I like my 8r 370 wheeled tractor a lot comfort, ride, lights etc. but I have to agree with you on the command pro it does have a big learning curve and probably over done although I am getting used to it but my other operators do have trouble so I like the traditional IVT controls better. The RX models do look great and perform well but the expense😬. Thanks for the videos and happy new year
we got two 8R370s with LSW tires and two 8R340s with row crop tires, with out question the most comfortable tractors made, we absolutely love these tractors, nice review Nathan and happy new year to all
You were complaining about storage what would you rather have storage or a refrigerator to keep dr. Pepper cold and also happy new year to you and all borader view farm family and be safe out there happy anniversary too
I come from the world of manufacturing and understand equipment purchase and how the equipment purchase decisions are calculated. Watching AG, and the equipment costs and time of use is so foreign to me. The cost of AG and the time it is used which can be minimal (when looking at a time period of 12 months and think of a combine / planter / grain cart and its time of use), it seems the operational costs of all that stuff has to be big a number. How the financials of AG all comes together is something I watch and try to learn because I find it fascinating. Happy Anniversary!
Great Tractor. So now you have Phils new truck what's the next buy you are planning? Everything seems fairly up to date. I'd guess Haggie sprayer or cultivator upgrade?
I like the tractor. I don’t like the idea of tanks on the tractor simply because of weight as you said but accessibility and site. I know the wagon is a pain but in my opinion it’s a better option on your farm because you have a majority of the fields are larger acres. But nice set up.
If your truly concerned about compaction why not get the mounted tanks on the tractor fill the cart for road travel and unhook it at the field and transfer there that would eliminate have to have a chase vehicle and if needed you could carry more to the field in one trip if you really need it! Maybe do a compaction test with and without the cart I’m sure there will be a difference! Have a happy anniversary and new year thanks for all the great videos!
Happy New Year to you and your old family... If and when you buy another piece of equipment with a new or used, would you consider having tracks on that also or does it depend upon how you're going to use it?
Why doesn’t JD just make a simple adapter for the old to new style plugs ? Oh wait! That would be just way to simple now wouldn’t it. Thanks for your great videos
JD does make an adapter plug. They also sell the 3 pin round plug with wires already in it that you can cut off the old style plug and wire on the 3 pin round. I believe the 3 pin round is more common with other brands, I was told that’s the reason for the switch. I have part numbers if you want.
If you were ordering it new would you chose the command pro or the traditional command arm controls. I think would rather have the old style so everyone knows how to run it with out calling me every time they get in. Thoughts?
Hard to say. When we bought it I estimated depreciation at around $100 per hour but I can find used ones with more good than ours for sale for far more than we paid brand new. I'm sure used equipment values will crash at some point but right now we could easily get what we paid for it.
Way over powered for the planter but a pretty good match for the NH3 applicator and grain cart. The 340 probably would have worked but would be underpowered for a couple things.
No it wasn't. Only on those to rows but last year with dual tires rows 7 and 10 on the planter yielded about 60 bushels less than rows with no tire tracks. With the 8RX this year rows 7 and 10 only yielded about 10 bushels less than the other rows.
I can tell you why you cant directly go from forward to reverse with the joystick, because iam a 100% sure they did that because some people used to use that function (that you are missing) to slow the tractor down (applying the brakes) and that basicly destroyes the transmission.) so they put the neutral position in so they cant use the reveserse a brake.
Nathan, Nathan, Nathan. I don't think that it's reasonable to expect 10 years out of this tractor. They just don't build the tractors like they did in 1998. If you put 400 hours a year on it, you may find the highest value to your operation is 5 years. I'm looking at the hours more than the years. Almost every manufacturer builds a failure time frame based on time and usage into their product. Insuring their future market I suppose. Also, I expect the technology to change exponentially the next few years.
@@BorderViewFarms I sure agree with that. And I’m agreeing that we should be able to depend on equipment lasting for all the money it costs but all manufacturers build with an eye on replacing tractors at 3,000 hrs maybe 3,500 hrs, not the decades or 10,000 hours we came to expect. In effect, forcing us to replace tractors every 3-5 years. Frankly makes us look at leasing considering technology and warranty.
That cab has a lot of similarities to the new Case IH models, makes you wonder if they're made at one factory then each brand makes it their own from there?? Case IH has used that style power adapter for at least the last 12 years.
You are being to nice because it's a new tractor. The lack of storage is stupid. The cab is smaller than the 8R, and cheaper built than the 8R. It is a sea of cheap plastic. The command pro is the most counter intuitive piece of garbage Deere has ever used. I could keep going but I'll stop. The reasons I used to have for spending more on a Deere have all but been erased with the new 8R.
Well it’s not a 4020 but it’ll do. 😂😂😂
Happy Anniversary to you Nathan and your wife Mattea! Best of 2023 to you, your family, and all at Border View Farms.

Happy New Year, Nathan, to you and the crew at BVF! Very nice Tractor review. Best of luck in 2023.
Excellent job Nathan 👏 👍🏻.
Excellent review Nathan, really enjoyed….your issues with your joystick control reminded me of my Fendt…..you’ll eventually master it and like it
Happy New Year and Happy Anniversary

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY YOU TWO !!!
I think every tractor should have swiveling seats like this. Makes it so much easier on the back. OSHA points galore.
Happy new year and happy anniversary, Nathan.
Happy New Year to you and your family. God bless.....
Enjoy opening the new year with your love ones and God bless!
Great video, happy new year to you and your family, tell your dad and your uncle Phil happy new year

Beautiful machine.
Thanks for all your hard work Nathan and happy new year!
Beautiful tractor!
I believe John Deere offers a retrofit enabling you to install foot pegs on your 8335R. You might ask your dealer if you want.
Great Tractor.

Hi Nathan,
How Come you choose the rx insteed of the rt?
Kind regards Robin fram sweden
Pull your tank like normal to field unhook at field and fill your saddle tanks off of the pull tank
You can also bump the stick to the right to go to your set speed
I knew that

Happy New Year! Would you mind sharing where you purchased your new lights in your new building? Thank you and always enjoy watching.
Happy new year, What is your % of slip? Will the 18 inch tracks slip when you are using all of the 370 HP? Thank you for the review.
I never had it under a heavy draft situation, so other than the day I got stuck planting slip wasn't an issue.

Now I'd probably pick the CommandPro. In May and June old right hand reverser for sure.
try having a big guy try washing the back window with your stepping on a wire connector or falling down.. no handle no step no plat form...
what tractor does brock like better? the 8rx or 8r?
What phone mount do you use
Deere dropped the ball not allowing you to program buttons for guidance lines
Deere dropped the ball on a lot of things haha
How many $ per hour do you think that’s costing you vs a new slightly used wheel machine?

What u think bout our horsepower from our 9.0 liter power tech pss 549's diesel engines twin vgt turbo chargers
Hi Nathan!! How about the power?? Wish you bought the 410? Maybe the 340 would do??
Way over powered for the planter but a pretty good match for the NH3 applicator and grain cart. The 340 probably would have worked but would be underpowered for a couple things.
@@BorderViewFarms BUUUUUT when you go to a 24 row planter and 12 row corn head!! HAHAHAH
I don’t think truck companies are competing with each other they are competing against John Deere🤣🤣
Off topic, but if you were in a bind could the 7520 pull your grain cart?
Empty around the farmyard. Not to actually use it.
I'm assuming 50 bushel an acre was sarcasm? Because that's an ungodly amount if bpa just from tires being removed
No it wasn't. Only on those to rows but last year with dual tires rows 7 and 10 on the planter yielded about 60 bushels less than rows with no tire tracks. With the 8RX this year rows 7 and 10 only yielded about 10 bushels less than the other rows.

Need to clean the black plastic on the RX
Sounds like the same old John deere to me
Who wouldn't allow you to go down the road? Way different in Canada 🇨🇦 haha guys will fill a 1300bushel air cart and giver haha
I'm allowed to, it's really hard on the tracks to road them with excess weight.
@@BorderViewFarms seems kinda silly to make a tracked unit that can't handle the weight.
I still love that tractor. Nothing runs like a Deere. If it ain't green... It ain't mean!!!

I'm not saying we won't buy another tractor for 10 years but I am saying the 8335R will likley leave before the 8RX

You don’t need that much stuff. iPad.
It’s differently a good looking tractor
