A Beginner's Guide to Gas Station Whack-a-Mole... (S3:E62)

- Departing Bolivia's constitutional capital of Sucre, Chad and Rose set out on a journey to the country's largest city - Santa Cruz de la Sierra...
But in order to get there, they must first navigate the crowded street markets of Oruro, and one of Bolivia's most dangerous highways en route to Cochabamba.
And that's just the beginning... Before they can go anywhere, they'll need gas.
Repeat after us: "sin factura"...

I have said it before, but your content and sense of adventure blow me away with each video. The narration by Rose and Chad's sarcastic humor were particularly spot on in this one. I love it.
Thanks for the kind words! We appreciate you supporting the channel... 🍻
3:47 Classic Chad and Rose
Oh look!
A dirt road!
To hell with the perfectly good highway!
Thats what makes these great
Thanks
Well, we've got to find out where it goes!!
Weird...
I stayed at that same hotel in Oruro
That perimeter area of Oruro was never finished...or was used for A10 strafing practice
Thanks for the vid!
It's probably something we found on iOverlander... who knows. Small world, nonetheless! 😁
Trash fire. "Spicy, I like it!" Best line ever.
Brilliant.
Hard to believe that more people don't head there.
I am glad they didn't kill you on the highway!
Stay safe.
Ha ha... Rose likes it a little trashy. Which certainly explains her choice in spouses... 😁
Unfortunately, we didn't catch the moment we got run into a ditch, but at the moment, I was more concerned about not dying than turning the GoPro on... 😵💫
As always..Great entertainment
In years gone by you will laugh at all these problems trying to get gas/petrol and the hassle..and remember the great roads , scenery and the good folk
Stay safe..
It's all part of the fun! And yes, it those moments we definitely cherish the most! ☺️
¡Salud!
I always look forward to your videos. Safe travels!
Thank you, we appreciate your support! 🍻
Hi, I came across your channel just now. Nice video with a few near-collision situations... The car crosing the road just in front of you, 😮wow.
And: I've been through the video and the comments, maybe I missed it but couldn't find an explanation as to why no fuel is sold to foreign-plated vehicles... Would like to know.
Hi there! Welcome to the channel, and thank you for the kind words.
We had discussed the fuel situation in an earlier episode, but the cliff notes are that the Bolivian government heavily subsidizes gasoline and diesel. For years, people from neighboring countries would come in to purchase cheap fuel and resell it in their country. As a result, Bolivia stopped selling fuel to non-residents...
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets thanks!
“Right of way be damned…..”
As my father used to say “You may be right, but you’d be dead right”
Very true words... might is right on the roads of Bolivia!

Ride safe!
Cant beat a good old fashioned trash fire hotel
I think they're underrated
Well, we are moto hobos after all, so I suppose it's fitting... 😁
Glad you explored and shared this experience,, so I don't feel like I need to go there,,lol. Cheers,ed
Ha ha! It's a public service we're happy to perform! 😁
Seems like corruption is a plenty in the fuel game. So very strange. Very funky 70’s cop movie soundtrack on the one.
Not corruption, just the government's attempt to stop foreigners from reselling the fuel they subsidize...
Geezz, the fuel thing. Moto travel is already challenging ... fuel stress is one of the worst, for me anyway. ❤
Well, we were mentally prepared for the challenge. Everyone has to deal with it when traveling through Bolivia. I suppose it's part of the charm... 🤣
👍👍👍
💪🍻
Did the English and Italian bikers have a code to get gas? And if so....did they share the code with you??
Naw... it's the same for everybody. It's all part of the game when overlanding through Bolivia. 👍
The street market tour has annoying resemblances of motorcycling through parts of India but not the Himalayas where it's at a whole other level of mad, but fun.
The Himalayas are at the top of our list for the next destination!!
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Apparently the roads have had recent major upgrades given international border disputes in the high Himalayan region, so that's good news.
Or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it... 🤔
@@TwoWheelsThreeSheets Monty python perspective "always look on the bright side of life, de de de... as a. balance of power, realpolitik thing!!
It was a real problem when I rode through in 2018.
Ever get stranded as a result?
Never stranded as I got out of the country when I experienced the problem. I had to get gas in a can then walk across the road to fill the bike, so refueling took an hour or so. I was on my way to Ushuaia Argentina at the time.
Damn... a can-full at a time?? 😂
I'm telling you, Chad. Get a horse, a donkey, an ox or even a good pair of hiking boots and yer fuel problems will be over. Granted, you may not cover as much ground but it's the only way to truly take in and experience the culture. Just sign me, "enjoying life in the slow lane."
Where will Rose sit??
You don't ride motorcycles, evidently.
The donkey, perhaps... but there's no way in hell I will ever talk Rose into hiking boots!! 🤣
On her OWN donkey!!! 😁
Different strokes... I definitely did a lot of hiking and backpacking in my youth, but I definitely prefer twisting the throttle! 😉
ROW...... RIP 😂
No such thing 'round these parts!!! 😵💫
And exactly 3 minutes later
😁
You cant beat a good hotel cat
Well you can, but thats not very nice
Bwaa!!! 🤣
God awful music kids
it's funky, man
it's funky, man
Well, we try to mix it up a bit. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it's God awful... We'll try something different next video, so be sure to tune back in! 😉
Keep mixing it up, you’ll never make everybody happy when it comes to music. I liked it, and the double entendres are always fun
