I had seen these English gooseberry bushes in my friend's huge garden. She makes a lovely English dessert called " Gooseberry fool". I had been fooled by this gooseberry as well. This bush is completely different botanical name from Indian gooseberry. Infact this belongs a to different family related to Currants (ribena juice comes from). Definitely this is not a dwarf hybrid. Indian gooseberriies are trees belong to phylanthacea family very native to Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and some South East Asian countries. A small review from Botanist. Thank you.

Hi Anitha & Anand, we grow the same gooseberries in our house in USA. You can make raita/ Thair pacchadi with it. Just take a handful and grind it with 2 tbls coconut and one green chilli. And then mix it in curd & salt.

@@AnithaAnandwater it regularly throughout this summer, Give it a handful of BFB (blood, fish and bone) fertilizer. If it is an autumn fruiting variety, it will have tiny blooms in a few weeks. Prune in winter around February. Anyway they'll grow with renewed vigour next year.
