    This is AMAZING. My husband and I were just talking about how much we wish there had been a class like this when we were in school. There are SO MANY things that we didn't know when we were thrust into the "real world!" My kids need this!! I've got two seniors in high school this year! This is an awesome resource!!!

    The fact school requires us to learn things we won’t use after we leave, instead of things like this is actual madness. This is a great project, congrats!

    CONGRATS on your new program!! So proud of you!! I'm turn 30 next year (ahhh!!! 😱😱) and I could really use this course. I'm in grad school now, and while it's really interesting for my specific career goals (young adult/adult librarian), I wish school taught me more about finances, taxes, budgeting, etc. All the "real life shit" I'm not getting in school lol.

    It's so strange how things fall into place, I've been going through a rough mental health patch exacerbated by *adulting in your 20s is hard* and I needed a positivity boost and saw this notification and was like EMMA... and stars align?? Anyways, this project sounds amazing and perfect, and I'm so glad you're well!!! xx

    This looks amazing, I've often said that there was a whole bunch of things that have been missed out in my education. The only thing that concerns me is that the worksheets might make it inaccessible for autistic and ADHD people. And other neurodivergent people, potentially, but I know less about other neurodivergences, so I don't want to speak out of turn.

    I think it would be better if it wasn’t so expensive. Like, I want to know all of this stuff, but I cannot afford a 127 dollar course. I don’t think a lot of students have that much money lying around to spend on a whim

  • @nichellehedemark6842
    @nichellehedemark6842 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Emma, I have a question regarding your graduate studies. I’m interested in going to graduate school to be a counselor helping people overcome anxiety and depression. What area of counseling did you go to graduate school for? I first started watching you for book tube, and now I also watch for your journey into the world of counseling. Thank you! 🙂

    • @emmmabooks
      @emmmabooks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I got my master's in clinical mental health counseling, which I really recommend for people looking into being a traditional therapist. mental health counseling has a large strength-based approach vs the medical model and multiculturalism is a major focus. i think it's a wonderful field because it is growing exponentially with a lot of job opportunities. one of the main perks is that you ONLY need your master's and can start working immediately after grad school while obtaining hours for your license. the downsides are there is no license reciprocity between states, meaning you have to get licensed in each individual state if you move, and we currently dont have "diagnostic authority" to provide legal documentation of diagnosis without a psychiatrist's primary diagnosis, but there is active legislation across the country that is making it easier to do both. also, mental health counselors cannot work in schools if that was your goal, but i believe that is also in the process of changing. i hope this was helpful and am wishing you the best of luck with your studies!

    • @coolerbean8341
      @coolerbean8341 ปีที่แล้ว

      she said in the video that the general information is applicable to anyone, but there are some topics covered that are specific to America, eg, how to access healthcare.

  • @lunaargentum1743
    @lunaargentum1743 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I thought this was a wonderful idea, finally a group of people who understands what it's like, growing up, not knowing how real life works because school didn't prepare you for it, suddenly having all these responsibilities you don't know how to handle, and not everyone has someone they can ask. Maybe you don't have any friends, or your friends are still in school, and maybe you can't ask your parents either. And that this group of people, who've been where you are, have come together to lay out the most important information you need to know, truly made me so excited for this course, that I clicked the link open before you even finished talking about it. That's when my jaw dropped upon seeing the price. I am not from America, so the whole course wouldn't apply to me, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't benefit from learning how to organize my chaotic life or learn how to save money, how to get a job, how to shop smart etc. But where I live, we don't make 20 dollars per hour, it's closer to 4 dollars per hour here, which makes this course unaffordable, even with the big discount (which btw, is only an indication about how overpriced the course is). Guess help is really only for the rich and the poor need to figure things out for themselves

    • @emmmabooks
      @emmmabooks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m really sorry to hear the course isn’t accessible for you even with the discount, I definitely understand the financial barriers to accessing resources all over the world. I personally had no input on the price of the course myself, but I do feel it’s reasonable given the work that was put into creating it.
      To add a different perspective, I spent at least 25 hours just filming the modules, which if we were considering nyc’s minimum wage of $15 per hour, that would be $450 of costs for my filming and that’s not including the cost of the countless hours of research, worksheet and PowerPoint creation, our editor, our marketing team, equiptment software and subscriptions, and so much more I couldn’t even quantify. That’s not at all to negate the very real fact that people definitely won’t be able to afford the course, but just to share that our team put immense work into creating this course for over a year and we have to balance making the course affordable to a population we know is struggling financially with the cost of production.
      If you are looking for free tools based on the topics I described, our mailing list sends out information just for being subscribed and I’m working on creating TikToks that share info directly from the course totally for free as well. I hope that these resources that we can offer will be able to help provide you with some of the info without having to purchase the course if you can’t :)
