I know little about this, wanted to say a few things. First I like how you used the word “maybe” around an idea you posed. Likeable reminder for humility in my own life.
The second thing is, in a way this seems like a charged topic, and as an artist and a past bit of doing physics, I think a lot about how our personal psychology might tweak our science or art in ways we don’t really think about or speak about.
In this talk I’m struck by how some people may benefit from an idea of free will that actually has to do with or is driven by their family of origin, view of history, minor traumas, wants, etc.
And I’ve noticed in the sciences and in psychology I almost want to hear more of a disclaimer almost: here’s all the reasons I might want this to be true and here’s all the methods I’ve used to uncover any bias and work arduously to explore and find support for opposites.
Kind of random thoughts. I’ll have to read/watch more on this video as I’ve only caught occasional things in mass media about free will and determinism etc.
