  • Quick 5 minute review of my honest opinion of this setup. This Tusk configuration worked very well.
    I'm very happy with them!! They work great on the KTM 790/890 platform. Best Moto Camping setup for the money, I used them on the California Backcountry discovery Route now twice..

    Sick setup, I bought these bags last year after watching this review and im glad I did, they have been so functional and reliable The only thing I wish they had was a beaver tail on the front of the panier bags. I think that would complete them.

    • @ADV_Agenda

      So for anybody wondering I have an update. The tusk pannier racks with the tusk pilot pannier bags fit perfectly on the 890 adventure r. I did buy the tusk plate for easy attatch and disconnect rich makes it very easy and simple to remove or mount the soft bags. I also bought a gas tank fall guard for the bike to from Touratech that fit perfect to. So as far as I can tell 790 adventure products fit perfect for the 890

    Nice video. I am in the process of purchasing a KTM 390 Adventure. I have been debating between getting the Tusk pannier rack and the Tusk Pilot soft panniers or getting the Tusk Highland X2 rackless bag system. I've been leaning towards the paniers, but with the racks and the hardware to make the paniers quick connect/disconnect with the Tusk system it will add a lot of weight to the bike. I held all of the pannier rack gear, and it feels like it is between 30-40 pounds. I notice in your video that some guys you ride with have the rackless bags. Do you have any experience with those, and would you recommend the paniers over a rackless system knowing what you know now? Thanks!

    • @ADV_Agenda
      @ADV_Agenda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      From my experience with my buddies the reckless system (Tusk Highland 2 ) it's very cool but it's a pain in the butt to get your stuff in and out they're definitely lighter, The rack panniers are heavier I don't notice it that much on my 790 but on a 390 you probably would, there's a guy named ADV Matt that's running hard bags on his 390 I believe he has over 12k on his system and he loves them, he carries a lot of stuff for filming and living off grid for weeks you should check out his videos as well.
      The only major advantage probably is the crash protection with the hard racks. I think the rackless system looks better then the rack system.
      You could always order the Highland set try it on your bike see how it fits if you don't like it return it get something else, Rocky mountain is really cool about that.
      I hope this was helpful

    • @HardBoiledGregADV
      @HardBoiledGregADV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ADV_Agenda thanks for the feedback. I have been watching ADV Matt's channel for the last six months or so. He's got some good content. I buy a lot of stuff from Rocky Mountain ATV MC. They are about 30 minutes from my house. :) I now have both the Tusk pannier rack with Pilot bags and the Highland X2 in my possession. The problem is that RMATV won't take anything back that isn't in original packaging and in original condition, so there's no way they'd take the pannier rack back after I installed it on my bike. I just need to find someone who has the 390 Adventure with the Tusk rack on it. ADV Matt was so new with the bike that he had to get a lot of his stuff from overseas since nobody in the U.S. was making gear for it. Now there are more options. Happy riding!

  • @kennyg42
    @kennyg42 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Thanks for the video. I love not having the side bags, but I thought they might help picking up the bike when it is dropped. In your opinion are they worth the added weight and changed look of the bike? Do they help to pick up the bike?

    • @ADV_Agenda
      @ADV_Agenda  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, I've used mine several times to pick up my bikes. And when I'm riding without my luggage, the racks actually saved my exhaust system. It's not if it's when you go down they say. LoL

    • @kennyg42
      @kennyg42 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ADV_Agenda Thanks! That is good to know. The bike is so flat when it falls and my exhaust has dents from my last adventure. I might be going that route.

  • @adventuristnw2321

    Noticed you did not use the top straps. I hate the idea of those. It's a quick release system with a solid mounting plate. Any drawbacks from not using them?

    • @ADV_Agenda
      @ADV_Agenda  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No not at all, I think the straps are for when you're using the system without the quick release takes a lot of pressure off the top, keeps them from flopping. The back plate from the quick release system keeps them very rigid

    • @adventuristnw2321
      @adventuristnw2321 ปีที่แล้ว +1
