- #64 - Kerzel Hit & Miss Model Engine - Part 10
A series of videos machining and building the David Kerzel Hit & Miss internal combustion engine.
Part 10 - Machine the Cylinder Liner, Piston, Wrist Pin and a trial assembly
The engine has inlet/exhaust valves, spark plug, ignition system, water cooling.
Made from bar stock: Steel, Brass and Aluminium
WARNING: Machining/Turning can be dangerous.
DO NOT operate machinery without having the knowledge and skill to do so. The methods I use are my way of doing things and may not be correct.
Hi,
I’ve recently subscribed to your channel… I really enjoyed this video; I like your logical approach to the order of machining the component parts…
I’ll definitely be going back to the start of the series and working forward.
Cheers
Paul,,
Great Video Kevin, and that engine is a stunner. I look forward to these videos with loads of precise work, working to tolerances, and getting great finishes on (usually) difficult materials. Awesome stuff, please keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next bit. Cheers, Craig
Thanks Craig. I've since deepened the piston ring grooves and the engine turns over a lot better now. I still have some room to play with but am going to wait until I run the engine for the first time. I don't want to risk loosing compression. Kev
@@Machine_NZ No, as they say: easy to take more off, hard to put it back!
Kevin, she is looking great!! I can't wait to see it run. You do excellent work sir. :-)
Thanks for watching. How's the renovations going?
@@Machine_NZ I received the cabinets but some were damaged. Now I am waiting on replacement bits before I can hang them. It is aggravating because I am at a standstill until I get them in. 😟
Very nice machine work. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Steven, thanks for watching. Regards Kevin
Hi Kevin. That’s looking really nice mate
Thanks Stephen and thanks for watching
Great progress and video thanks for the info
Thanks Joseph
Hi Kevin
It's starting to take shape! It will be interesting to see what tollerence you end up with for the piston ring grooves.
Cheers

Hi Andrew. Yes me to, seams pretty tight at the moment.
Gday Kevin, beautiful job on the liner and piston, i can’t wait to hear the engine running, what is the flywheel going to be made from?, beautiful engine mate👌🏼
Hi Matty, on the plans it says to make them from steel. Thanks for watching. Regards Kevin
Coming together really nicely Kevin! What brand oil can have you got there? looks nice a solid
Hi Glen, thanks. The oil can is a AT088 Plews Gun. Works great as a oil can. Regards Kevin
Thanks Kevin, I’ll check them out
