautiful job of that! I daresay it took a while to track down one of those kits, I think the reason none of us have made a 3D printed Corris coach yet is we're all expecting someone else is already doing one!
Thankyou, I think there are 3D versions available, but they’re not the best quality..
Obviously if other certain people had a go at it, they’d most likely be a higher standard ;)

Great looking model. Two things: I would use a cocktail stick and not sharp, pointy tweezers to slide and position the decals in place. I speak from experience if I say the tweezer can damage the decal. Especially when you are using a bit more time (and the decal gets softer). Second thing: if you use Microsol sol or Decal fix after the decal has dried, it will soften and fall over all uneven spaces. That way you also might get rid of the air that still is visible under the decals.

@@GWilliamsonModels One more thing about the Decal fix, if you would be using it. Put it on quickly and do not touch the decal for a few hours. It makes the decal very soft and if you touch it at this stage, you'll ruin it.
It would have been a good idea to spray the coach, especially the lower panels, with a gloss varnish as the decals sit on it without trapping air bubbles underneath.

You can always varnish over the top with matt if that's the effect you're after.

Interesting to see that some of the Corris bogie coaches were once two coaches which ran separately for 12 years before a the manager bought some bogie frames.
I suppose this is one way "character" develops.
The Corris coach is much more airy and open than the old ffestiniog ones.
I guess there is a limit to the number of subjects which can be profitably modeled commercially.

Yes I have. Before the world of resin, I made most of my kits in brass, typically the worsley works products
As usual, fascinating watching you build these kits. Good idea having a whitemetal underframe on this coach as this adds weight which leads to better running on the layout and leads to my question how heavy is that coach?
Yes the white metal under frame is a great part of the model. It’s actually not that heavy at all, as the plastic holds next to no weight

as this is a corris coach
will you somtimes use it on your corris layout?
I haven’t checked if it runs on the Corris layout, that was never designed with coaches in mind, but I guess it’s possible

Wonderful as always George. Gorgeous carriage, now properly restored and good for another 50 year stint in traffic.
I'm interested in the decals, as my own pet lost cause, the Isle of Wight Central, in the fin de siècle 'electric red loco with teak carriages' era, similarly included running numbers within the garter ... as well as hideously narrow double lines, virtually invisible on old monochrome images and generally forgotten about on the couple of paintings I've seen ... and by modellers with any sense!!
BTW, sanity is overrated, it lacks any meaningful datum against which to judge it and in my experience, those who claim it are Dagenham East anyway.
If you need decals, ‘Endon Valley Custom Decals’ did these, and are happy to make custom up if they don’t stock what you need!
And don’t worry, my sanity flew the nest years ago
I absolutely love this coach probably my favirote coach on the talyllyn these days. I really want to rise inside of it once.
