So many fantastic points were made in this video!!! 1.) Disneyland and Universal truly are on their own tier compared to other theme parks. In other words, as og said, even if Disney (god forbid) had to close its parks, no other theme park (asides from Universal which is a close second) captures the vibes and atmosphere that Disneyland does. 2.) Our friendly neighborhood Spiderman Mr. Webba made an excellent point when he pointed out that Seaworld San Diego is basically highway robbery and that although ticket prices are cheaper, food and merch is still very expensive to the point where you almost pay for the same amount as you would if u were at Disneyland. And Seaworld is definitely inferior compared to Disneyland. 3.) A lot of these parks asides from Disney and Universal need to step up their social media game and make their attractions more appealing when filmed or photos are taken for social media. 4.) I like Seymour’s mindset when it comes to saving for future trips. 5.) Universal building a cheap kids park in Texas similar to Legoland or Peppa Pig Theme Park can hurt their brand badly if sone wrong because people in Texas who don’t visit CA or Orlando will be introduced to Universal for the first time through a kids theme park. 6.) I think it’s cool that Bushgardens feels a lot like an older park because, as Slimer was saying, it gives off a very nostalgic vibe. Excellent discussion as always!
I'd put Hersheypark on the upper tier of Parks, maybe not Disney or Universal level, but I'd place it high on the list. I'd put it above Seaworld, and It has the history behind it. The park has been around for almost 120 years. It's also clean, the staff is friendly, has amazing Kettel Corn. Plus you can high five a Hershey Bar or Reeses Peanut Buttercup, which you can't do anywhere else. Hershey also has a few resorts, a campground and busses that you can take from said resorts to the Hersheypark or Hershey's Chocolate World.
I was pleasantly surprised after my trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain. You may not get the immersion of The Wizarding World or a Fantasyland but you get a lot of high-quality - bare-boned coasters. Also there are various areas that are lightly themed. As far as ride Ops is pretty good they were getting people on and off coasters very quick ; compared to Knotts - where that task is very grueling and slow.
I truly think that the biggest draw of Disney is all the characters and Classic IPs. No matter how sophisticated the rides of the other theme parks are, they don't have any must have characters that kids and adults want to meet. Kids have to meet the princesses and Mickey mouse, not Dolly Parton or minions or loony tunes.
Exactly Disney and universal are the outliers and why the industry will never move that direction is because they tried when Disneyland was created like magic mountain before it was a six flags. Was a theme park to try to get interest in moving to the area as well as six flags over Texas it was created after seeing the founder went to Disneyland, so mostly all these amusement parks started as theme parks with characters shows and sky buckets monorail (ex magic mountain) but like you guys know it’s so much to keep up with Disneyland even back then so they gave up on trying to compete with Disney parks so they turned to basically an all year round fairgrounds type of park with more thrills events like concerts and try to go for an audience that would think Disney parks are to childlike or not cool and since then I think around the 90 if I’m not mistaken they’ve been pushing more for whatever Disney can’t give them we can but then universal came in and kinda put a wrench in them having sole ownership of that audience with IOA today these parks you see them going towards more family and seasonal events I think they are going to move towards a Dollywood approach I know slimer said it’s on par but I still think Dollywood isnt that close but it’s way better than the regular amusement park hell I think it’s better than UHS so I might be tripping slimer probably right 🤣🤣nonetheless it’s a more achievable and sustainable route for these local/ regional parks think now that six flags can work out plan long term as one big company think they have to pick a couple parks and make them go the Dollywood route and purge the rest or at the very least just focus on park improvements and food with a couple big coaster every 2 years it’s either or and I hope they pick the first option they already do the second option just without food and park improvements 😭 so it’s probably gonna be that which sucks lol

Really was quite an important video this time :)
That chart on the report was the cedar fair legacy parks aka the pre merger cedar fair parks

Walt Disney World does give a discount to renew Annual Passes. I think it’s 10 percent off. That’s on all tiers.
disney and universal is like north woods inn and Pomona mining co compared to like Applebees and chilis which is Knott’s etc

think now that six flags can work out plan long term as one big company think they have to pick a couple parks and make them go the Dollywood route and purge the rest or at the very least just focus on park improvements and food with a couple big coaster every 2 years it’s either or and I hope they pick the first option they already do the second option just without food and park improvements 😭 so it’s probably gonna be that which sucks lol
