As always, thank you for the great video. Now I have to spend MORE money on my already awesome H8. Please keep providing us with interesting and informative content.
@@papablueshirt I suppose I'll add the added distribution box and so forth after the warranty expires. Did you consider adding an in-line fuse to the system - I don't know if it really needs it, but I was thinking....
I don't know how it would act with a fuse and it probably is not needed as only one battery is on at a time. In theory it should not hurt, but it may mess with the battery computer.
Ya know, we have been giving out subliminal messages for people to do road trips with their E bikes. But we meant taking their E bikes, not riding their E bikes on cross country trips. Lol now you’ll be able to put even more miles on. I hope this company treats you well, as you are the best ambassador they have. Thanks for the video.
@papablueshirt Thank you for insights! If convenient, please share the dimensions of the factory/aftermarket batteries. Does the aftermarket battery fit in bike frame and OEM mounting bracket?
Yes, it fits perfect on the OEM mounting bracket as they are the same bracket. So the bottom of the battery is the same size, I think it is like an inch taller, I will try to remember to measure when I ride tomorrow. Also, FYI I had to lower my bracket before I could get the OEM battery to install when my bike was new. It is real easy to do, just loosen the bolts a little and slide it down. So if it did not fit, you can lower it like I did mine and it will fit no problem. Hope that helps. I took an extra battery in my rack bag, it worked, but this is so much better, Here are a few reasons: 1. 2 batteries hooked together will go further than swapping as the bike sips juice from both which makes them run cooler so they go further. 2. Since you have to carry the battery anyway, why not just have it hooked up? 3. These big jumbo batteries are a pain to swap as they are so heavy and cumbersome. 4. Hooking up the balancer is 3 plugs, if you can plug in a toaster you can do this mod. 5. Ease of charging, I just come home from my ride and plug in both chargers and I am done. I swapped batteries on my Ecotric for almost 11k miles, I love this setup so much better. I always had to worry about my battery bouncing around in the bag, and this battery is way heavier. Either way, the extra juice is so much fun. I would skip the stock battery though, get this 24 ah that fits perfect and cost about 200 less ; ) www.amazon.com/shop/papablueshirt/list/18IHLK3PHY2I?ref_=aipsflist_aipsfpapablueshirt
You are correct, it can introduce a wobble. It did mine if I let go of the handle bars. As long as I kept at least one hand on the handle bars I was fine. Funny thing though, the wobble was corrected when I changed my tires to the thicker tires. So All is good now : )
I can find almost the exact one you bought but it's 100A instead of 120A all other specs are exactly the same hopefully that's good enough I'm going to try it
Problem i found with this setup is the controller in the pouch in the frame is for the front tire. When you connect everything together the back tire is the only tire being powere by the back battery. You have to wire the back battery to both contrllers like the OEM one is.
Mine is wired to both. They both get their power from the same place. I wired it in to the same place as the old battery was and used a battery balancer. The balancer switches from one battery to the other as they run down, however the power is going to the same place as the original battery. It has worked great. I think I have over 10k miles on this setup. I just unplugged the original battery, plugged in the balancer and sent one wire out to each of the batteries. I Actually have it set up now so I can use 3 batteries, it works great: th-cam.com/video/uxeMdT-D1jE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IZnogUhhM9xd2miW My Jumbo I can have 5 but my butt does not last that long LOL th-cam.com/video/14OlfxIdQoQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6fnzunEH2IVPoLnD
With the H8, the front tire does not spin unless you use the throttle. At least that is how mine works. It also works in cruise control mode. Did you use a balancer? If so, only one battery will be live at a time [the highest charged one]. Sounds like maybe you hooked up between the controllers somehow. Or They may have changed something on newer models. But all the bikes I add batteries to, I just unplug the old battery and put the balancer in between, then to each of the batteries. I have never had a problem like you describe so not sure what is going on.
I saw in another comment but wanted to ask to make sure. You can put the stock battery and the new battery on the rack right? I think you said to loosen the rack and lower it. I wouldn’t have the same piece of wood as you but everything else would be the same features. Thanks I’m going to buy this bike today with most upgrades in your list
Yes, the batteries are interchangeable. The part you may have to lower is the stock cradle. When I got mine, the stock battery would not fit, so I had to loosen the bolts that hold the cradle and slide it down, then tighten them up again. It may have been that my bike the cradle was just installed too high. Once I did that my stock battery fit, and then the add on battery fit as well. Mounting the rear battery, you could do by just getting a pc of wood that fit the stock rack and mount it and then mount the battery cradle to that. I would suggest that you get the Velcro straps as well for extra insurance. It gives me peace of mind while riding. I just reach back and check the strap to make sure it is tight. They have never come loose, so it works well. You will enjoy the bike, it is a beast. And with the modifications I did it has crazy range. I am getting close to my 10k goal, so the bike has been a blast. You probably already have it, but for those that read this in the future you can get the bike and all the parts listed for the dual battery conversion from my Amazon storefront at: www.amazon.com/shop/papablueshirt If you have any questions I am here and will answer the best I can, thanks for watching and enjoy your beast of a bike : )
You really need to check out the E-CELLS Super Monarch Crown or Dual Crown e-mountain bike. 2 wheel drive, 2 Samsung batteries (one slides UNDER the rear rack), dual suspension, Shimano DEORE gearing, 9 (nine!) torque sensing pedal assist levels, etc., etc. I feel it is THE best AWD e-mtb on the market at ANY price. I love mine for hunting in Nevada and trail riding/camping. BTW, 95 pounds BUT has a 400 pound max load capacity. Great for carrying boned-out big game.
Yeah, I have looked at the super monarch. It was my first choice as I liked it a lot. And I agree it is one of the best. But this bike was like a third of the price, so I grabbed it up. It seemed like a good start for us financially challenged LOL Maybe someday I will be able to afford one, but until then I am having a blast with my Philodo. : )
I can ride 75 miles on pas 5 no problem. I am sure I could do 150 or more on pas 3 but it would be torturously slow on the road. I may go up to the Katy trail sometime. Doing a trail at that speed is doable, but it would still take a long time not sure this old body could handle it LOL
@@papablueshirt I highly recommend the Katy Trail. I've ridden the trail several times and gone end to end 3 times. All on regular bikes. I'm 66 and wouldn't hesitate to do it again on my regular gravel bike today. My dad who was in his mid to late 70s at the time did the whole trail with me all 3 times, also on regular bikes. I don't think it would be an issue for you on PAS 3 if you can handle the time in the saddle that is. Pretty much flat, with only minor grades and lots of places to stop and eat or stay overnight. I'd recommend fall, or mid to late summer if you can handle the heat. Parts of the trail are frequently flooded in the spring.
Wow, thanks for the info. I was thinking of trying it in one go, but I am not sure it would make it even with the two batteries. And it may be too much for me to try. I am planning on doing the Tunnel Hill trail twice as a test. Which I think would be close to 1/2. I also have to figure out which way to go. I was thinking of driving to the furthest point and then riding back. Any ideas? I may change my mind after I doing the Tunnel Hill twice, but I can dream LOL.
I have a second question. Do you see any problem with tapping into the power supply of the TOP controller? The one in the triangular bag? There is room up there for the balancer and the wiring routing is simplified? I bought the battery and just been switching them out while I decide the cleanest install Ty in advance and love your videos.
The balancer I think would fit no problem, so that may be an option. I have not looked at the wiring on the upper to see, so I am not sure. They may have both going to a splitter or something in the lower controller box. I will try to remember to look today when I ride. You could install like I did, and just put the splitter in with the upper controller. but all the wires would have to make it up there. But if you install with the upper, then all the wires have to come out anyway, so either way there will be wires going out or in. I think I have about 6500 miles on mine, I was going to install a little box, but never got around to it LOL. It is mostly all black, so I hardly think about it anymore. : ) Thanks for the comment, I will try to remember to look today.
I checked before my ride and it looks like it may work. It would be a much nicer conversion. I have my new balancer on the way that I bought for my new Hanevear. I may have to give it a test and see if works that way. I don't see why it wouldn't. If you should get yours done before me, let me know how it goes. ; )
It would be a really good idea to do a step by step setup video. I would love to have a visual reference as I'm not as confident as you when it comes to selecting the wires that need cutting. Another project I was considering was to put a switch on the bike that switches between batteries rather than having one potentially be under powered and drawing from the parallel battery
Yeah, it was extremely hot the day I did this, so I did most on timelapse as it was just too intense. The mod is plug and play, so there is no cutting of wires. The balancer balances between the batteries so there is no problem with one be underpowered. I did the same to my Hanevear, this video is more of a step by step video. You can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/hloSGWomWSQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mGqRX74D7IZKFZvv Basically there is only 3 plugs to mess with. You find the wire that comes out of your battery. This plug goes to your controller. You unplug that plug, and plug in the balancer. Then the other two plugs go to your two batteries. The plugs only go one way, so it is very hard [if not impossible ] to mess up. : )
Love your videos PapaBlueShirt. I want to also add a second battery exactly like what you did. My only question is your combined 2 batteries to only one controller? Does the bike have 2 controllers?
The bike has 2 controllers. One is low on the frame behind the front fender in that box. The other is in the triangle bag by the battery. I hooked mine up from below. I just basically unplugged the stock battery cradle and plugged in the balancer. Then the other two wires go to each of the batteries. You may be able to use the top controller instead, but I have not tried it. They both go to the battery, so I do not see why it would not work that way, then the balancer could go in the triangle bag on top with the controller. I do have a balancer on order for my other bike. I may try to hook it up that way before I install on my other bike as I would kind of like to know if it will work that way. : ) I am glad you like the videos. I have a few more upgrades coming soon. Thanks for watching.
So Papa Blue Shirt. I’m checking out your battery list. Looks like the one from Panda is the same base as the battery on my H8. Is that right and which discharge converter do you recommend? Thanks for your reply and keep on riding!
Yes, unless they changed something the Panda Cycle 24 ah battery should fit. I put the 100 amp converter on my Philodo, and it is way more than needed. If I remember right the controllers said 20 amp plus or minus 1. So the most it should ever draw would be 42 amps. I am thinking a 40 amp controller would work and it would make it much easier [40 amp has xt60 plugs vs xt90's so no adaptors are needed] I put a 40 amp on my Hanevear, I was going to try it on my Philodo and forgot LOL If it was not buried in my Hanevear I would give it a try, but it was a tight fit and I don't want to go through that again. : ) If I was going to do it over again, I would probably go with the 40 amp as it is very doubtful that both controllers would ever be over 40 amps and then you would not have to use adapters. I had an adapter go bad on me the other day, so it would be nice not to have to mess with that. If you go over 40 amp, they all ship from China and take forever to arrive. But I have not tried the 40 amp on the Philodo, so you will have to use your own judgement there. Here is the link to my Hanevear dual battery video, you can see the one I used for that. I also compare the size difference between the two. The link for that one is in the description of that video as well as the Hanevear list on Amazon. th-cam.com/video/hloSGWomWSQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EEuC2Wj3bedAbtv4 Sorry so long of answer, but I hope it was helpful : )
@@papablueshirt Thanks for your quick response. I will probably try the 40 and let you know how it works. The time isn’t too important as not much bike riding going on here in northern Michigan
Sounds like a plan. I do appreciate you letting me know how it goes so I can let others know when they ask : ) I thought it was cold here, I am sure yours is at a whole new level. Keep an eye on the channel, I have a review coming up about heated handlebar mitts. I tried them out the other day and they are sweet : ) They plug into the usb port and kept my hands like toast.
It depends what you are looking for. I want as much power is available, so I went with the bigger battery. It has worked flawlessly. It is only a little bigger, but that might be the difference in getting home or walking a mile or two ; )
howdy, thx for the videos. ?4u I see you are connecting to the lower controller....... Does that end up going to both wheels? There seems to be another controller higher up on the bike. I guessed one for each wheel??? How does the power go to both wheels when connecting to just one controller? Or, am I way off the mark? TIA
Yes, it goes to both wheels. What I did is I disconnected the stock battery from where it was plugged in. Then I plugged in the splitter [single wire] where the battery was plugged into. Then the two wires went one to each battery. I believe each controller have a shared battery connection point so that is how each controller gets power. There is a controller in the triangle bag above the battery. I am not sure, but In theory you should be able to connect there since both controllers go to the battery. I have a new splitter coming for my other ebike. I may try to hook it up that way and see how it goes as that would be a much cleaner install as the splitter should fit in the bag. Hope that helps and I hope that makes sense ; )
Love your Philodo H8 videos! I have a question for you. I was looking at your dual batteries on your Amazon list. I have a question about them? Do either of your batteries you are recommending fit the original battery mount on the H8? I note that you switched positions of your batteries due to weight considerations. But did you have to switch the mounting racks for the batteries themselves? TY and keep up the good work. Will buy off your Amazon links when I have the information.
Yes, they both fit. I think the one listing has several different batteries, just be sure the one you get has the 5 pin base. The 24 ah battery I bought to put on the back, but was pleasantly surprised that it fit in the front. It has worked flawlessly for me. I just come home from my ride, and plug in both batteries. I set my WIFI outlets to come on in 2 hrs so the batteries have time to cool. Then they are both charged for the next day. I have crazy range now. I can ride for 75-80 miles on PAS 5 before it starts to fade a little. I am sure I could ride 150-175 miles on PAS 3. It has been great. Please note: When I first bought my bike, I had to loosen the cradle bolts that held my battery as I could not get the stock battery to fit as it was mounted too high. So if you find that the big battery is too tight to fit, you may have to do that. It is really simple. Just loosen the bolts that hold the cradle and push it down a little and retighten the bolts. I hope that helps, thank you so much for watching.
It stays in the top speed range longer, I don't think there is any change in the top speed as the controller cuts it off at the same time as usual. But as you probably know as the battery wears down, it will start cutting back on the power available. Doing this will keep you in the top range longer. Be sure to watch my latest video on installing a 3rd battery on the H8 th-cam.com/video/uxeMdT-D1jE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bYosMNXhfZ1S7pMX I think putting the battery on the bar is better than on the back like I did in this video.
Hey I have a question for you. We have chatted before and I have the Philodo AWD just like yours . When you installed an extra battery did you connect them to one controller. I was curious if those controllers were connected together so you only needed to wire to one of them , ie the larger controller on the bottom of Ebike . I'm getting ready to order an extra battery or two and I'm going to use a Polar Bear battery Combiner if your familiar with those. Anyway if you have any input let me know. Thanks Randy
Hi Randy, They are both connected together, however the connection we want is the battery. Basically all you do is follow the cable that comes out of the stock battery cradle. Unplug it. The combiner will have one that goes out to controller, and two that go to each of the batteries. You plug the out to the controller into the plug where the old cradle was plugged into and plug the old cradle into one side of the combiner that is to the battery. Your new one goes to the other side. The plugs are male and female, so they will only go one way. So basically it is plug and play. It is a real easy thing to do. You will enjoy the extra range, I hope that helps : )
@@papablueshirt yes thank you very much . The 15 to 20 miles I get now is not enough. PS I put a new set of handlebars on my Philodo BMX Style. What a difference it makes. Thank you very much
You are welcome : ) The handlebars look like a great addition. I would change mine, but after 13k miles my muscle memory is pretty much established. I would probably get myself into trouble LOL
I have went 90 miles with the dual batteries and I think had 2 bars over a half when done. You can see that here: th-cam.com/video/nT-TphiQVeY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iq_Skwm83RUjyDEm
Mine has two 21 amp controllers +or - 1. 40 amp controllers were all over the place when I ordered mine, but 50 amp would have to be ordered direct from China. I did not want to wait a month for it to arrive, so I went with one that was in stock. The later models of the H8 had bigger controllers, I am not sure what they were so you might want to check that to make sure they are not over 25. If not, a 50 amp should work fine. They also have 60 amp now, so you could size up a little to be sure. The one I put on was way oversized, but it has worked with no problems. I did put a 40 amp on my Hanevear as the controllers were less than 20 each. You can see a size comparison between the 40 and the 100, as there is quite a size difference. The 50 amp should be somewhere in-between th-cam.com/video/hloSGWomWSQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bBINT8Prm41LwuqV&t=149 Hope that helps
@@papablueshirt Thanks, I ordered a Zeegr S1 which according to the review video, it has two controllers rated at 21amps. I am already looking into the dual battery setup due to hearing reports of short battery life due to the two 1k watt motors. So I am looking to do exactly what you're doing to extend range/power. Right around the 1:15 mark, he talks about the controllers. Is there any benefits to going with a larger amp balancer? Meaning, if I upgrade both batteries down the road? Here is the bike I ordered. Here is the bike = th-cam.com/video/agTPNCuVQM4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=n6HvgJN5qGJ5eFbZ
Nice bike, looks very similar to my H8, only with rear suspension : ) There is really no reason to go bigger than the controllers are as it will never pull more than that. A couple of considerations: Putting my big battery on the back rack did introduce a slight death wobble in the front wheel. It was not bad, but I had to be careful riding no handed as I could only do that for a short time as it would wobble. Funny thing, when I put the Heb alscape tires on the bike the wobble went away. I think the extra weight of the tire spinning solved the problem. It looks like there might be room on the top tube, if so I would put it there especially if it will be a big 22 ah battery as it works better to have the weight in the middle. I put an extra battery on my Jumbo on the top tube. I know, kind of crazy to have 3 batteries, but I always want to go further. It handles great, just have to be a little careful when I stop and lean as it is a little top heavy. I may experiment with a 4th on the rack and see how it handles. I can never have enough LOL
Sorry about that, Thanks for letting me know. I replaced it with one that will work. It looks like it is identical just being sold under a different name. Hope that helps : )
I have gotten some that I thought run down faster than others, but it could be me. My original battery, in the dark I tried to put the key in the charging slot. That lit up my life LOL. Blew the fuse inside, so I may do a video on how to change the fuse in the future. I have noticed that sometimes I would buy a 48v battery and later go back to the same listing and they changed the listing to a 52v. I think the 52v will work as long as it is not charged all the way. I think sometimes people buy the 52v thinking it is 48 and have problems. That is the only issues I can think of.
No, it has worked flawlessly. I just ride, then come home and plug each battery into a charger. Then I go out the next day. So no problems. The controller said 21 amps plus or minus 1. I probably could have made it by with a smaller balancer, but I was in a hurry and wanted to have at least 60 amp balancer because of the dual motors. I could not find one that would be shipped in time, so I settled on the one I got. A smaller one may fit in the box, but it is pretty crowded in there.
A couple of reasons, but the main one was price. The original battery was 600, I got this one for much less. I also did not want to have to swap the batteries, you can go further with 2 batteries installed than you can when you swap. Plus you have to swap somewhere, If you carry the extra battery along, it is just dead weight if it is not hooked up. A bonus, is that it is a bigger battery at 24 ah, and this fits in the standard position just like the original battery. So I get the best of both worlds. A bigger battery at a price 200 dollars cheaper. If you want to check out the battery you can see it at: www.amazon.com/shop/papablueshirt Have a great week : )
It did not have a bottle cage mount on top, and it had the cables underneath the tube. So I did not know how it would mount there. I have since discovered the mounting system that would work there. I mounted one there on my Jumbo: th-cam.com/video/KYx2oBkUX9A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_MexzPCAuzUtDed5&t=20 Probably not a good video to show you, as it was the video I crashed in, but you can see the battery I mounted on my Jumbo. The Jumbo had a cage, but I also bought a mount to go on top of it. In this video I had not received it yet, but it looks the same. You are right, it would be better balanced there. I may keep the one in the rear and mount another on top of the bar, as you can never have enough LOL I did that with my Jumbo and it has worked great. I even have room for a 5th battery, Crazy I know ; )
Yes, that is where I have mine. The 24 ah battery is bigger than the original, but it fits the cradle fine. I did move my cradle down a little when I first got my bike as it was mounted too high and I could not get the original battery to fit. So I just loosened the bolts and slid it down. So if you have a problem fitting under the bar, you may have to do that. But the base is the same as the original.
I am not familiar with your bike, however the process is to get a battery balancer. The balancer will only have one battery on at a time. It will use from one battery, then switch to the other as it wears down a little, then back and forth until both batteries are depleted. So usually no changes are made to the stock controller. You just unplug your current battery and put the balancer in-between your controller, then to your two batteries. It works out great.
You can turn off either battery if the battery has an on off switch. or you can just leave one off if you like, it will work either way. The blender will keep both batteries pretty close to the same level by switching back and forth. Both batteries will never be on at the same time, it will switch from one to the other. However they will be very close to the same power wise. It will use one for a while then switch to the other and then back again. This is how you go further with two batteries blended vs stopping and switching. Both batteries will run cooler so more efficient. I have put over 20,000 miles on my bikes with the blender, it works great. You can get a one for quite a bit less than 100 dollars depending on what size you need. : ) I think I paid 60 for my last one.
Do you know what size your controllers are? The main thing you have to do is make sure the blender is bigger than the max draw on your controllers. If it is AWD, you have to add them both together. I put a 100 amp on my H8, but you may not need one that big.
Hello nice wheels mann, from Ireland, was thinking about getting an electric bike, bikes that were suggested were, keteles k800 2000w duel motor similar to yours and lankeleisi mg740 plus 2000w fuel motor, can anyone help. Thanks
If you are unable to get the Philodo in your country, the Keteles k800 is similar, so I would think it would be a sound choice. I am not familiar with the other one. I will soon pass 14k miles on my Philodo, so it has been very dependable.
The price fluctuates from day to day, you can go here to check the current pricing: www.amazon.com/shop/papablueshirt/list/18IHLK3PHY2I?ref_=aipsflist_aipsfpapablueshirt Hope that helps : )
Yes, that would be an option if I was riding twice a day like I was. But I wanted to ride 100 miles in one go, which is hard to do with one battery. So since I would need to bring the other battery along, it is better to just have it hooked up. Another reason is two batteries connected will go further than swapping them as it draws a little from each one and switches back and forth. And to be honest with you, I hated changing these monster batteries. The Ecotric batteries were small and no big deal to change, these would be a pain. Now , I just come back from a ride and plug in both batteries. I get the best of both worlds. Thanks for watching : )
I was concerned because of the dual motors there would be 42 amps plus or minus 2 going through the box, so I errored on the high side. The only drawback was I could not fit it in the controller box on the bike, but it has worked very well regardless. : )
I'm really starting to like that bike more and more. So cool that the batteries work together and plug and play so easily.
It is very hard to beat for the price. If you want to skip the upgrade, you can just jump right to the Jumbo, it already has dual batteries ; )
As always, thank you for the great video. Now I have to spend MORE money on my already awesome H8. Please keep providing us with interesting and informative content.

Glad I could help, it sure helps with range anxiety : )

My plan is just get a second philodo battery and just carry it in my backpack. When one is done, just swap.
Good job on your build.
I took an extra battery in my rack bag, it worked, but this is so much better,
Here are a few reasons:
1. 2 batteries hooked together will go further than
swapping as the bike sips juice from both which
makes them run cooler so they go further.
2. Since you have to carry the battery anyway, why not
just have it hooked up?
3. These big jumbo batteries are a pain to swap as they
are so heavy and cumbersome.
4. Hooking up the balancer is 3 plugs, if you can plug in
a toaster you can do this mod.
5. Ease of charging, I just come home from my ride and
plug in both chargers and I am done.
I swapped batteries on my Ecotric for almost 11k miles, I love this setup so much better. I always had to worry about my battery bouncing around in the bag, and this battery is way heavier.
Either way, the extra juice is so much fun. I would skip the stock battery though, get this 24 ah that fits perfect and cost about 200 less ; )

That 10lbs will get heavy on your back
Thanks for the info Papa! I'm going to dual battery one of mine. 😊
You can never have enough, ; )
😊😊😊 be careful that's a extra 10lbs back there makes the rear a little wable because of the weight .. Good job well done 👍👍👍
You are correct, it can introduce a wobble. It did mine if I let go of the handle bars. As long as I kept at least one hand on the handle bars I was fine. Funny thing though, the wobble was corrected when I changed my tires to the thicker tires. So All is good now : )
I can find almost the exact one you bought but it's 100A instead of 120A all other specs are exactly the same hopefully that's good enough I'm going to try it
Yes, 100amp is plenty. You should have no problems. You will probably need to get adapters to adapt down to xt60's.
I've got 2 batteries as well, 48v 20Ah and I got a great deal on a 48v 20 Ah for 140 miles of ridding.
Yeah, there is nothing like that extra juice. Now I give out before the bike does LOL
I Actually have it set up now so I can use 3 batteries, it works great: th-cam.com/video/uxeMdT-D1jE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IZnogUhhM9xd2miW
My Jumbo I can have 5 but my butt does not last that long LOL
th-cam.com/video/14OlfxIdQoQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6fnzunEH2IVPoLnD
@@papablueshirt I did the same thing. When my extra battery is on but not the original only the back tire spins.
Schweet! I just bought a 2nd battery LOL. Thanks for the idea!
Nice!! Dual batteries are great 👍
I saw in another comment but wanted to ask to make sure.
You probably already have it, but for those that read this in the future you can get the bike and all the parts listed for the dual battery conversion from my Amazon storefront at:
www.amazon.com/shop/papablueshirt
If you have any questions I am here and will answer the best I can, thanks for watching and enjoy your beast of a bike : )
Papa, what you have in the Philodo is pretty good, better than a speedy "Rambo Megatron". Enjoy. These E-MTBs are magic carpets IMHO. @@papablueshirt
Is that battery made specifically for the philodo dual motor bike?
No, it just happened to be the same style and base. So it fits neatly on the frame. I put the original one on the back now and it works very well. : )
@@papablueshirt you’ll get some serious range now , what’s that 47 AH lol?
Ok got it papa blue thank you
I have a second question. Do you see any problem with tapping into the power supply of the TOP controller? The one in the triangular bag?
There is room up there for the balancer and the wiring routing is simplified?
I bought the battery and just been switching them out while I decide the cleanest install
Ty in advance and love your videos.
You can check it out here: th-cam.com/video/hloSGWomWSQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mGqRX74D7IZKFZvv
Basically there is only 3 plugs to mess with.
If I was going to do it over again, I would probably go with the 40 amp as it is very doubtful that both controllers would ever be over 40 amps and then you would not have to use adapters.

@@papablueshirt Thanks for your quick response. I will probably try the 40 and let you know how it works. The time isn’t too important as not much bike riding going on here in northern Michigan

I thought it was cold here, I am sure yours is at a whole new level. Keep an eye on the channel, I have a review coming up about heated handlebar mitts. I tried them out the other day and they are sweet : ) They plug into the usb port and kept my hands like toast.
@@papablueshirt Sounds good
Do you think it would be best to find an auxillary battery that matches the stock?
And also did you notice any change in speed and torque after doing this
It stays in the top speed range longer, I don't think there is any change in the top speed as the controller cuts it off at the same time as usual. But as you probably know as the battery wears down, it will start cutting back on the power available. Doing this will keep you in the top range longer. Be sure to watch my latest video on installing a 3rd battery on the H8
th-cam.com/video/uxeMdT-D1jE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bYosMNXhfZ1S7pMX
I think putting the battery on the bar is better than on the back like I did in this video.
Hi Randy,
They are both connected together, however the connection we want is the battery.
So with extra battery how far do you get now. thanks for replying
I have went 90 miles with the dual batteries and I think had 2 bars over a half when done. You can see that here:
th-cam.com/video/nT-TphiQVeY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=iq_Skwm83RUjyDEm
90 miles that pretty good. So 45 miles per battery is that sound right
Is there any reason you didn't go with a 50a balancer?
The 50 amp should be somewhere in-between th-cam.com/video/hloSGWomWSQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=bBINT8Prm41LwuqV&t=149
Hope that helps
Nice bike, looks very similar to my H8, only with rear suspension
: ) There is really no reason to go bigger than the controllers are as it will never pull more than that.
I can never have enough LOL
hey the battery converter that you have on your amazon page isnt being sold anymore, is there another converter out there that would work?
Sorry about that, Thanks for letting me know.
I replaced it with one that will work. It looks like it is identical just being sold under a different name. Hope that helps : )
I just noticed there is currently a 10.00 coupon on it, so don't miss that ; )
thanks@@papablueshirt
You bet, Enjoy the extra juice. : )
also do you know which motor the extra juice is being fed to?@@papablueshirt
Did you ever get an h8 battery that had issues?
I have gotten some that I thought run down faster than others, but it could be me. My original battery, in the dark I tried to put the key in the charging slot. That lit up my life LOL. Blew the fuse inside, so I may do a video on how to change the fuse in the future. I have noticed that sometimes I would buy a 48v battery and later go back to the same listing and they changed the listing to a 52v. I think the 52v will work as long as it is not charged all the way. I think sometimes people buy the 52v thinking it is 48 and have problems. That is the only issues I can think of.
Is there a quick/fast charger with at least 8A for this bike?
Philodo does not offer one that I am aware of, but the plug in is a standard plug so should be pretty easy to find one. : )
Any problems using that 120 amp balancer and did you notice the amps of those controllers in your bike?
No, it has worked flawlessly. I just ride, then come home and plug each battery into a charger. Then I go out the next day. So no problems.
The controller said 21 amps plus or minus 1. I probably could have made it by with a smaller balancer, but I was in a hurry and wanted to have at least 60 amp balancer because of the dual motors. I could not find one that would be shipped in time, so I settled on the one I got. A smaller one may fit in the box, but it is pretty crowded in there.
Pappa Blue Shirt why did you not buy the exact same battery from Philodo? I have the same second battery and if one is almost empty I exchange them.
If you want to check out the battery you can see it at: www.amazon.com/shop/papablueshirt
Have a great week : )
Which controller controls which motor?
Good question, I am not sure. I will have to see if I can figure that out. Sorry, I could not answer for you.
why not add that pack ontop the frame?
It did not have a bottle cage mount on top, and it had the cables underneath the tube. So I did not know how it would mount there. I have since discovered the mounting system that would work there. I mounted one there on my Jumbo: th-cam.com/video/KYx2oBkUX9A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_MexzPCAuzUtDed5&t=20
Probably not a good video to show you, as it was the video I crashed in, but you can see the battery I mounted on my Jumbo.
I even have room for a 5th battery, Crazy I know ; )
Papa blue do you know if your second battery will fit in the battery holder? Basically swapping out with the original
@@papablueshirt ok thank you
So I had an amyet s8 with one 25ah 48v battery I want to add an another 25ah battery. Do I need to upgrade the stock controller? I am confused
@@papablueshirt battery blender will use both batteries at the same time or you can turn off one battery if you want. Costs $150
@@papablueshirt what’s the link for the blender

Why not just change out the battery when the other one dies being it takes the same cradle a lot less work .
A smaller 30 Amp battery blender would have worked fine.
I was concerned because of the dual motors there would be 42 amps plus or minus 2 going through the box, so I errored on the high side. The only drawback was I could not fit it in the controller box on the bike, but it has worked very well regardless. : )
