- We all know the summer transfer window wasn't a happy one, however media outlets, and one in particular in Craig Hope of the Daily Mail are pushing the idea that Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell have 'tension' - Newcastle United fans are now biting back at the journalist on social media because of the constant negativity towards the club in recent weeks.

I personally like Craig and enjoy his videos. But I know exactly what you are saying, he will not let this go and it's time to move on.
This is fantastic journalism. Provides the audio for who said what and when - makes it absolutely 100% clear that some journalists are happy to damage our club. Hope these journalists listen to this post and then have the balls to justify and explain what they are doing

You guys need to grow up. He's doing the job of a reporter, very well. Newcastle fans would be worse off without him. Clear there is tension behind the scenes and it's his job to point it out.

I don't have strong feelings on this either way. But as a journalist, it's Craig Hope's job to ask questions. It's not his job to please Newcastle fans. He asked difficult questions of Steve Bruce and I don't recall anyone being unhappy with that. The narrative around Howe vs Mitchell could be changed tomorrow: they could do a joint press conference and squash the story flat. I wish they would. I'm more interested in what happens on the pitch.
Hope is drumming up non-stories and destabilising our club. He can shove his so-called difficult questions where the sun does not shine.
He seems like a nice guy but being ambitious when you’re a journalist leads to some unsavoury stuff

Journalist: Have you spoken to Mitchell?
Eddie: I won’t be speaking about that every week.
Craig Hope: Have you spoken to Mitchell?
Eddie: ……. I just answered that question..
Of course “it’s his job to ask questions” but I get the feeling he had his article written before the press conference and was pissed off that Eddie didn’t say anything that fit it.

Main point was as you say Fit for purpose not being able to move players for the team to trade like Chelsea . I like Eddie for not wanting to disrupt the locker room with too many changes and sell Gordon Isak or Bruno. The problem is loosing on a Free players not being able to sell then injured. .forced Anderson and Minty to go..both would have had less play with no Euros and just Cup.
Absolutely agree. Shocked that Simon Jordan is talking sense for a change. You just need to look at the sh!trag that hope works for to understand his agenda.

I really don't give a toss about the media stirring stories about a division between Eddie and Paul. What I do care about is that we have the same first team as last season (absent Elliot Anderson) and we are playing like a completely different team. So, something has changed for the worse. We need to fix whatever that is. There can't be a single person here happy with any of the performances so far this season. We should be focusing on why this team isn't playing the same way that it was at the end of last season. We'll soon not have a problem with PSR when the likes of Isak and Bruno start leaving.

@@Cumbriamag Craig Hope has done nothing this season but stir the pot, even the interview with Mitchell he took things out of context. Compare his report to that of Martin Hardy, Hardy reported the statements by Mitchell word for word, Hope reported sections of them in a way that made it look like him and Eddie were at war.
Craig Hope is normally a reliable journo for us, but this season he seems to be trying to cause trouble for the club or the fans. In past years I had grown to respect Hope and trust his reports, but this season he is the one pushing the Eddie for England and Eddie / Mitchell in fighting "stories" even when the club are outright denying it is happening.

Craig Hope is becoming a serious problem. He clearly has an agenda to push negative comments about the club and the team. He has been doing it for the past few years. His boss, Oliver Holt hates us and has taken considerable flak from fans for his anti-NUFC stance. Seems like he has passed the baton on to Craig Hope. Time to start criticising Hope's ever increasing nonsense at every opportunity.

I think he has got a good intention. Mitchell and Eale are controlling everything. They has attempted to kick Howe out because he is a part of Amanda decision. Howe could not make decision comfortably. So we see Performace director prevents howe to comfortably pick player of his tactic. Performance was too concern about player injuring like las season.
I agree media trying blow this up. Also look at news are best players linked to move to Liverpool . Psg. Arsenal the window shut but trying undermine club.

Totally agree with this and thank you for pointing me towards the Talk Sport piece on it. One thing re Guehi though is where was Steve Nicksons other options? We walked away weeks before the window closed so why not try elsewhere considering Botman and Lascelles injuries?

Two things, it can't be lost on people that under Ashley those comments are applicable, thing is it's been a couple of years. Howe snd Nickson done very well with 1st team. Mitchell has come in to emplace a network to bring in Academy players and obscure gems from 3rd and 4th tier leagues to either develop for Hiwes first team or sell to 2nd or 1st tier leagues for profit and this "not fit for purpose" arguably is aimed at Ameobi with Kuols failed loan deals as much as Eddie
Secondly there's no commercial network, Stavely had to get hands on fine but Eales has to fleah out a sophisticated global commercial operation and be able to delve into that snd be seen to be "the" boss. If he's not seen as that then people undercut him. Have to drop this "snake" thing as Stavely has left earlier than planned because of the shipping magnate court issues as much as Newcastle politics with £60m black holes

Thanks for this video. Precisely what's been on my mind today after watching the press conference. The first words out of Craig Hope's mouth, very bluntly - "Have you spoken to Paul this week". Give it a fckin rest man, we're playing Fulham tomorrow whereby a win would send us top of the league with more huge games coming up which I'm absolutely sure Eddie just wants to focus on yet Craig Hope is obsessed about if theres problems between Eddie & Paul Mitchell! Its old news, its boring, and because Craig Hope keeps bringing it up its actually becoming irritating...furthermore its doing nothing but spreading negativity which is the last thing we need seeing as we're in a really good place. He needs to stop focusing on negative bullshit from the past thats potentially not even true and instead focus on the fact that for all his doom-mongering we could be top of the league Sat eve

I am sick of Craig Hope! I won't forget when we were about to play the Cup final and him coming out with the story of Fraser being banished and acting as if he is the custodian of truth - all he is, is nothing but a cheap provocateur. Jordan, as much as it makes me sick to say it, is absolutely right. We are in no position to sell players thanks to Cashley who flogged the first sellable player as soon as his fat hands can shake on a deal. We are also traumatised by losing our best players every transfer window. Which toon fan would not be horrified if we lose Gordon, Isak, or Bruno like we were very close to this summer?
There is United in the name of the club, but journalists like Hope and Taylor act like a bunch of Londoners. Taylor writing how the North East is suffering from under investment and how it is holding back its sportsmen/women and at the same time she is denigrating our club and manager with condescending questions week in week out. Can't believe these lot are from the local area.

You may not like it, but he has a job to do. If he doesn't do it, then his boss finds someone else who will. And if the club wants it to stop, then there's a simple solution, resolve whatever issue is there and get them to move on.
I don’t really understand the point you’re making in this video - boring, negativity etc aren’t really a reason for a journalist not to try to unearth the story. There is clearly tension between Howe and Mitchell, and it’s likely to negatively impact on the club in the medium to long term. I’m not sure citing a TalkSport ramble where it’s clear the presenters aren’t across the facts and talking at cross purposes is ‘spot on’ analysis. “Media stirring it” appears to be the conclusion, but the actual evidence points towards an internal rift. I’d be interested in hearing your own or Sam Mulliner’s analysis. On the balance of probabilities I can’t see how you could reach a conclusion that there is no rift between Howe and Mitchell.
Just the last window that did not bring the Same results as the Tino Bruno Hall starters in. A Higher level Keeper as a back up was hard. The quality to step in for Pope want to start. Strikers of a level for top 6 want to start now so you need the Euro play to get games. The push for Crystal Palace defender comitted too much budget when the other players would not go and bring money in.
It needed 2 transfer windows to finally buy Botman. If we buy Guehi in January for less money it will be good business by our club. My criticism will start if we don't buy any players in January - because that will mean our club has messed up the rolling 3 year PSR rules.

Obviously we know it wasnt a great window but Hope has no inside info compared to Caulkin, Waugh etc and he comes out with conflict etc.

Honestly i am sick of Craig hope!! Eddie obviously just wants to talk about football and the players, hence why it's a press conference for the upcoming match. Good job Eddie is tough and doesn't act like a dick like most managers.
Aren’t you doing the same though. Channels like this are making just as big obsession as well…if you feel that strongly, why have you brought it up again. You can’t just blame the media, it’s the fans as well. Have you seen the comments across social media calling Mitchell all sorts of names. The guy is trying to do a job under difficult circumstances. Fans are the majority of the problem because that’s what feeds the press when they read posts and comments.

Craig is a journalist, and it is his job to ask questions. We live in a society in which the press in general don't investigate properly, dont ask the right questions, and instead they too often support the official narrative, in whatever context. Given Mitchell's inflammatory and inappropriate comments, it is correct that the Club, and individuals within the Club, should be held to account. If this situation leads to Eddie walking out, or being forced out, we'll all regret ignoring it. Ignoring an issue will not make the issue go away...rather it's a sign of a meek, ignorant, sheep-like mentality. So, keep up the good work, Craig Hope.

Craig Hope is a Newcastle fan. Remember that folks. Every fan has an opinion - correct? He is a journalist who needs to ask questions. Believe it or not, some fans have the same questions (and after a totally shite summer transfer window) he should ask those questions.
Yes , Craig is a fan - but an ambitious (measured by clocks) journalist first. PSR forces clubs to operate in annual cycles - so fans/journalists have to combine Summer and January transfer windows together before deciding if it was a disaster.
So what harm is he doing asking questions ? At some point it gets irrelevant. The idea fans cant ask questions about anything to do with the club is nonsense.

Paul Mitchell HAD to come out and say something, either him or Eales, because the fans needed to hear something about why the window was poor. Of course, our transfer policy wasn't fit for purpose. Our previous windows were Mike Ashley windows! Our youth academy was non-existent, so we couldn't trade youth prospects for this PSR crap. We had to buy players for the here and now to keep us in the league. Going forward, obviously, we'll have to buy to improve our 1st 11, but we'll have to buy low and sell high and bring in those commercial deals to get us where we want to be. Not often, I'll agree with Simon Jordan, but these media muppets just keep stirring the 💩. We'll do our talking on the pitch! HWTL 🖤🤍
