Did 7 years night shift as a nurse and didn't have much issues with sleep. I was always a late night person playing video games or watching series so I grew accustomed to nights fairly quickly when I first started. It also helps that I'm an easy, heavy sleeper meaning I fall asleep easy and I can sleep nearly everywhere any time as long as it's a cool temperature. It also helps that my unit crew was fun, noisy, and all around similar ages so we would keep each other busy throughout the night and do some dumb sh1t lol. But, I've never worked a 24 hour shift and I'm not a doctor so brainwork is very different. My remaining few years as a night nurse, age started to take it's toll and nights were rough. Glad to be off bedside, off nights, and now enjoying a great work-life balance as an NP.

But as a regular viewer and a medical student from India, it is very sad to mention as well as to raise your concern, that a resident doctor of pulmonary medicine doing her masters in a Govt Hospital in Kolkata, India was brutally killed and raped during her night duty.

How consistent has your schedule been between taking the night and day shifts? I heard from Huberman that it's much better if you're doing nights to be consistent for at least 2 weeks, rather than swinging between the night and day shifts. If you're doing many night shifts in a row, there are some useful things that you can use to shift your circadian clock, which were covered on Huberman's episode on shift work.

    • @jaskiratsingh7750
      @jaskiratsingh7750 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Dark-le3bn well if you wanna go straight out of high school, you need the following:
      Excellent Grades (90% and above).
Attend the Studienkolleg if it applies to you.
As an international student you need to give TestAS so that you can increase your chances of getting in.
      German upto C1 or C2.
The thing is getting in is tough. Your overall grade (average of the three) will decide whether or not you get in. I believe I'm at a pretty solid position right now. My Abitur from high school alone is 1.3 (1.0 being the highest). I'l try to get 1.0 in both Studienkolleg and TestAS so that I can average it out to 1.1. then you can pretty much get in.
As an international student I believe we have a lot of advantages... Some spots are reserved for international students. And I don't think many would wanna spend a whole year mastering the language, then attending Studienkolleg and then getting in to study the whole thing in German language. So if you do so and keep your Grades high enough. You may end up getting atleast one acceptance.
Many people on the internet say that 1.0 is dead necessity for you to get into medicine or dentistry, but that applies to only 30% students. Rest are decided individually by the University itself.
If you're going after completing your medicine degree, then the pathway is a bit tricky and I don't have much idea about it. But you can check it on the internet. You'll easily find it.
All the best!!! I hope I'll get in hehe!

      for context
Her father found her naked, lying motionless on the floor with a broken pelvic girdle, disfigured limbs, and shattered pieces of glass in her eyes, bleeding uncontrollably. The horror she endured in those final moments is beyond imagination.
Her parents were denied any contact with her body for three hours after arriving at the crime scene. 150 grams of semen was founc in her body, and a single man typically has only 15 grams. A scapegoat is in custody. The Dean labeled her as psychotic. After the case was transferred to the CBl, renovation work started in the hospital.
At this point, it's not just a doctor issue anymore--it's sheer inhumanity. We keep discovering deeper levels of cruelty year after year. Those who hoped for reforms after the Nirbhaya case were naive. It's been 12 years, and nothing has changed. I even saw some Instagram stories claiming that being a doctor in this country is akin to committing a crime.

My sense of it is that American doctors work longer shifts, which is the danger, rather than it being about doing a night shift. As long as you prepare for it and get sleep after night shifts aren’t inherently bad or dangerous short term. Lots of research however about the dangers of long shifts.

Glad social media taking off. Horrible reality hopeful that ppl stop clout chasing a MD certificate and the hospital tells the insurance companies to shuv it and instead place money in hiring more doctors.

In the days of the giants, a 13 hour night was unheard of! Well, ER rotation, maybe. NY City municipal teaching hospital, 24 hour (down from 72 straight hours on every 4th weekend. An NYU resident killed some big wig NY lawyer's daughter directly because of sleep deprivation, dad sued the hospital, the kid, NY and won. Our hours went down immediately.) The logic, however faulty, is that you have to know your stuff and how to do stuff instantly, 24/7. I can't say I approve of the torture, but it worked. And what I wouldn't give to go back on the wards for two shifts... That said, Zack, get the hell out of medicine. Derm, Radiology, even Gas. Short of Peds, Medicine is the lowest paid, least respected of the fields. I loved it, but would never do it again. Have an easy night. Dr H, MD, Internal Medicine

This doesn’t seem realistic to me🤨it’s almost like you’re playing a doctor on TH-cam without actually having an MD! Most docs are up before 5am my mum’s doc was rounding at 5am! So I don’t understand this whole Medfluencer gig just comes across as fake! The only doc I believe is an actual doctor is Rachel Southard the baby doc! She’s the only one I believe is true, this dude I’m on the fence!

U wear scrubs from home? Is it okay to do so? Cuz here in our country we should only change to scrubs only inside the hospital
