I'm exactly the audience you described for the BoJ sun stick - oily skin, no makeup, and only use sticks for reapplications, and I am liking it a lot. You really hit the nail on the head there!
Sunscreen is one of those products where I do have to remind myself I only have one face! Once I found Korean and Japanese sunscreens, I want to try them all, although the Beauty of Joseon lotion (not stick) remains my fave. I'm interested in the Purito sunscreen though, so I may have to break down and get it. Have a great weekend, Alice!
Haha yep, it’s so true! I do feel like a lot of them get into similar territory, so it’s often best to see what specific characteristics set them apart and choose from there (ie less dewiness with skin1004, the setting aspect of purito, etc!) 😃
Thank you for putting these to the test! I have sensitive skin and I would have been fearful of the tingle too. I appreciate that you mention whether or not they have fragrance in them. Love the starfish in your hair!
I’m glad you understand! I admit I was nervous all day - it’s hard to not think “oh gosh is this leading to problems? Is my skin going to be in a tizzy tomorrow 😩” Lol! Thank you ☺️
Aww you’re so cute. Like really pretty cotton candy ❤. And I love the Isntree and I do want to try the Purito. BoJ original is great and Missha essence 45 is fabulous.
I get excited every time u released a sunscreen review vid. Love your review format and the grading system. Please keep doing it every half year or so, specially after sunscreen release season! :D
I have sensitive eyes and most of the sunscreens burn my eyes so I use sunstick sunscreens in my lids as a way of getting sun protection and avoidind stinging, I'm using the Abib one. As liquid sunscreen goes, I love Missha sunscreens, Eucerin and Ma:nyo. I liked the Tocobo liquid sunscreen, loved the smell. (Forgive my english for it is not my first language).
That’s excellent problem solving! I can see that working out well, given that they do have more of a stiffness in appearance and on - it probably does help prevent them from migrating into the eyes (ugh, the worst). Thank you for sharing!
I did okay over makeup with the BOJ (just for touch-ups!) but I save it for over my super dewy/moisturizing makeup looks like Jones Road. I have all of those sticks now so I can sort them by ideal base. 😂😂😂
I'm glad to hear someone with dry skin likes the purito soft touch sunscreen. It looks great but I was worried it might not be moisturizing due to people saying it has a very matte finish.
Can you please help me. I bought Numbuzin-No.5 Vitamin Concentrated Serum from Yesstyle. Recently saw a short describing a fake product along side a real product. My product is white not cream and does not have an expiration date. Is the real product white or cream? Yesstyle still haven’t replied to my enquiry!
You skin really looks perfect in the misha magic cushion. I honestly think the korea cushion is one of the BEST invention in makeup. You have total control of the amount to put on, easiest application that doesn't require extra tools (other than the cushion it comes with) and you won't get pilling over any product since there is no rubbing (just pat on the product) . Also, you just can't get better than spf 50+/PA+++ in a makeup product. The only downside is the limited shade (usually comes cool tone, and even darkest shade is still too light for most people) and finish usually glowy. I have medium-light and leaning warm, and the best one I have tried is the Clio Kill (Fixer & New foundwear). In addtion to all the advantage mentioned previously, this line offers more shades towards medium-light (darkest being Sand (shade 25)) and leans warm with satin finish and transfer proof (mask-proof).
Thanks so much for the rec! I was eyeing the Clio cushions myself, great to hear they’re a good choice! Would you happen to know if the shade numbers correspond to different undertones or just depth of shade (if you know, no worries if not). I’m struggling to get a good answer for that online 😅
Great reviews!!!! You start your reviews for sunscreens ,from the filters. Most of the reviews are for white cast or how it feels....but not the filters.
I actually really like the Beaty of Joseon stick over my makeup.. I love that it is matte and doesn't disturb my make up. I'll certainly be trying some others you mentioned here. Thanks for the great reviews!
Brilliant thank you. I've just ordered the Round Labs stick and cushion so looking forward to trying these. Def gonna try the Missha cushion you look incredible!
The top you are wearing suits you so much and the motif reminds me of Czech painter Alfons Mucha's style. Regarding the glowiness of some sunscreens - since I have oily skin, it is quite difficult to balance that glow, as it is just half a step from being able to grease a pan with my forehead and that's not the look I'm aiming for 😆lastly - Face Republic Purity Sun Essence seems to be on the less glowy side, maybe because it's more of a runny lotion/essence, and it's quite affordable!
I recently bought the Purito Daily Soft Touch Sunscreen, and my skin loves it so much!! Like you said, I it is the first chemical sunscreen I've been able to use, not only without issue, but that causes visible improvements in my skin. However, I am a bit concerned because not only does it not dry to a matte finish (which I don't mind), but it also comes off on my fingers when I touch my face (hours after I apply it). I've tried different serums under it to make sure it's not my serums, but it happens every time I use it. I was wondering if you've experienced this with it? My concern is that it's not fully drying and that may mean I'm not getting any protection from it.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it! Hmm, tbh not really, but that could be because I typically wear makeup/powder over it. That said, the sensation of wearing K-Beauty sunscreens feels much more like a moisturizer, so I do think it’s even more important to pay attention to reapplying! The nice perk being that I don’t find I need to double cleanse on the days I skip makeup ☺️
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Thank you for your response, and for responding so fast. I definitely reapply it throughout the day. Hopefully, it's that I'm just not used to K-Beauty sunscreens, and it is actually working.
I use the proper amount of Beauty of Joseon SPF Relief Sun Rice + Probiotics sunscreen and after a few minutes apply just one thin layer of Matte Sun Stick. The stick glides effortlessly on moisturized skin and provides a beautiful, silky finish. Perfect combination for me as I don't wear makeup.
I've had a really bad eye rash recently that I think pretty clearly links back to the sunscreen I was using. I'm not the most sensitive overall but I think repeated use of certain filters break me out and I was trying to us up my FSA credits and couldn't order a Korean sunscreen with those so got the Daily Dose supergoop sunscreen vitamin c sunscreen and something about it after extended use really made my eyelid skin unhappy. Not sure if it's one of the filters or the vitamin c dosage or what but it felt like it was mad at me for being good about sunscreen on my eyelids. Using it on the rest of my face with the isntree sunstick on my eyes seems to working though! Amazing how differently sunscreens affect people in terms of sensitivities! I really appreciate this deep dive since I really trust your reviews and almost always agree because of our similar dry acne prone skintypes!
Oh nooooo!! I’m glad you were able to identify the problem at least! Yeah I do feel like sun sticks are a good option for around the eyes, especially when paired with sunglasses (and thus far, haven’t beat Isntree’s!)
Glad to hear you like the Purito sunscreen because I'm waiting on mine to arrive lol. Do you feel like that one works for all skin types or is it too heavy for humid summer months? I have combo skin and i love the skin1004 hyalucica but want something lighter/matte
I would not say it’s lighter than the skin1004, although it does feel different to apply! It’s neither heavy nor light imo, but it does feel moisturizing. Hope that helps 😃
Once again we have the same thoughts on products and why we dislike them! 😅 I've not heard anyone else say a word about the BoJ sunstick pilling. But omg it was so bad! I really wanted to like it.
So. Purito’s Daily Go To sunscreen is the ONLY one that does not irritate me at all. I WANT to try their new one. I think I’m gonna get it. Oh my gosh. I won’t try a sun stick because I have rosacea and pulling and tugging will hurt. Sun stick with fragrance = face deodorant. 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I had to. I’m high. 🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful video as always! I have mature, combination to dry skin and I really like Instree sun gel but only in the summer (it's not moisturising enough for me in the colder months). It's very refreshing, even cooling (without any fragrance components)❤
Terrific analysis. Brianna bought the Isentree and BOJ non stick so I'll ask her tomorrow. Daily BOJ and missha and I have a scinic one I wear. BOJ always with makeup. I am not a stick person so those don't interest me. The purito is appealing. Thanks again and have a great weekend
@@AliceintheRabbitHole the scinic is a bit thicker than BOJ then they have one that is super duper thick like nothing is getting thru that stuff . It's in the white and orange bottle.
Its quite coincidental that you would review the isntree sunscreen at the same day Cassandra made a video about it! Its her favorite sunscreen and I really wanted your opinion on it as I always get the feeling taht we like the same products! Lets see if this’s Alice approved!
I feel so much better knowing I’m not alone in the BoJ stick not working out. I’ve got the Tocobo stick coming as an order bonus, so the search for a sunstick goes on. I’d love to see you review the new Numbuzin 1 clear sun essence and Isntree’s new trio of sunscreens! Especially the onion sunscreen !
Thank you for your honest reviews. I wish more influencers would be this honest🤍 I’m desperate to find a great sun stick that only has new generation filters. The older ones irritate my skin. I just got the new Mary&May sun stick, which has new filters only, but sadly it caused a major reaction, and my face was red and burning for 3 days 😢 don’t know what ingredient caused that but I’m sad now :(
I don’t know what it is with sun sticks using older filters!! It must be harder to formulate them with the new? It could also be a reaction to the binders in the product. I wish so much that it was easier to predict reactions 😔
I have like over 15 Asian sunscreens and honestly a lot of them are the same but that’s great because I love them 😅 the way you explain the differences is a way I could never lol
Haha yep, a lot of them use the same base formula which really does leave quite a few feeling similar. YesStyle picked out a good selection here as these are quite different base filters!
Your purito results are so interesting to me, because I thought I had the same one, but my results are noticeably different! Mine is very dewy, doesn't dry super fast, and no noticeable skin benefit in the time I've been using it. Same packaging! I haven't tried any of the others you mentioned though, so maybe I just have different expectations.
What would you pick the Canmake Mermaid Skin, BOJ Relief Sun, or the Purito Daily Soft Touch? Also what is your favourite fragrance & essential oil free stick for reapplication?
Tough call! But I haven’t been using the canmake as much lately (bc of the small size of it, I hate how quickly I pan it!), so i guess I would say the Purito 😃
I liked the BoJ sunstick for touch up (face and shoulders) at an amusement park. It helped to control my TZone shine. It will continue to be in my summer lineup, but I give the edge to Thank You Farmer and Shishedo sun sticks.
I’m curious about the Purito, how do you think it compares to Kinship Sport 60? That’s still my favorite for nourishing/hydrating sunscreen, all my other favs are mattifying.
Thank you for doing this Alice - so helpful! Have you tried the SKIN 1004 - Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum? I'd love your thoughts on that one!
I recently bought the Purito soft touch sunscreen for my mom since she’s always so bad at wearing sunscreen and she seems to actually like it! I like it a lot too but my personal favorite is the beauty of joseon relief sun, i was planning on trying the new stick one but after ur review i might skip it 😅 (also have super dry skin)
The Isntree sunscreen is my favorite facial sunscreen of all time. A lot of people talk about the wet finish of it, and I definitely get that. When I first apply it I definitely get that wet finish but it calms down to fully matte on my dry cheeks with time. It’s the only alcohol-free sunscreen I’ve tried that truly feels like nothing after dry down. I also am one of the rare people that experience skin irritation from the BoJ/Skin1004 Kolmar sunscreens, so the Isntree not being that formula makes it one of the few popular korean sunscreens I can use painlessly. Thanks for the reviews!
Thank you for sharing your experience! Yeah it really is quite different from what we typically see in K-Beauty formulas. So glad there are different options out there 😃
Never looked back to American filters since I tried the new generation ones!!! I LOVE the new HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Airyfit Sunscreen!!!! And the Skin 1004 🤍🤍🤍🤍🖤🖤🖤💚💚💚 my top 2 favorites so far I have combo oily dry skin and really like a more matte finish … I just got in my Stylevana order so I have 5 more to try Hygee Vegan Kose Suncut Beauty of Joseon Misha Soft and Skin Aqua I really need sweat proof summer sunscreens I’m working outside all the time I’m surprised that the HaruHaru has been hanging in bc it’s not rated waterproof but I’m loving it for the satiny finish the best … any other suggestions??? I would appreciate them lol Thanks!!!! Love your hair today and I just ordered the Bubble daydream so excited to try that on my sun spots 🌸🌸🌸🌺🌺🌺☀️☀️☀️🤍🖤💚🤍🖤💚🤍🖤💚
I’ve had the same observation! The old make prem wasn’t rated as water resistant, but it held up shockingly well (sadly was reformulated and seems like it lost that characteristic). I do wish more KB brands offered water resistant options: I heard about one recently and immediately added it to my cart lol. They’re so rare. That sounds like a lovely haul!
Hi Alice...I was just wondering. Wud u recommend the purito sunscreen for combo dry skin people? I have been wanting to try this but i am afraid it will not be for that type of skin type person. Anyway always love your vids❤❤❤
I would say yes, even moreso if you have any issues with sensitivity/dryness. My favorite part of it is that my skin felt less dry/looked healthier after a few days of wearing it! But if you’re looking for the most lightweight, I’d still have to go with the skin1004 as my rec. Purito’s has a bit more of a moisturizing sensation overall. Hope that helps!
I am curious about the spf sticks. I think a rename like “on-the-go” or “touch up” Sun Stick would work for communication purposes on the packaging. I see pilling product when I picture the application process. ✨Thank you for sharing the sun protection! ✨
Octinoxate, ack! For reason I just cannot handle the smell of that anymore. I can smell it even after washing it off with cleanser! Thank you for letting me know; I won't try the Pyun Kang Yul. The sensation would likely be too much for me too, even apart from the smell.
@@AliceintheRabbitHole As near as I can tell, yes it's the octinoxate-- e.g. in EltaMD UV Clear, that's the only organic chemical filter (the other filter is zinc oxide) and the smell is an absolute no-go for me. But some of my friends don't smell anything at all with that sunscreen. Maybe it's like being a supertaster? Supersmeller lol.
I THOROUGHLY believe that exists!! And moreso that my own partner is a supersmeller lol. She detects more scents in products than I do. I’d ask her for more opinions on product scents, but sometimes I end up feeling guilty, as it seems she can be utterly disgusted by some smells! 👀
The purito one is a fav of dr. sam ellis. I've seen a few derm reviews of the sun sticks (and I know a few definitely like the isntree stick) and definitely say to use as a touch-up and not your main sunscreen. Have you checked out the vt essence sunscreen powder or checked out sunscreen oils?
I am trying the new Beauty of Joseon sunscreen with ginseng and while I do like it it can burn my eyes if I put too much in the eye area. I do not like it as much as the rice one though. It takes a little longer to soak in.
Hmm well I would say the Purito if you experience any additional dryness from AC. It definitely feels more nourishing than the skin1004! That said, skin1004 feels lighter. Hopefully that helps!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole After trying both a few times, i gotta say they both aren't perfect. The purito one is just way too dewy but at least it keeps my face hydrated for the entire day. the skin1004 hylua cica is also extremely dewy but it makes my face feel dry at the end of the day. Honestly I don't know what to do. Maybe a face oil under the sunscreen? Or maybe try a matte chemical sunscreen but do a lot of skincare? I have dry skin that doesn't produce enough oils.
@@MenchieExtrakt I have this same struggle. To be totally honest, my best resolution is a bit of powder popped over the sunscreen. I know that’s not a solution for everyone, but it is to say: in full disclosure, most sunscreens are dewy. If you’re ok with a bit of alcohol in your sunscreen, I have noticed those seem to be less dewy? Albeit that might conflict with the dryness concerns. I’m so sorry that I don’t seem to have a good solution for ya 😭
I’ve been happy with the rice BoJ spf for a while now but I recently neglected to place an order early enough from Stylevana to not run out. So I decided to pick up the La Roche Posay ultralight formula spf 60 and I’m pretty impressed. Not impressed enough to start using it exclusively, when you factor in the price point. I have to remember to pay the extra money for expedited shipping next time so it doesn’t sit in a factory for a month before they ship it 😅😂
Oh noooo!! If it’s any consolation, I’m shocked by how quickly stylevana shipped my most recent order. I’m hoping this means they’re speeding things up for everyone But I feel you very much on the French sunscreen as backup. My favorite “western” (?) sunscreen is by Vichy. Yep, they have great options - but the price difference from K-Beauty IS jarring 😅🤣
What a fantastic breakdown. I am a mineral sunscreen girl. I prefer the lack of sunscreen, smell, as well as perhaps avoiding extra chemicals. I don’t necessarily think chemicals formulas are bad in fact they can be quite good- but since I found some good ones that are mineral, I just stick with us. Thank you Alice for all the work you do. I think the breakdown was fantastic. I always wanna know how sunscreen wears under make up!
There are some excellent mineral sunscreen options these days for sure! I always have those around as I’ve struggled to find a water resistant chemical sunscreen that works for my skin - Vichy came through for me there lol!
I personally think sun sticks aren't what they claim to be. From what I understand, you have to go over and over, layer after layer and you're still not going to get the spf coverage you need. I also don't think their sanitary. I just got my 1st korean sunscreen 🎉 the skin1004. I've only used it once but so far so good.
I'm exactly the audience you described for the BoJ sun stick - oily skin, no makeup, and only use sticks for reapplications, and I am liking it a lot. You really hit the nail on the head there!
Thank you for confirming! Its nice that option exists as it’s nearly impossible to find matte sunscreen options ☺️
Me too and I love it ❤
same here 😁

It’s actually super moisturizing. I don’t get a matte finish more of just a natural finish but if I use too much it looks greasy

Oh wow! Could it be the daily go-to vs daily soft touch? (The names are too similar imo lol!)
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Yes, that's correct! I didn't even know they had more than one sunscreen; my goof lol.
Oh wow, you just mentioned two I’ve been eyeing lol!
I’m curious about the Purito, how do you think it compares to Kinship Sport 60? That’s still my favorite for nourishing/hydrating sunscreen, all my other favs are mattifying.
It’s kind of similar in that it shares the moisturizing sensation Kinship’s has, and yet it feels more light on! It also applies much more quickly ☺️
@@AliceintheRabbitHole oooooooo!
Thank you for doing this Alice - so helpful! Have you tried the SKIN 1004 - Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum? I'd love your thoughts on that one!
Yup!! I’d say that is in my top 3 sunscreens. It’s similar to beauty of joseon’s, but it applies and feels even more lightweight 😍
@@AliceintheRabbitHole ohhhh yay! I recently ordered it and am super excited to try it
I recently bought the Purito soft touch sunscreen for my mom since she’s always so bad at wearing sunscreen and she seems to actually like it!
I like it a lot too but my personal favorite is the beauty of joseon relief sun, i was planning on trying the new stick one but after ur review i might skip it 😅 (also have super dry skin)
Ah that’s awesome!! Glad to hear she’s enjoying it ☺️
The Isntree sunscreen is my favorite facial sunscreen of all time.
So glad there are different options out there 😃
great video as always :)
Thank you! 🥰
Never looked back to American filters since I tried the new generation ones!!! I LOVE the new HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Airyfit Sunscreen!!!! And the Skin 1004 🤍🤍🤍🤍🖤🖤🖤💚💚💚 my top 2 favorites so far I have combo oily dry skin and really like a more matte finish … I just got in my Stylevana order so I have 5 more to try Hygee Vegan Kose Suncut Beauty of Joseon Misha Soft and Skin Aqua
I really need sweat proof summer sunscreens I’m working outside all the time I’m surprised that the HaruHaru has been hanging in bc it’s not rated waterproof but I’m loving it for the satiny finish the best … any other suggestions???
@@AliceintheRabbitHole which one ☺️😀😁
Isehan kiss me mommy has an spf 50 that's water resistant. It's not the bear one.
Great reviews as always. Have a great weekend ❌️ ⭕️
Thank you! You too! 🥰
I am curious about the spf sticks. I think a rename like “on-the-go” or “touch up” Sun Stick would work for communication purposes on the packaging. I see pilling product when I picture the application process.
✨Thank you for sharing the sun protection! ✨
YES, I love that idea! I don’t know why they don’t lean into the idea of being a touch up product; that’s something a lot of people are looking for!
Great review, I don't own any of the sunscreens you chose. Have a great weekend.
Hope you have a great weekend too! 😃
Octinoxate, ack! For reason I just cannot handle the smell of that anymore. I can smell it even after washing it off with cleanser! Thank you for letting me know; I won't try the Pyun Kang Yul. The sensation would likely be too much for me too, even apart from the smell.
AH is it the octinoxate that is responsible for the scent!? 🤯 I’ve been wondering which filter is to blame haha!
Are there facial sunscreen oils? I’ve only seen the body oils (ie Kopari’s). Thanks for mentioning the VT, that does sound intriguing!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole Supergoop, naked sundays have facial sunscreen oils. Coola has a lip spf oil.
I am trying the new Beauty of Joseon sunscreen with ginseng and while I do like it it can burn my eyes if I put too much in the eye area. I do not like it as much as the rice one though. It takes a little longer to soak in.
Thanks so much for the info! It did sound like a tall order for them to outperform their OG!
Should I get the skin1004 hylua cica, or purity soft touch, or both? I have dry skin, live in a humid climate, but stay at air conditioned places.
I’m hoping this means they’re speeding things up for everyone
But I feel you very much on the French sunscreen as backup.
Such a good first KB sunscreen choice!! I hope you love it 😁
My Son will only use a spray and he works outside. I wish he would use something more.❌️⭕️
Sprays can work pretty well, the trick is to really rub them in (and it’s generally a better idea to spray into a cupped hand) ☺️
🐰
Hi Alice ❌️ ⭕️
Pyunkang Yul is lightweight that’s why you can’t feel it much
Please...stay away from homosalate... ❤
