Ford got cheap with the later ones. Did away with the reinforcement plate under 3rd gear accumulator. Those ones sometimes ended up with cracks in the separator plate. mine would shift flawlessly 1-4, but try to pass someone and it would neutral out then slam 3rd or second. Never tore it down, but suspect either a cracked separator plate, or 3rd accumulator piston leaking.
Do you ever do any 10L90E work. I bought one with an lt4 from a zl1 to put in my 70 c10. If I ever have any problems I know who I want to work on it, but never seen one of the Chanel.

Transtar sells more than just rebuild kits, they have a bunch of other components such as hard parts, bearings, bushings, individual seals, and valve body parts.

Happy Anniversary. Just did a Sonax valve body on my 4r70w. Sooo much better. Great tear down and appreciate the details while doing so.
This looks almost identical to my 4R75W. The pump and intermediate piston are a bit different but everything else looks identical.
It would be kinda cool if you could put the trans together outside of the case just so we could see it and how it works

How does this transmission compare to a 4L60 as far as reliability and durability? It looks more complicated to me.
It seems there is 20 to 1 on the rebuild videos, not sure if that's a good indicator or not, I'm curious too
