Omg I’m so excited you are coming to TEXAS!!! I’m in San Antonio so many things to do!!! Floating the Frío or Comal River! Street Tacos, Market Square, Fireworks/Drone show at Fiesta Texas on the 4th is amazing. Tour the Hill Country. First Fridays in Boerne they have a free classic car show. Go up a lil further to Fredericksburg for wine and brewery tours. So much to do. If you need help I’m obsessed with my state and can give you an itinerary from south to north Texas.

New Mexico native here❤️💛! I was born in Roswell and lived there for 12 years - in July they have a UFO festival👽. It's fun and hella weird at times. Could be fun for yall to come back and experience it. I also lived in Lincoln County for 4 years, but I've been in Santa Fe for 14 years. Adobe style is the architecture here, and yes, we have very strong Spanish influence - complicated history there.. But. Ahhh, there is so much you missed in Northern NM that I wish I could tell yall about or even take you Northn is so mountainous and gorgeous, but thank you so much for coming to my home state and showing all the great things about it! We have a lot of problems, like any state, but the good outweighs the bad. All said, dear Jesus I'm so glad you didn't go to the War Zone/ International district 😂 it has high gang activity. ABQ has its great points, but it really does have some of the highest crime rates. Oh! But October is Balloon Fiesta - another amazing thing to see if you ever come back.
When you're in Texas, if time allows, go to Galveston Island! It's the only place I love in Texas (mom was born there) - it's so pleasant, and La Kings Candy is so nostalgic and fun. Just be warned the ocean has so much sea weed it's uncomfortable 😂

Josh isn’t the only one who’s disappointed when they come to Roswell. They hype it up so much and once you are here it’s basically nothing. And I would say in the last 10 years it’s better than it was.

      Okay.
So i went through Roswell on a long trip from AZ to IL. I needed to sleep cause i was doing a straight shot. So i decided to stop in Roswell and sleep in the car for 30m before i finish the trip. At 1am during Winter, with winds blowing at like 30mph, it felt apocalyptic. Especially it being in the middle of no where, it felt uber eerie.

Glad you enjoyed your stay! You actually missed the most beautiful side of the state. I do hope you come back! Roswell (I grew up there) and the eastern side are pretty in their own way but they don't hold a candle to the northern and western side with the mountains and Pueblos and national parks and monuments and beautiful views. You would really be in awe of the culture and beauty. It sounds like you had a crazy adventure anyway! Thank you for visiting our state!

starting out in san antonio, you should definitely go to the riverwalk. it's both an iconic and an aesthetic area lined with restaurants and bars that may be overpriced, but the vibe of the place is worth visiting whether you spend money or not. there's also a boat ride that you can pay to take you through the area; has kind of a european feel to it

Darbyshire is mentioned in Jane Austen books. So you’re going to Texas. You need to go to the Alamo. Also, San Antonio’s River Walk is amazing. The site where JFK was shot the school book depository is now a museum, and the Space Center in Houston is super cool. Those are my recommendations.

I may be biased but Fort Worth has one of the prettiest, and safest, downtowns in Texas. While you’re in the area, you might as well visit the Stockyards. Eat Mexican food at the Esperanza’s location on Main St. just a few blocks from the Stockyards. Go to Dinosaur Valley State Park just to see the dinosaur tracks. I wouldn’t recommend hiking any state parks during the summer, but the Texas Outdoor Musical at Palo Duro Canyon State Park is supposed to be an awesome experience. It’s not a must by any means, but The Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo is a bit of an experience. The Alamo is fine, but you have to visit the other missions along the Mission trail which includes Missions Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada. Texas is miserable in the summer, so you might enjoy Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels.

Dallas is a must, but if you end up in Ft. Worth, go to the Stockyards. I realize I’m a little late, but San Antonio is awesome, a lot to do and great suggestions here, but HOT! You’ve got to go to Austin and hit the music scene there. The JFK assassination museum is in Dallas and you can walk the route and see the grassy knoll. I’m in Central Arkansas, but lived in Dallas for 13 years.
If you come to Arkansas I’d suggest going to Northwest, AR or the Ozark Mountains. Stay safe, and have fun!

Go to San Marcos, Bulaverde, and Boerne. My family owns a ranch in Boerne. There’s a really cool underground cave formation in Boerne and it’s a cute town not far from San Antonio (huge city, don’t skip the Alamo). Bulaverde to float the river, San Marcos has canoeing if I’m not mistaken (it’s on my list). There’s Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Sea World out there as well (I’m just offering, I know a lot of people don’t like Sea World anymore due to Black Fish, I’m just listing it). I would bounce around the All of the Hillcountry is really pretty. Go to Corpus Christi or the Padre islands if you wanna go to the beach (just not during spring break). Oh! And Schleterbaun Waterpark (I probably butchered that spelling, but it’s between Austin and San Antonio).

I agree I hate sand . I was raised in Brownsville 30 minutes to South Padre Island but I rather stay at the resort and love watch people have fun in the beach but I can’t stand the sand lol I’ll sit there and sip my margaritas 😁I’m good
