This story isn’t about me, it’s about my grandma. She was a CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist) for many years. She recently told me a story about when she just started working in anesthesia. She had to ride with a patient in an ambulance to another hospital. They didn’t bring her back. She was left on the street outside the hospital holding an anesthetic kit which contained drugs worth thousands of dollars. My grandpa had to come pick her up. I told her she should have sold the drugs on the street corner. That was at least 50 years ago
Aaand now I’m sad. But I love a nurse/doctor who will talk to you like an equal and explain things clearly and comfort you/not make you feel stupid for asking a question or being scared or sharing something vulnerable. This is why I love my PCP. Also I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 21 which was my first surgery. I suddenly got scared and having second thoughts as I got in the chair. The nurses and doctor were so nice about it though. They put on music I like and one nurse held my hand. They told me everything they were doing then gently teased me because I needed a lot of drugs to make me shut up. But it was a good experience and I’m forever grateful for the kindness that was shown to me.

10:06 There’s a reason why there’s signs all over the hospital & clinic that say “No ill/mistreatment of staff will be tolerated.”
