Great video: I like watching others working ;-) No, seriously I have the pry bars and the are great most of the time. But sometimes they come out to much (like you said in the first video) and sometimes it's a weird angle to hold. Then I normally us a tension wrench that was designed for BOK. That's not optimal. Now having seen your video I got a kick to make myself an appropriate tool. Thanks for showing.
+Potti314, Thanks! i was very lucky to have found such a thick windshield wiper blade insert. It is very thick and strong, with almost zero flex. It is perfect for a TOK tension wrench. Unfortunately, i have ran out of the 2 pieces that i had, and i've been unable to find more of this thickness for over 2 months. Hopefully i can find some more of the same type. Let me know how your endeavors in making one turn out!
Great video. I like the hammering technique better than the bending with 2 pliers technique.Your notch will be more precise if you use a cutting wheel instead of a stone.
Go to a auto parts store on a rainy day and the garbage cans out front will be full of a variety of blades. You'll walk away with a good collection of differing inserts.
TOK tension wrenches are mostly 40 and 50 thousandths. windshield wiper metal is 27 thousandths (what I have is) I need something thicker. Great video. Thanks.
jack002tuber Try using music wire, or piano wire it comes in different thickness and bend with a lot of effort. then file the head to the desired thickness. Oh also craft rods work very good too.
Steel Pinnings I was thinking about using music wire but I have never actually held a piece in my hand so thank you for "will bend with a lot of effort "comment. I was worried about it being a little to flimsy
Try getting wiper blades off of older heavy equipment like excavators loaders etc. IF YOU CANT FIND ANY YOU CAN GET A DIPSTICK FROM A TRACTOR, SEMI, OR HEAVY EQUIPMENT.. You can also get the dipstick material from any place that supply parts for semis or heavy equipment.
I imagine that you could convert a regular tension wrench that's how I landed here trying to determine if this is possible and it looks like it is. I have 2 of the same kind and was thinking of turning one of them into a top of the keyway wrench but why the twist?
As for the twist, most people feel that when using a tension wrench, applying the least amount of pressure required is desirable. The bend makes the wrench more springy where you apply the force and makes it easier to maintain that light pressure. The downside is that the bend also makes it so anything you pick up (bad pun intended) about the internals of the lock are also muted. Of course, I can't be sure the intentions of this person, but that is my best guess.
hi - I'm sure you can find a wiper or a piece of scrap metal that would work for you in the Philippines :D get creative, see what you can make. good luck!
Thanks man. I just bought a kit but no top tension wrenches but now I'm gonna make my own. Great job
"Hammer the shit out of this" lol! Love it!! Awesome video.

Fantastic man yoiu just saved me 30 Peterson dollars
Should heat it up before the bends and twists to make sure to keep metal strength
This is a good video.
ever try grinding a smaller notch on both sides for better stability?
This guy should start selling his tensioners!
great vid, gonna try some of this stuff, no dremel but i'll figure something out awesome vid
Metal files work great
Where did you get the blank you used for the TOK wrench you make in this video. It is much thicker than a wiper blade insert.
Try the thicker wiper blades. They are often on Lexus/BMW s.

It's a little more expensive but you can buy feeler gauge stock.
Are there different qualities of wiper blade steel? Mine keep breaking at the 90 and the twist.
Give yourself more space above the vice. I had the same problem. I went a 1/4 inch up and had a perfect half turn
@@MrBlack751 thanks, I've since learned this!
Good demo. Thanks
Me with only a pair of pliers watching
Thumb up from me Nice work man
thx man!

1:12 Oops ... when I do this, I heat the piece with a flambé lighter until it glows red.
Im ur new subscribers..can u send me 1 of that tensioners here in Philippines?i will surely appreciate

Sucks!! Bosnian Bill if you want a actual professional demonstration!!!!
Really???
Looks like it worked to me.
Would love to see how many downvotes this joke got.. (The commenter)
