Waaaay back in the States when I was a young whippersnapper, I used to go to bars and dance to disco/techno/etc. music, lol. It was so easy to get 'lost' in when dancing, especially having smoked some wacky backy . I still love the music, but found out as I aged, that many of my friends grew out if it, lol. Anyway, I love your work, your creativity, and your great teaching style.

I was looking through TH-cam for mica in molds tutorials and came across this tutorial. I think they all look amazing. Thank you I am now a new subscriber. Look forward to seeing more of what you do.
You can use a up resin to set the eyes into the mold first , cure that and then pour in your black, that way you don’t have to worry about the eyes lifting or black getting underneath. Thank you for this video on using the pigments, it was great help to me.

I really loved this video Toonpish 😃 it was great to see how mica's would react and these are great tips to use and I loved the mold especially the kitty 😍 so I orderd the mold immediately 😂 now I only need to find out the size of the big eye mold, the other size I have at home lol Thanks Toonpish for all your vids
That is so kind Jessie. I hope you enjoy using it. I think the large eyes are 25 mil but that is just from memory, don't take my word. The smaller ones are either 12 or 14 mil I think. I don't think I've been much help here 😃👍 but I tried
Those are gorgeous - I am wondering if you put Vaseline on the front of the eye first if it would be easier to clean as resin doesn’t stick to Vaseline - just a thought. I would love to see how you do the eyes too please

You do have to use quite a bit. Sounds like it was too thin, not enough pigment. Try it on a flat silicone mould Different amounts until you hit the right amount. But don’t brush it on, kinda push it on as in the first part of the video 😀👍
Fantastic! The music is a bit loud for my taste, but I could still hear most of what you were doing. There are endless questions on how to use mica, so this will be a huge reference for those folks. Gave me some new ideas as well!

Hello I've not poured a drop of resin in my life but I have been putting together my Arsenal in order to do so. I am wondering if using a UV resin first in the eyeball socket and attaching the eyeball then going about your business would change anything as far as resin getting under the eyeball?

Okay, I couldn't take off my eyes from the screen for the whole time. Mica powder is magic 😳 I'd like to ask, could it be a solution to the resin covering up the eyes parts, that you put in a little clear resin before putting in the eyes? I only used UV resin so far, not the two-component epoxy type, and this just blurted out of my mind... I'm just curious 😃 Thank you for the video, it was awesome, and I'm eagerly waiting for more 🥰
Hello 👋 I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Your idea about the clear resin would work but I do love the glass to be free from resin so it sparkles 👍😁. So I would want to clean the eye up afterwards. I will be making an eyeballs tutorial soon too. 😁👍😀
Do you have any tips on how to get the resin into all the nooks and crannies? I've poured two baby dragons and was uber careful with the 2nd but still have bubbles on his horns and spine. I love your color choices on these!
Those look great! I am wondering though, if once you remove the item from the mold is the mica powder "set" or can it still rub off on your hands? Should it be sealed with some sort of clear coat?
Gold leaf is static. It sticks to silicone as long as it is not too thick. I used way too much. 😂😂 I would use the gold leaf glue after resin has cured though 😀😀❤️👍

Like the tutorial - I'm just beginning to experiment with mica powders. How 'bout a drop or two of resin in the eye cavity,, set the eye and cure would stop the black from invading the eye socket.
Good idea but it’s another step if you wait for it to cure first, which is another day basically. I was thinking of trying a little liquid latex. That dries quickly 🤔😀💜
Ahh...I use UV resin and keep forgetting 'bout the extended curing time of 2-part epoxy. Can you not use UV to set the eye then finish with epoxy?@@Toonpish

This is lovely. When I tried this the colour just did not stay on. It just kind of dried up and vanished. Left small blobs

I use a micro brush to get air out of trapped areas.

Yes the mica is completely encapsulated in the resin. It is as one so no need to seal it at all 😀👍

There is an adhesive for gold leaf that would probably work for mold #4
Gold leaf is static. It sticks to silicone as long as it is not too thick. I used way too much. 😂😂
I would use the gold leaf glue after resin has cured though 😀😀❤️👍

Like the tutorial - I'm just beginning to experiment with mica powders.
How 'bout a drop or two of resin in the eye cavity,, set the eye and cure
would stop the black from invading the eye socket.
Good idea but it’s another step if you wait for it to cure first, which is another day basically.
I was thinking of trying a little liquid latex. That dries quickly 🤔😀💜
Ahh...I use UV resin and keep forgetting 'bout the extended curing time of 2-part epoxy. Can you not use UV to set the eye then finish with epoxy?@@Toonpish

If you hit that eye with the heat gun for a moment you can trim that all up ever so much more easily. Try it.

Do you think clear resin under the eyes or uv resin would prevent the need for clean up? I thought I ruined my cats because of the eye seepage.
Glass doesn’t stick to resin or visa versa. So clean up isn’t a really big issue.
