This is an excellent overview. In business, education, medicine, law enforcement, politics, child development and just about every field where motivation is vital (and that includes just about every field that has ever existed), the importance of recognizing autonomy, relatedness and competence is foundational to bringing out the best experiences for and best contributions from people at so many levels.
