Once a journalist asked Rios how he worked to be the best at such young age. At which Marcelo responded "Que te importa a vo' sapo conchetumare". That's translated to "The secret is being a good person first, everything else is secondary"

People got it all wrong. He started playing Tennis at 13, which is already late for most elite guys. He set a goal and said: in 10 years I'll be number 1, the BEST in the world. He did it at 23. He actually did it. That was his goal, nothing else. He worked HARD to overcome his late entry on the sport and a rather weak physique. He DID work hard and that's why he got injured; his knee and back simply broke and he couldn't keep up with elite, NUMBER ONE level. But his dedication and talent were IMMENSE. For a short, rather weak guy to humilliate guys with freaking gifted genetics and hardworkers, it requieres not only insane talent, but DEDICATION, hard work.

Con el perdón de Federer pero el Chino Rios fue el tenista más talentoso que he visto en la ATP. Si hicieramos un absurdo comparativo en su mejor momento era como ver a Ronaldinho Gaucho on fire. Saludos desde Perú

No one ever, ever played more beautifully than Ríos...you have players that rely on their sheer power, others rely on their service, others on their stamina to try and tire out their opponents...Ríos had subtlety, finesse, touch and a killer instinct to put the ball in unreachable spots...the most elegant and visually attractive tennis ever...a real entertainer, and what is tennis or any other individual ball game but a show..?
