Twice in the '80s when I lived in Atlanta and Ole was wrestling for WCW, I accidentally ran into him. Once after a match in Riverdale, I found myself standing next to him at a Wendys counter. King Kong Bundy was next to him. I knew who he was but didn't say anything. Just nodded and he smiled back. He appeared about as wide as he was tall. I couldn't help but notice the deep scars almost every wrestler has over his/her foreheads. That part. . is definitely "real". The second occasion was a couple of years later. I was going into a Krogers on Roswell Rd north of Atlanta when Ole walked out. . .headed directly towards my parked vehicle. This time I did say hello and asked if he lived in the area. He acknowledged that he did and for a few minutes a bit of small talk ensued. He was polite but I didn't want to overstep courtesy. Even more ironic, my lifelong friend in north Ga is an accountant. Guess who was one of his clients for the last years of his life? Yep. Ole. Accordeing to my friend, he was exactly in person who he sounds like here. Onery, combatitive, often difficult to deal with. Granted, not many found Ole Anderson that friendly or engaging but his was a tale to tell. . .like him or not. In the early days when wrestling territories were being carved out, Ole, Gene, Arn and Lars Anderson played major roles in making professional wrestling the success it has become. He left his mark.
S/o to Ricky Morton here. He is actually a really good interviewer. Comes across as more of a conversation then an interview. This is the most comfortable I have seen Ole here....well ever haha.
We’re all Ole’s marks. He worked us all with his grumpy old asshole gimmick till the day he died. He was great. RIP sir you have entertained us all and are a true credit to the profession. They don’t make men like Ole Anderson anymore . Truly a great.
RIP Ole you were great as a wrestler and shoot interviewer. I heard at the pearly gates Ole fills in for St Peter sometimes now. Person goes to heaven. Ole: I can't let you in here you were the shits in life.
Ole reminds me of a boss that I had once. He was hated by some of his peers because he was that good. He didn't need people telling him what to do, the guy was a leader. I figured out quickly that the guy was gold and in the end, I was right.
I remember being a little kid, 10 or 11 years old, and going to the sports arena when they came to town. Used to run around by the locker room doors, hoping to catch sight of Tommy Rich, and came across Ole Anderson sitting in the back watching the matches. I started talking to him and he didn't say much so I asked him if I was bothering him. He said that I wasn't bothering him and started commenting about the matches and asked me what I thought. The wrestlers that I idolized didn't have time to acknowledge me and Ole spoke and let me watch with him . That became my routine when they came. People call him an asshole and miserable and whatever else but he was the only one that took the time to speak to a little girl who was there to watch her wrestling idols. RiP Ole Anderson
I love Rickey. He's matured into a great guy. I'm not saying he wasn't great then, but I never knew him. I feel bad for Ole's family. He had to be hard to live with.
I started watching Thez wrestle in the mid 50s on a TV station out of Chicago. There was no quit, no back up to him….Rest Easy Sir! I’ll be looking for you! Gabe🇺🇸😎🇺🇸 !
Read Ole's book and you will come out with a different point of view on him. RIP to one of the top bookers ever. I don't count his WCW days nothing he could have done there.
I saw Ole beat a guy almost to deat right in front of me and my dad in my hometown in N.C. Then if that weren't enough, Gene jumped in and beat the poor guy even more. Two of the greatest. R.I.P. Ole and Gene
Ole is so damn lovable, I swear. I'd give him a hug and have some coffee with him and just listen to him bitch for two hours and it'd be the best two hours of my lie. You can tell that underneath his grumpiness, he's a good soul. RIP Ole, I love ya.
Ole as a Booker was an Absolute Dickhead. They called it Schrewd Business but it was just being an Asshole... BUT, The guy was Blatantly HONEST and told it like it was. And for that, I Love The Man! We Need more people like him in Society. No Nonsense, Fuck Your Feelings Type Individual! RIP Ole, Great Man in a Great Time!

@@karmaisreal261 Oh I see , didn't know that , thanks. I personally find ole hilarious in these interviews. " He didn't know shit". " He was a dumb fck". All that stuff ole said cracks me up .
Ricky is a liar. He lied on Tully Blanchard and now the 700 club interview is out on you tube and Tully never mentioned Ricky. Why did you lie to your fans Rocking Ricky? Why?
I believe he was running his mouth during all that and td on himself. He probably didn't remember how it got brought up back then. I believe he's a pretty stable guy now. I met him years ago, with some others, near closing time at a bar in Knoxville. He was cool. This was about 30 years ago. I don't remember the bar . It used to be Desperado's. There was about 7 of them standing around and not many other people at the time.
I remember Tommy Rich very well. He was so over.. He's still wrestling. I do believe he became his own worst enemy in some ways. He's still kicking though.
Amateur Wrestling and Submission grappling are two different things, I'm sure Flair wasn't a wuss but he wasn't on Ole's level when it came to fighting.
Doesn't mean he was good with money and invested wise. Plenty of people made a ton of money and went broke. I don't know if he was barely getting by or just living a modest life here with plenty of money in the bank.
He was a millionaire, Bob Roop was friends with Ole and said he was already rich way before the Four Horseman. Ole's health was greatly diminished by here even compared to his highspots interview.
I think this is Ole's Best Interview, i like him because he's honest..
R.I.P. Ole
RIP. I don't care what anyone says, I liked this guy.
Agreed
Me too he was fckn funny
Absolutely agreed!
No filter just told it like it was.
True he said his piece like or not and was a great wrestler...
Same over here.
Thanks for the matches & memories, Ole. May you rest in peace. The original Rock of the squared circle & The Minnesota Wrecking Crew.
Maaaaan!! I love listening to Ole!!! RIP!!🙏🏽
Met Ole for the first time with Thunderbolt Patterson and they were hilarious together. Both guys gave so much to the business.
Rip Ole A great wrestling legend
Ole was awesome. He and Gene were one of the greatest teams ever. His work on the mike, his creativity, and time with the Horsemen make for a legend.
Ricky did a good job keeping Ole on the rails here.
Ya that was hard to do.
Because he respected Ole and so he was patient with him.

Such a great laid back interview. I really enjoyed this one
A real man that knew his craft and was a great worker. Rest in peace, Ole.
I watched this years ago, it's a very funny interview between ole's grumpy demeanor and Ricky nervously crinkling his papers.
S/o to Ricky Morton here. He is actually a really good interviewer. Comes across as more of a conversation then an interview. This is the most comfortable I have seen Ole here....well ever haha.
This was very down to earth honesty on both parts.Great job👍🏼
