    18 Black US Army Soldiers were awarded The Medal of Honor.
    William Harvey Carney
    54th Massachusetts Colored Infantry Regiment Battle of Fort Wagner 07/1863 awarded in 1900. 1st Black man whose combat action to be awarded The Medal of Honor.
    Bruce Anderson 142d New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment Second battle for Fort Fisher in 1865 awarded in 1914.
