  • John barges his way across Scotland along perhaps the most dramatic and scenic canal in Britain - the Caledonian Canal. The canal links together three natural lochs, each a vast expanse of water as it makes its way right across Scotland from coast to coast. Along the way he searches for Nessie the monster, learns how to tackle arguably the highland's real monster - the humble rhododendron - and, much to his delight, enjoys a stop at the occasional whiskey distillery.

They teach you about a fake monster at school? There's literally no proof it exists, no bones, no mate, not enough food to sustain 1 much less 2 so it can breed. If it did exist it would be dead

@k henne but why teach it in school? Our schools have enough trouble teaching real history. Nessy is used for tourist money. The person who took that 1 picture that started it worked for the tourism board, how's that for history?

My brother waited 25 years to tell me he saw a Sasquatch. Lake DeGray campsite in Arkansas 1991.

@k henne Yes and I understand that is hard to believe. However he and I were in our mid teen in the late 80s. This's a mile or two away from where he saw it... we both saw a grey floating thing fly over the golf course at about 20 feet off the ground. We thought it was a joke then realized it may have been a spirit-demon?

@@Exodus26.13Pi In native culture, we really do believe in sasquatch's, and even have teachings around them. They really are spirits, primarily just to watch the land that they're on and to protect it. The biggest warning (because I know quite a few people who've seen them) is to not get too close. They can be dangerous if you provoke them, or even if you don't. They all have their own personalities. Mostly everybody just runs the other way. One guy told me he made eye contact with one when he was hunting and it put the fear of god into him ahahhaha

So Inverness and Fort William are connected by water? Outlander didn't say that and now I'm way more impressed

Doing this trip on the SS Nomadic (little sister of the Titanic on static display in Belfast) would be great! They should restore the old steamer to sea and canalworthy condition :-)

I wonder why in the NW of the US we don't have the problem with the Rhododendrons. We even have a wild one that grows here.

Not so where I live. We don't have fires west of Seattle. We have very similar weather to England. Before you wonder how I would know that, I lived in England for a time.
