    1. Clean, wash and soak horsegram for 4 hours.
    2. Now, steam it and let it cool down, then strain excess water.
    3. In a pan, add 1tsp of oil, mustard seeds and curry leaves and allow it to sit.
    4. Add some finely chopped tomatoes, saute it, then add 2tsp of garlic paste and saute it again.
    5. Add 1 spoon of lemon juice, salt and water and boil it.
    6. Add the horsegram into it, let it mix well and mash it.
    7. Remove the paste into a bowl and let it cool down and
    8. strain the juice nicely from the mixture.
    9. Pour the rasam drink into a glass and it's ready to serve!

I mean daily if u need then it’s time consuming N honestly I have no patience for all this as this drink is an invention from olden days . Best is fresh ginger squeezed in form of water.( not to put ginger in boiling water ) add lemon into the ginger water and yes add hot or luke warm water, drink it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning.
Wait for 40 to 45 minutes then hv breakfast .

Dr., we have been informed that cooking oil is detrimental to health, as it provides no beneficial nutrients and can increase bad cholesterol. However, you are advising us to use cooking oil in the recipe. Could you please clarify? Thank you.

Namaste, Cooking oils such as unrefined cold pressed coconut oil, canola, groundnut, rice bran oil have nutrients required by the body.Palm Oil, Margarine these contribute to bad cholesterol so we must avoid them.
