    Thank you for the awesome vid! I'm heading to COT in about 6 weeks. I have a bit of questions as I prepare for training...it's mostly the small things we forget to think about...here goes:
    1-Is it better to go with my suitcase packed or better to go with a green service duffel bag? I'm thinking of space available in the room...I'd hate to go with a suitcase and then have to get the green duffel bag and take up space in the dorm...thoughts?
    2-For class materials (backpacks, notebooks, pens, etc.), do they want us to be standardized? I'd like to buy those ahead of time, but I won't if it's one of those things that has to be standardized across my flight.
    3-Can I take birth control pills with me? Or any other over the counters (aleve, etc.)? If so, do they get stored in my suitcase or do I need to hand them over to someone?
    4-I am reading the OTSMAN and it mentions an attache.......are we required to buy one for our laptops or are they providing one? not sure about the whole attache thing.
    5-In the video, you said you set your alarm...did you bring your own alarm clock or do the dorms have them ready for you to use?
    6-Fast and active metabolism here. How are they if we genuinely need potty breaks during activities?
    7-Lastly, post COT my in-laws want to take us on a celebratory trip as a graduation gift. Do you know when USAF allows us to begin using PTO? I feel terrible for asking....but I also get that it's a legit family graduation gift they want to give.
    Thank you SO MUCH! :)

      Hey! Wow longest comment yet! whoop whoop!
      1. either. i would say suitcase because you can fit more items. they will lock all your civilians clothes away until the last week regardless. the duffel they will make you purchase once you get there so bring that too so you dont have to repurchase.
      2. no. whatever you have is perfectly fine. i had an orange notebook lol
      3. yes! they will/can be stored in the bathroom or in your privacy drawer that has a lock.
      4. you're reading the OTSMAN?!?! good job, keep it up! bring your own laptop! all your notes will be on blackboard. they will provide one but it is not very reliable.
      5.I used my phone but i also brought one from walmart just in case they took our phones...they didnt, but we had to lock them up every day until night time.
      6. they are fine with that but there will be times when it may be best to hold it in or be mindful of upcoming activities. i.e. marching, PT, stuff like that.
      7. Yes they do. on your orders it should say how many days you get to travel to your gaining base. contact them/sponsor and let them know you will be taking leave in route and that should be fine with no issues.
      GOOD LUCK! keep me updated!!! :)

    Thanks for the vid! I'm a medstudent heading to COT in three weeks. Do you think the amount of uniforms they make you buy on their checklist is enough? I'm a little worried that I won't have time to wash PT uniforms, socks, etc and then will be stuck with out something I need or have to wear something dirty.

    • @VeronicaLuke
      @VeronicaLuke  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey good luck!!! Yes that is more than enough, you dont want too many clothes because they will be doing room inspections. lol you will get all your clothing you need there within the first two days, dont stress if you forget something. You will have time but you will be up late at night. I alternated my uniforms and washed them on days when most people didnt and that worked great!

    Thank you for this information! My husband is considering joining as a lawyer and we're just starting our research. If you have the time, I have a few questions we'd appreciate the answers to! What is the minimum length of serving after finishing COT? What kind of exercises did you do during the 1-1.5 hours you worked out in the mornings? Did you have to do the "hero run" and how great of a runner did you need to be? Were you paid for your time spent in COT? What are Sundays like? What did you do at your base during the week after COT? I'll stop there. :) Thanks in advance!!

    • @VeronicaLuke
      @VeronicaLuke  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      For me the minimum is 3 years. We do exercises they make up, running and strength exercises mainly! Yes I was paid once I was commissioned and they back paid me once I graduated COT. We didnt do a "hero run" but we did do a certain run, cant think of the name but it was a 5k. Sundays were amazing, I went to church on base and it was the only day I felt we got a break. During the week we got done with stuff between 9pm-10pm the we had homework/activities. So I slept, you dont have free time in COT. Hope I answered all your questions!

    Hi Veronica! Thank you for all the info. I’m looking into joining. I am doing research but I am still wondering about if you get tested on swimming? I know you get tested on running, push ups and crunches. I am going to start graduate school next year in business administration with a concentration in healthcare administration. So I’m looking into becoming an officer but I that was my only concern on whether or not we need to know how to swim and if we are going to get tested on that. Thanks

    Hi Veronica, I'm a 3rd year law student considering going into air force JAG. I have a few questions that I'm hoping you can help me with, if that's okay?
    1. Do you have to go to both OTS and COT or just COT?
    2. How long are you outside everyday? (I was in Troy University marching band an hour away from the base so I'm trying to imagine if it will be the same time span marching in the heat).
    3. Can you bring whatever kind of toiletries you use normally (face wash, shampoo, etc.)?
    4. What was the most stressful part about the whole COT?
    Thanks so much for all the info you've already given!!

    • @VeronicaLuke
      @VeronicaLuke  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! Thanks for your questions!
      1. Just COT
      2. About 4-5 hours some days; sometimes all day. It varies but expect to be outside when not in class
      3. YES!
      4. Most stressful part was the tests for me; written and reciting all the knowledge back to the instructors. The whole thing is like an intense game. But you'll laugh at yourself when its over!

  • @That1Grl_

    Hey Veronica! Thanks for the awesome video. It was very informative. I'm interest in joining the Air Force and I also have my Bachelors in Healthcare Administration. I want to know what did the process consist of when you applied for the MSC program? How long did it take before you knew you were chosen? Is there a board that takes place for selection?

    • @VeronicaLuke
      @VeronicaLuke  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it consisted of interviews, very long wait time and lots of forms to fill out! It took about 1 year for the full process and after I interviewed it took 3-4 months before I knew! Yes there is a very competitive selection board. I would definitely be in contact with a recruiter though!
