I am EXACTLY like you with things that you keep over time and you have so much trouble giving away. I can relate so much with you on that. I haven't forced myself to make decisions on getting rid of things that I knew I wanted to hold on to. Greeting cards is one thing you mentioned that I do the same thing with. Can't throw them out..... have to keep them. I appreciate you doing this video. It's helping me make decisions now when I need to let things go.
You can cut out the pictures and store names on the bags and frame them with your favorite photos of the trip. Or make a scrapbook for that trip... Or... just use the bags to organize things in the tubs in groups.
Oh boy have I been there! I do the same thing! An idea for your bags (from a fellow bag collector) you can cut the images and put them in a journal. You can also use them as book markers with some books. Don’t feel bad about the craft supplies. We all go through stages and we outgrow crafts and ideas. It happens. When you are ready to give them away you will know. I have to do that myself and oh my lord do I have a room full! I think you have done fantastic clearing things out. Cris, if you haven't already I highly recommend scrapbooking. At the very least it helps you to be able to keep flat things like bags, receipts, etc (like from your trip to salem) without taking up a lot of room. Its also so relaxing and fun to come up with page aesthetics. What I do for cards, for example, is cut around the design and the handwritten messages and put them in there. So I still see the design and the memories come back, but it's not taking up more space than necessary.
Cris, as I am watching the decluttering video. I worked with girl scouts quite a bit. They always love donations like these for the kids to do crafts. Or even if you can go to any type of organization that's in need of things. I also like the senior citizen programs as well. But a lot of underprivileged neighborhoods in people who've been in disasters enjoy these kinds of things cuz it gets their minds off things that's going on at the moment. When I started my decluttering I closed my storage unit of 10 years and was going through things and said I haven't seen this in 10 years do I really need it so it was either trash donate. That's all I was giving myself.
Trust that you are not alone! So don’t feel embarrassed, I feel ya on the crafting supplies, figurines and the struggle of decluttering. I must admit, I am definitely a maximalist, and collector of all things🤭 definitely something I need to work on, but it’s not easy parting with certain things because I feel like what if someday I might want to get back into this hobby or craft and then before you know it I have tons and tons of supplies I literally put a few boxes of scrapbooking paper and supplies like stickers and such away in my attic just in case “ One day” 😅😅😅
Yeah, When I go to put away this years Christmas wrap I find all the great wrap from last year that I could have used. Same thing with decorations…..so this time I put all things in the right bags and boxes so I’m prepared for next year, plus saving money on buying duplicate items. (Always hate parting with those nice fancy shopping bags that someone put my gift in) 🙏🏽❤️

Loved this video! Just a tip, you could always scan the cards, notes, important files, etc and put them on a hard drive. That way in an emergency you just take that instead of a huge box. It’s also easier to organize under file categories and to look through!

I’m in the decluttering process too. I think it also helps to think if someone else could get use out of the item rather than it setting in my home unused. And some of the best advice is the money on the item is already gone so if the only reason you’re holding onto something is because it was expensive let it go. Now it’s costing the space it’s taking up in your home. I always enjoy learning more about you. You can tell you’re a genuinely good person with a good soul.
If you are able to do garage sales, I find that a great way to declutter and give the stuff we don't need a new home. Whatever is left gets donated.. love a good purge!

The motto I’ve been following for the past 10 years is “When in doubt, throw it out”. It’s amazing how much I’ve donated and otherwise disposed of in that time and it feels so good. When we moved out of our big house where the kids grew up we rented two large storage units because we thought surely the kids would want all that good furniture. Nope! 3 years later at $300 a month they wanted nothing, so I donated it all.
I can relate to your cross stitch stuff. I used to do it a lot when I had time and even spooled it like yours but I haven’t had any time to do it and I’ve still got a project in process by my couch that I haven’t touched for 8 years 😮 but I haven’t reached the point of getting rid of any of it because I know I’ll do it again, it’s the other stuff I tried that I know I won’t do again is easier to part with.
Also YES to the beaded bracelets. My daughter LOVES doing bracelets for holidays and song titles. She’d love a Cris the Girl bracelet for sure. She gets loads of compliments on her bracelets and even sells them to kids at school.

And Tampa jays stuff too. Put all the things in the totes. Then it put names on the totes so you know what belongs to each of you. It will also keep your items safe from moths and bugs, and all the things. Just a little suggestion from a OCD organizer. Lol. Love all the vids.
I’ve lived in my house for 16 years. I’m embarrassed by the amount of stuff I’ve accumulated over this time. A donation pick up was scheduled for tomorrow but we are under snow emergency so I rescheduled it for next Monday.
😮 You gave me the incentive to start a declutter project👍 you have so many cool craft things especially the ones that you hand tied and put on little cards yourself , just my opinion , I would keep it and get either a little storage cabinet or one of those carts on wheels that they use in kitchens and one day when you do have time, you won’t have to re-buy everything and it’s very organized and ready for you to craft again 🧶🧵You’re not a hoarder, just keeping stuff you love until you have time to do it again😄p.s. for those things that are truly close to your heart get a scrapbook or folder for your cards. you told so many beautiful memories and stories. When as somebody just suggested you can donate the rest to veterans homes , nursing homes, or any of those charitable donations or for shelters . Good luck, it’s not easy to do especially when you have two separate households joined from two people who care about their memories and treasures🕊️How blessed that you are both caring people 👍

I watch The Minimal Mom and she is great resource for declutterling. She does a "Time will tell bin" basically you can quaratine your MAYBE items and add a note to the item with a use by date. If you dont use it by that date, it's time to let it go.

Once upon a time I made Batman dangly earrings! I had. Tupperware container of seed beads-my 11yr old nephew thought they were so cool-could he borrow them -so that Halloween as I was transforming him into a werewolf- he knocked the container off the table! Thousands of beads everywhere! His mom (yikes!) vacuumed them up. I miss those beads!

A game changer for me was when I started throwing out birthday cards after reading and appreciating them. I’ve received the message, now can get rid of the physical. The only exception is cards from my parents, immediate family and husband. Those are kept. Now I wish I could do the same with clothes 😂 of course I would pick flat cards to be the most diligent about getting rid of, haha
I would keep everything and just get a bigger house. Use a room or two in the new house and display a lot of your things like Adam the woo has done in one of his rooms. Everything you've collected over time is special. Cherish them forever. Don't get rid of anything. ❤❤❤

Hi, Cris! If you decide you don't want arts & crafts supplies, such as the beads, you could ask your local library if they would be interested in them. The library where I work has crafting programs for adults, teens, and children, and we often have patrons donating stuff to us.
The bag with all the cards and souvenirs…I have the same bag full of cards and maps etc. family members have past away and I have all their cards for my bday/graduation/xmas so yeah can’t get rid of stuff like that ❤ most of the purging I do is clothing and my kids toys.

De-cluttering is much tougher than it seems. You're saying sayonara to things you invested time, effort and money into. Ultimately, you have to become ruthless or you wind up with a home that looks like an episode of Hoarders and that ain't good.
I would be here for your craft projects btw if you wanna do any of them on video. In light of the state of the world and everything i probably wont be buying any decor this year for any season including my beloved halloween so i probably wont be taking in much content this year involving shopping or seeing whats in stores to try to uninfluence my life into thinking i need all the things every year. I declutter a lot, i donate i sell my good condition items, i give things away and my place still is a mess with so much stuff because I buy more than I declutter. And it's making me feel kinda gross tbh lol. Specially with fire season coming up and seeing like how little idbe able to bring in the event of an evacuation... Buying more just isn't the 2025 plan. I'll be decluttwring thru out the year but not buying more. So if you want to do more stuff like that I'll be here for it! Remember fill your time with what you want to do. Maybe part of why you don't want to do TH-cam as much as it feels like a chore to you but maybe it just needs a rebrand or revisit in the stuff you do. Make it enjoyable to do for you:)
at Busch Gardens we would get coins from management for doing good deeds or whatever they thought deemed you worthy. but they were worth money in the park so I spent mine LOL, kinda wish I had 1 for funsies

Keeping cards and special notes, etc is not hoarding. Its saving memories. Maybe think about getting a nice cedar chest or something like that to keep all those special things to pull out and look at in the future. 😊 andvlook at

Wow! Good for you. Always tough to declutter and stay organized. I am just finishing up a 2 year declutter. A lot of hard choices. Biggest part was making sure as much stayed out of the landfill as possible. Finding the right homes or organizations that will find value was the hardest part. Been in my home for a long time. Biggest change was getting clear tubs and replacing the grey ones. Now I sort much easier and hard to forget what’s in those big grey tubs and put off organizing.

I moved recently and im unpacking boxes thatbnever gotbunpacked for tge last 4 years from my last move. So much stuff was mislabeled from the previous movers. It was all i. Acbasement. Now I have an office full of boxes that I need to organize. And out closet space here is limited so I have to think outside the the box to organize 😊

Get yourself a container to put all the wrapping supplies, bags, paper, bows, etc....and keep in where you can find it. Mine is under my bed.

A game changer for me was when I started throwing out birthday cards after reading and appreciating them. I’ve received the message, now can get rid of the physical. The only exception is cards from my parents, immediate family and husband. Those are kept.
Now I wish I could do the same with clothes 😂 of course I would pick flat cards to be the most diligent about getting rid of, haha

I would keep everything and just get a bigger house. Use a room or two in the new house and display a lot of your things like Adam the woo has done in one of his rooms. Everything you've collected over time is special. Cherish them forever. Don't get rid of anything. ❤❤❤

Hi, Cris! If you decide you don't want arts & crafts supplies, such as the beads, you could ask your local library if they would be interested in them. The library where I work has crafting programs for adults, teens, and children, and we often have patrons donating stuff to us.
The bag with all the cards and souvenirs…I have the same bag full of cards and maps etc. family members have past away and I have all their cards for my bday/graduation/xmas so yeah can’t get rid of stuff like that ❤ most of the purging I do is clothing and my kids toys.

I woke up and watched a decluttering video in bed and got up to clean my own home. It took all day. And now I’m watching your closet video before I go to bed. I’m glad I’m not the only one who hoards keepsakes. I’m trying to stop. For the Salem bags if you like the graphic you could always cut it out and frame it as art.

De-cluttering is much tougher than it seems. You're saying sayonara to things you invested time, effort and money into. Ultimately, you have to become ruthless or you wind up with a home that looks like an episode of Hoarders and that ain't good.
I would be here for your craft projects btw if you wanna do any of them on video. In light of the state of the world and everything i probably wont be buying any decor this year for any season including my beloved halloween so i probably wont be taking in much content this year involving shopping or seeing whats in stores to try to uninfluence my life into thinking i need all the things every year. I declutter a lot, i donate i sell my good condition items, i give things away and my place still is a mess with so much stuff because I buy more than I declutter. And it's making me feel kinda gross tbh lol. Specially with fire season coming up and seeing like how little idbe able to bring in the event of an evacuation... Buying more just isn't the 2025 plan. I'll be decluttwring thru out the year but not buying more. So if you want to do more stuff like that I'll be here for it! Remember fill your time with what you want to do. Maybe part of why you don't want to do TH-cam as much as it feels like a chore to you but maybe it just needs a rebrand or revisit in the stuff you do. Make it enjoyable to do for you:)

Wow! Good for you. Always tough to declutter and stay organized. I am just finishing up a 2 year declutter. A lot of hard choices. Biggest part was making sure as much stayed out of the landfill as possible. Finding the right homes or organizations that will find value was the hardest part. Been in my home for a long time. Biggest change was getting clear tubs and replacing the grey ones. Now I sort much easier and hard to forget what’s in those big grey tubs and put off organizing.

I moved recently and im unpacking boxes thatbnever gotbunpacked for tge last 4 years from my last move. So much stuff was mislabeled from the previous movers. It was all i. Acbasement. Now I have an office full of boxes that I need to organize. And out closet space here is limited so I have to think outside the the box to organize 😊
