I lusted after the Blonde Ping Eye 2 woods in the Sears catalog when I was a young golfer. Finally got a full set about 5 years ago. I love hitting them. You'd be surprised how many guys come running when I hit one at the tee going "I love that sound!".
I bought my left handed Fairway Finder driver and three Nibliks from you guy 15 years ago and still love them. I know have a high loft Fairway Finder driver and about 5 of your putters. I own a lot of metal woods, but I always come back to my LG persimmons. I am now 73 years old, and started I the early 1960s with persimmon and have always loved the ball flight, sound and feel of good persimmon. I can't thank you enough for the countless great rounds I have enjoyed over the years with your beautiful.clubs. There is no substitute for beautiful hand made bamboo fly rods and handmade persimmon woods. They are true classics that never, ever go out of style.
I just purchased a set of MacGregor Tourneys from the 50's. Makes my game more enjoyable to play in the past. Those clubs will always swing better than me. Thanks.
I think the main reason, it's become too easy to look like you're really good at Golf using clubs with Twist Face, huge amounts of forgiveness, etc... Where as with Wooden clubs, its just either.. PURE or Miss.. :) If you suck, you make a mess.. BUT when you hit a shot off the screws, omg! What a sound.. What a feeling!
These clubs are a work of art. As one of the playing members of the Metropolitan Hickory Society, I own a few of their hickory woods and wedges. The feeling of a pure struck shot is unlike anything in golf.
Bought the Calamity Jane putter a few years ago and have just purchased the HB putter a few days ago. Craftsmanship is second to none and everything is perfect about these beautiful flat sticks. The feel when putting is buttery smooth with my Calamity Jane. Thank you louisville golf for continuing this fine tradition of awesome club making. From Darren Fagan in Ireland👍
Awesome work Gentlemen. There is nothing like the sound of persimmon driver. I bet if Tiger started using a persimmon driver again his driving game would come back. Real Woods needs real woods.
I've a set a of 40 year old mizuno grand monarch persimmon woods passed down to me. They don't hit the ball far but man are they the most gorgeous clubs
Mr. Just, congratulations to you, Elmore and everyone for your devotion to golf "the way it should be." Your line of clubs is outstanding. Nothing sounds better than a pure wood striking a ball.
We are all truly blessed that you are making these works of art. I told my wife that my dream is to own a set of Louisville clubs. I’m sure it would be a golf swing that would make me smile. Thank you all for such quality craftsmanship.
I have a mint LG Niblick and have NEVER in 45 years playing everything had a club like it in my hands. I just scored a like new LG 50's driver to go with it and am busy trying to convert my golf buddies back to persimmons. Learned on persimmons but these LG clubs are exceptional!
I always played Macgregors. I couldn’t hit the ball as far as others but I had better feel for the course. Ultimately it comes down to accuracy. If you can hit the ball straight consistently, your game will improve to its very best. Yes you are at a disadvantage on longer courses and certain layouts, but if your short game is strong you will keep up with the long ball hitters. Ben Crenshaw was one of my favorite professionals. His putting was top notch and it won him a lot of money.
Would you be open to a younger generation person who wanted to come and soak up all that dust and noise and learn the art of the trade as an apprentice from you master artisans to earn the honor to work beside you and keep the craft and company going ? Surely this is only the beginning!
I have McGregor Tourney’s from the late 50’s/early 60’s. They have the keyhole face insert. Taking them apart I discovered that there is a lead weight under the soleplate. It is 3/4” diameter and over 1/2” thick.
Andy refinished a Hogan 3 wood that the sole plate had become bulged on due to the internal lead weight plug coming loose. He was able to preserve the crown signature and the speed slot decal in the toe and weighted it to what I had done using lead tape. That thing is a work of art now that turns heads any time I pull the cover off of it. These guys are national treasures. I wish there was sufficient market for this craftsmanship so it does not die out. The golfing public really doesn't know what it is missing by not using persimmon woods.
I replaced my titliest 3 wood with a Louisville persimmon and I'll never go back. You have to hit it on the screws but it has a better ball flight for me. Same distance as well. If you can hit the ball flush these clubs will go our there with the new technology. Just ordered the dog wood driver. Was gonna go with the thumper but I'm gonna try the small head first.
I can't beleive they can't find an apprentice? Surely people would be lining up to learn this trade. Hell I'd pay to just do a summer internship and learn.

We are so thankful that we are able to continue to add to the legacy of this special game.
Keep doing what you're doing! I have no doubt there are young woodworkers who will carry on your legacy.
👋 mid 20’s
God bless you guys. I’m a traditionalist and I think technology is killing the golf world. Rock on 🤘

This is true spirit of American craftsmanship! I'd dream to have a set then pass those clubs to my children even my grand-children.

Do you split and turn your own hickory shafts?
Mr. Phillips
Canada
All hickory shafts are turned and tuned in-house, and can be modified to any flex or length.
Do you guys ever offer protege opportunities?

Even if you can make a Persimmon golf club, there is no wound ball.
eBay. Lots of brand new Titleist Professionals.
