I've had my gen 4 G17 for about 4 years and it's been a workhorse. Have about 10,000 rounds through it and haven't had any issues. I put trijicon hd night sights on it.
You're not alone there. Like I mentioned in the video some guns (particularly Glocks) feel better in someone's hands than others. A lot of folks say the G26/27 is that gun for them.
I don't like aftermarket connectors for defensive guns but..... to fix it just rub it with permanent marker then run the slide a bunch. Remove the connector and wherever it's coming off file a little off. Repeat until problem subsides.
I have just been switching it up. I'll still use the old stuff from time to time. It's my USAF buddy's band so I try to get them a little exposure. But, I did figure out how to upload the videos so that people who use internet explorer (I don't so I never really thought of it) will have more even sound instead of having it seem loud at first... That may help your ear drums as well.
Wow! This was a long time ago. I've sold off all of my compact pistols in favor of full size- 4.5" to 6.02". Full size grips. Ergonomics is the most important point to happy shooting. Not having your pinky hanging off. Having a long sight radius. Full comfortable grip. I found this video by searching for G17 Gen4. Because I just bought a G17C Gen4. I already have a G17L and G40 10mm, both with 6.02" barrels. Fun, smooth, controllable, unique, simple.
Check out the sticky BTF thread over on glocktalk. If that doesn't help just have Glock replace the gun. I had to do that with my G19 Gen4 (I talk about the process in that video).
A good bit. I love it. I'm not sure if you follow me on facebook but I've put a bunch of pics of it up and talked about it a good bit there. A review will be up one of these days.
I have a video on it as well as a few 10mm ammo tests you should check out for more detail. But, it performs best in longer barrels so I don't view it as a concealed carry round but it makes a great home defense or woods gun.
Your videos are hands down the most informative and concise of any on TH-cam. Thank you very much for the time you spend on these. I have made many purchasing decisions based on them.
Great review, I really like the attention to detail. It also looks a lot funner to shoot outside at steel targets rather than at the range. Your AK47/74 reviews are awesome
Good thing with glocks is the smaller you go the more mags will work for you,Will never own a sub compact but its awesome that you can run 33 rounders in a 26.
I was kind of set on getting a G19 but finally handling a 17(gen 3.) in person, it's not "huge" in my small-ish hands. I really like it! Although now since the G17 & M&P9 are around the same size, I'll have to try out both.
A. few nights ago a loud noise in the kitchen awakened me and my wife about 2am. It did not turn out to be anything bad but I will tell you that I was sure glad I had my glock 17 gen 4 quickly a available and ready. I have the utmost confidence that if I do my Job my glock will do its job also.
Great vid. My Gen4 17 is my second fave gun (My fave is my primary weapon/carry, a Gen4 23). I shoot a couple hundreds of rounds a week with the G4 17. Only mods from stock are a Glockmeister tungsten recoil assembly and TruGlo TFO sights. I have big mitts and use the large beavertail backstrap. Awesome handgun!
I have a Gen 3 G17... I held a G17 Gen4 today and good grief does it fit my hand better. I have Large hands, but short sausage fingers. The trigger is easily more reachable and trigger safety isn't annoying, like my Gen 3. It Feels like a totally different gun. Definitely buying one, soon.
Got this not to long ago.. And honestly never was a glock guy and still am not, but needless to say this gun is fun and I will definitely keep it around maybe even carry it for a bit
Very informative video. My wife and I just got back from FS 4 day, where we rented G17's and we liked them very much, but because we rented we were unable to break them down. Your video resolved any questions I may have had. We were thinking about getting each other G17's for Christmas. You also mentioned it was your wife's CC pistol, which was a concern for me as well. Thank you for the review.
I like my Gen4 17. However one thing i am not happy with is how glock took away some of the plastic underneath the recoil spring on the Gen4 guns. This resulted in the plastic chipping away from being very thin for mine and many others. I only had about 100 or so rounds through it when i had noticed the chipping had started. Glock assured me it wasnt an issue and will not effect performance, but to me with the gun being essentially brand new, IMO this should not be happening.
Do you polish the feed ramps on any of your defensive handguns? I have heard many people on here and forums say it helps with feeding and bullet setback since it slides easier.
Yes. Great high grip for me. I use the large beavertail. But I have very large hands (6' 2", 250#). I use my 17 to take family & friends shooting and switch backstraps as needed based on hand size and/or preference.

Thanks. Welcome to the channel!

You by far are my favorite reviewer of guns, gear, etc. Honest good reviews with no BS.
Thanks. I like Gen3s too; still adding a few to the safe every now and then...
I was debating between getting the 19 or the 17... I got both MERICA!
sanleunam Indeed
sanleunam Agreed.

I get where you're going there but if you're carrying a G19 with G17 mags then the size difference is not an issue either so might as well go G17.
Check out the sticky BTF thread over on glocktalk. If that doesn't help just have Glock replace the gun. I had to do that with my G19 Gen4 (I talk about the process in that video).
I may have. Who knows what flies out of my mouth from time to time....
Thanks. Will do.
A good bit. I love it. I'm not sure if you follow me on facebook but I've put a bunch of pics of it up and talked about it a good bit there. A review will be up one of these days.
There you go. Some folks just prefer the feel of the 19. Either one will serve you well though for sure.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Indeed. More options are always good.
If you want to have at it but it is only a surface thing. All Glocks are nitrided under the finish you see so the metal is protected either way.
Will do.
not a glock fan boy but I do enjoy the G17 Gen4, one of my favorite pistols .. and for me does carry well as conceal And yes they are accurate
indeed
yep
I have. I'm not a huge fan of it but it does help some guys out.
Sure. I have a video on "sight mount" and that's one way to do it.
I don't. I went to UNCC and lived there for years but I'm in the Fayetteville area now.
It would be on my "possibles" list. I don't know which would win if it came down to it though.........
Yes. I don't like them personally but I've never had slide bite nor to I dislike the Glock grip angle.
I was surprised the first time I heard it in the armorors class many moons ago as well...
It's full size for sure. It's not Desert Eagle or HK USP big but it's big.
lol. I think the Brady Campaign coined that term. They had a commercial called "ban assault clips." It's on you tube and its hillarious.
Review is in the works but in certain, specific, applications it's okay. Otherwise APL, TLR, or X300 are better choices.
Thank you for the new intro music, my ear drums really appreciate it.
Crimson Trace Lightguard. Review is in the works.
I like the TFOs as well; especially for the money.
I'm guessing the grip texture if anything. I don't notice any difference from the spring like some folks say.
Just picked up one of these.
Been to the range once.
Gotta say, I like everything about this pistol.
+Lul Llipop awesome

Phillip Black Thank you
Thank you. M&Ps are great too though.
Absolutely.
Is that a type-o?
I picked up a Glock 17 gen 4 USA model. I put the Larry Vickers sights on it thanks to your review...Great gun.
J Brown Awesome.
Now we're talking!
Great review, I really like the attention to detail. It also looks a lot funner to shoot outside at steel targets rather than at the range. Your AK47/74 reviews are awesome
I would like to add a 17 in my collection soon. Keep up the great work. Love the vids!
I don't really know. I'm a Glock armoror so I get my parts from them. Maybe glockmeister or lonewolf?
Thats it!! Im buying the 17, ive watched many videos on the G17 and im finally sold thanks for the vid.
So how do you like it,I recently got Glock 21 and I couldn't be happier
Great choice.
Agreed. Thank you.
It's certainly different but easy once you get the hang of it.
Good thing with glocks is the smaller you go the more mags will work for you,Will never own a sub compact but its awesome that you can run 33 rounders in a 26.

Both are great guns.
Thanks!.. ill give it a try and see what happens. Appriciate the response and all the great vids. Helping a lot with the tac med class.
That is odd. I wonder if they'd swap it out for you.

+slingshot I bet.
Anytime.
Thank you. I do too :D
I'll pretty much click on anything Glock or AK related. Love those 33 round assault clips.
My new favorite shooter!! Thanks again for the vid. Now I'm after a G26. I like the interchangeable magazines.
+scott762mm Awesome
I like the back ground you used for the field strip. Much better contrast. hi 5
Awesome as usual. Ergonomics aside the G17 has to be the best it flat out works, reliable, mods (if you want), magazines, and weight.
No argument here.
Any issues with brass to face as of late?
+TMHonfire102 no
I think Howard Leights. $18 on amazon.
+Darth Paradox glad to hear it
Mine is a USA made one with the newest RSA and ejector and it does eject weak, but it has never put it in my face yet.
What do you think about the Glock 20? Would you say 10mm is just a round to have fun with at the range or would you suggest carrying it?
Got this not to long ago.. And honestly never was a glock guy and still am not, but needless to say this gun is fun and I will definitely keep it around maybe even carry it for a bit
Gen3 recommended replacement is 3k.
Thanks.
Can't wait to see the review. Thought it would be good for a conceal carry option.
If you can there's no other way to go!

Rick Bendel You're quite welcome.
,
just walked out of my local gun shop with a gen4 g17. awesome stuff.
AK47andGlocklover Nice!
Yes.
Great reviews and information, Keep vids coming.
Thank you
Joe make sure your 33 rounder is a gen 4. The 4's mags work fine in gen 3's but not the other way around.
I love intro music. Great videos by the way.
Did alot of reviews i went with the g17g4 . ty for the review
Good stuff. I try to the get teh US made ones when I can.
I noticed in the opening shots you had the crimson trace lightguard on it. What are your thoughts on it? Thanks.
Good feeback. Thanks.
Indeed.
Yup.
can you do a video showing all of your guns at once? thanks for the great reviews!
Indeed

How were you able to resolve the brass-to-the-face issue? I'm not sure how much more of it my forehead can take.
Solid choice
Do you polish the feed ramps on any of your defensive handguns? I have heard many people on here and forums say it helps with feeding and bullet setback since it slides easier.
It's certainly near the top for me as well.
"Assault Clips" ...sounds like something David Gregory would say.
I want to SBR one too. I thought I was alone there :D
Hey do u live in the charlotte area? If so any chance you could share where you go shoot? I can't find a close outdoor range. Thanks
Very nice.
I would admit that when I switched from a gun that had a take down lever, I had a rough time getting used to taking apart a Glock
Yes. Great high grip for me. I use the large beavertail. But I have very large hands (6' 2", 250#). I use my 17 to take family & friends shooting and switch backstraps as needed based on hand size and/or preference.
Have you had any experience with the new beavertail back straps that are shipping with the gen 4's? If so, what do you think of them?
Anytime
do the new beaver tail backstraps that ship with the gun also change the grip angle?
Thank you.
Awesome videos bro. Shout out from Malaysia.
